I have an FTP server on my phone that auto-starts with Tasker to perform unattended backups. Recently it stopped working. As I debugged the issue I found errors in the log of "unable to connect to wlan0". The Wi-Fi connection was fine, so I was puzzled. I finally re-created the SFTP server profile and discovered that wlan0 doesn't exist. The Wi-Fi connection is now wlan1. That fixed the problem, but I'm curious why wlan0 would suddenly change to wlan1? No OS updates or new apps have been recently installed.

Device: Lenovo A806 with Android 4.4.2 Problem: Cannot log in to google account while on data (**works on wifi**) Description: Cannot open google play (connection failed, retry) or add a new google account to the android settings (signing in, may take minutes). Also cannot eg log in to PokemonGO with google account while on data, but can log in with non-google account. The game keeps playing if later I go off-wifi. Wifi is required only for sign in. If I disconnect and allow some time to pass then cannot log in again on data. Tried: 1. Date and time settings are automatic and I verified that the difference to atomic clock is under 1s. 2. Different SIM in different country has the same problem (network operator-independent) 3. Cannot add new google account (account independent, not related to 2-step verification or wrong password etc) 4. Hosts file contains only 127.0.0.1 localhost. 5. Uninstalling/Reinstalling, clearing cache, clearing data, forcing to stop the app and restarting does not seem to help because more than one app have the same problem. 6. Captured the HTTP/S traffic using Drony but didn't manage to understand which is the call to the google account, and see its status. I know the question may seem a duplicate, but I haven't found any solved question about having this problem ONLY on data (wifi works so that rules out many solutions)

I can just access Google and YouTube via a Wi-Fi hotspot created by my Windows 7 laptop. What’s wrong?
I have followed every step of [this instruction][1], but my Android phone can only access Google and YouTube – and no other websites. What is wrong? It may be due to a DNS-server problem, but I cannot figure out how to fix this. When connecting to the hotspot, I cannot change any DNS-settings. [1]:...

There are a lot of threads about Android 11 and WPA Enterprise, but none of it seems to have a solution for my specific problem. I'm using a UniFi WLAN infrastructure with a connected FreeRADIUS. Since I updated my phone to Android 11, I can't connect to the network. I read that the issue comes from the disabled "don't validate" option for WiFi in Android. But even if I import the right certificate (I tried to import the CA and the FreeRADIUS server certificate on my phone), I can't connect to the WiFi. I'm prompted to enter a domain on WiFi setup, but I don't really know what to enter there. I tried to enter the CN of my certificate/CA there, but this won't work either. Here's what my radius is telling me: Tue Aug 31 14:15:09 2021 : ERROR: (165589) eap_ttls: ERROR: TLS Alert read:fatal:unknown CA Tue Aug 31 14:15:09 2021 : Auth: (165589) Login incorrect (eap_ttls: TLS Alert read:fatal:unknown CA): [anonymous@local.domain/] (from client UAPs port 0 cli MAC Does anybody know how to debug or solve that issue?

On my LG G3 running Android 5.0 I have a problem that I started to notice while playing Clash Royale (a real time multiplayer game). My actions would sometimes have a delay of up to 2 seconds. Other players wouldn't have that problem. So I started investigating. Here are the facts: - I'm always on my home Wi-Fi. - When I ping my router from my G3 I can see a spike in the latency exactly every 20 seconds. - It is not location dependent, reception is good. - Other devices don't experience this using the same Wi-Fi. Hence I think this must really have to do with my G3. It is not rooted and I haven't been playing with any internal settings. Displaying the CPU usage from the developer settings doesn't show anything suspicious during the spikes. Has anybody experienced anything similar? Any ideas how to further track down the root of this issue?

On an Linux based system I created a WLAN Hotspot. I want to provide a single webpage via a webserver on this system. When I connect my Android devices to it they expect to get internet over this connection. But since the Linux host is offline the Android devices are able to see only the webpage and can't reach the internet any longer. I don't want the connected Smartphones to lose their normal connectivity. Is it technically possible (for example by using any special WLAN settings or Hotspot configuration) to tell Android devices anyhow to use the WLAN connection only for accessing the single hosted webpage and to use their own mobile Internet (cell net) for any other internet access? This question implies the question if it is possible to use mobile internet via cell network while beeing connected to a WLAN network on Android devices. The Linux system currently is a Ubuntu Desktop machine and will be a Raspbian (Debian) on a Pi later on.

I wanted to share files between my computer and android device but always connecting them with a cable is a trouble. Is there a way to use my phone's WLAN network and my PC's WLAN to do this(without any internet connection), kind of like how Filetransfer software works on two android devices? The file transfer software that I mention of only ranges for a short distance for android devices, I just want to use the two WLAN networks of my PC and android devices to share files between PC and my device and use no internet resources at all since the network here is not so good.

Android sometimes has this strange habit of not automatically reconnecting, when it looses connection to the router. I have an Android tablet running 24/7 using a bot to do stuff on the Internet. But sometimes, the connection breaks, and i have to manually click on the wlan symbol in the dropdown thingy the force android to reconnect the the router. This is annoying, because I have to check multple times a day, whether the bot is still working and reconnect if not. This happens approximatly once/twice a week. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Tab SM-T230, Android 4.4.2 Does anyone know how to fix the problem/why android does that?
