I am trying to use an application which requires me to send a message to its service from my phone number. The service is in a different country than where I am so the messages are being sent to the wrong number. I am trying to get these messages to be sent to the correct country. I don't have any ways of changing this through the app. Would there be a setting or a 3rd party app which can force a country code on all messages being sent?

I've been looking on the internet for an answer, to no avail. I have a phone mostly used in France, I recently brought to the US with a US sim card. Unfortunately, most contacts were added with the default French format (ten-digit number starting by "06" or "07"). Unfortunately, here in the US, one would need to have the country code in front of the number (+336 instead of 06) for the text to go through the US network. And this is where Android shows its weaknesses. Indeed, even if you: 1. delete a complete SMS conversation 2. add the country code to the contact, and then change one digit at the end of the contact so the number associated to the conversation should be removed from the system 3. reboot the phone 4. wait 1 day for anything delayed to take effect 5. change the digit back into the real number, this time with country code 6. try to send a text by explicitly typing in the number (not the contact name) with +33 Then, it does not matter that you have done steps 1-5, Android will still "snap" your complete number with country code, to the default one he had (and still remembers somehow), which was without. It now comes to the extent that I especially pay attention when writing a new contact, to *always* add the country code, since the first time the system sees the number, so that it can never dream of removing that country code by itself. I have tried installing a third-party SMS app like Pulse SMS, but it uses Android's built in SMS contact book, so same "snap" problem. What I would like instead, would be an SMS app that ignores the contact book, or recreates its own from the real contact book (not the image of the contact book stored in the SMS app), so that I can finally "force" the country code onto the SMS app (or more simply, that adding the country code in the address book would add it in the SMS app, which would be normal behavior), so the SMS can be sent, otherwise, it can't! Does anyone know of such a low-level SMS app, or of a way to trick the built-in app to finally use the country code? Thanks!

The other day I noticed that the international area prefix "+54 9" had started appearing in front of about half of my contacts in Android's native Messenger app. I can still send and receive messages from those contacts (verified with my wife's phone). But it's still annoying, and I worry that I'm getting charged extra by my phone company. When I go into my contacts and try to edit the numbers, the prefix is no longer there, but it shows up again the next time I add them to a texting thread. Has anybody ever experienced this?

Is it possible to modify the Caller ID shown on my phone?
I live in South Korea and receive a lot of calls from overseas. One thing that bothers me is that because of the local regulations, international caller IDs always contain an international prefix as follows. From Wikipedia: > South Korea: 001, 002, 003xx, 005, 006, 007xx, 008 Because of those prefixes, reading call logs is quite unintuitive. Is there a way to replace those prefixes with a plus sign so that I see nicely formatted numbers like +1 (352) 000-1111 instead of 00213520001111?

My contacts have their phone number in the international format. It needs to be this way, otheriwse I can't call them from another country. As an example +64 21 1234567 But the incoming calls have the local number, so the software can not correlate them with the contacts. That is, I can't tell who is calling. Example 021 1234567 Points to note (all phone models are Samsung) 1. On my previous phone, S6, things worked just fine as they did on S4 before that. 2. Now that I have migrated to S7, I have the above problem (with the same contacts that were migrated across). 3. My wife had this issue with her S5 and I managed to fix with some setting. 4. My wife migrated to Note 5 and all still works fine for her. 5. I have gone through all the settings I can think of, several times but have not found any that will fix this. 6. I can fix it by adding the local number to the contact as well the international format. WIth several hundred contacts, this is a lot of work and will still give problems when I am outside the country. 7. The SMS system works fine, its just the voice calls. 8. I am still with the same provider. Where is the setting to fix this ?

In my country, we have to use a prefix before dialing an international number, depending on which provider we use. For example, I use an international calling company for which I have to dial 019 before dialing the international number. Now, having to edit each and every international phone number in my address book to add a 109 would be annoying. And when I move providers, having to do the whole process again would be very annoying. Is there a way to tell Android, "every time you see a +, just dial 019 instead"? Or any other solution? (I use Cyanogenmod.)

In an earlier question, I asked [how to handle international phone book entries while traveling internationally](https://android.stackexchange.com/q/20964) . The simple answer was simply to store phone numbers in their international form, which works like a charm, except for one thing. Incoming text messages don't always get assigned to the proper contact. I may send a text to contact Bob, who's phone number is +52 333 555 12 12 (a Mexican number). He gets the text just fine, but when he replies, the message appears to come from simply 333 555 12 12. As a result, I end up with two conversations, one to 'Bob', and one to 333 555 12 12, which isn't associated with any of my contacts. Is there a way to make my phone recognize these numbers as the same (without creating duplicate entries for all of my contacts--one with the +52 and one without)?

Convert + to 00 for international calling
I am currently overseas, using a foreign SIM card in my phone. Since I travel often, all of my contacts are stored in international format (e.g. +12125551212 or +4474567899). I am currently overseas, using a foreign SIM card in my phone. Since I travel often, all of my contacts are stored in international format (e.g. +12125551212 or +4474567899). However, my foreign carrier does not allow international dialing via +countrycode (i.e. +1), only via 00countrycode (i.e. 001). Additionally, I had thought I would be able to use Google Voice for my calls back to the U.S. and therefore have my Google Voice caller ID show on outbound calls, but Google Voice also dials the access number via +countrycode so the call fails as well. Is there any way to set my phone to automatically dial 00 instead of the + without having to modify all of my contacts? **Edit:** I just noticed there are several apps that do this. If anyone knows of a native solution, please reply. **Edit 2:** I just tried a couple of these apps. While they do work, when I try to use them with Google Voice, they replace the + prefix for the destination number, not the Google Voice access number. I need a way to have Google Voice dial its access number with 001 instead of +1.

I do a fair amount of international traveling (currently mostly between the U.S. and Mexico, but will be visiting Europe, Africa, and South America soon, too), and am looking for a dialing app that lets me set international dialing rules, so to speak, for each of my contacts. [This post](http://androidforums.com/android-applications/413525-international-dialing-codes-app.html) describes pretty well what I'm looking for, and an app for PalmOS that apparently did it pretty well. In short, I should be able to: * Specify a country for each contact phone number * Specify the country where I am located (either automatically by GPS location, or I can select my location, or a dialing profile, or whatever) * Then when I dial, it will automatically dial the appropriate country code before the number. Example scenario: > * I have a contact entry for Bob, who's phone number is 123-555-1234, and he is in the U.S. > * When I am in the U.S., Bob is automatically dialed as 123-555-1234 > * When I am in Mexico, Bob is automatically dialed as 00-1-123-555-1234 *or* > * I have a contact entry for Alice, who's phone number is 33-33-12-34-56, and she is in Mexico. > * When I am in the U.S., Alice is automatically dialed as 011-52-33-33-12-34-56 > * When I am in Mexico, Alice is automatically dialed as 33-33-12-34-56 Please note this question is *not* about how to select the cheapest calling plan for each number, or making international calls with Skype or another VoIP service. It's simply about dialing the proper international exit codes when doing standard "direct-dial" with whichever mobile provider I'm using.

Caller ID for SMS doesn't recognize contacts unless I add the country code to all
If I have a contact with the number 099123456, the caller ID doesn't recognize it, I need to change it to +59899123456. My phone is a Galaxy S2. I have friends with other android phones (Galaxy S1, Nexus S) and the same carrier, but they don't have this problem. Could it be some kind of setting?

According to the log, I called a number starting with +328 which was an international call to Belgium, and in fact some people answered me in French. I tried to repeat the bug, but without success. I only know that in some (rare) occasions the plus sign is automatically added to the call. This is causing me trouble because I don't want to pay for undesired international calls. How can I avoid this? I know that I never manually dialed the number, I always choose it from my contact widget menu.
