So I'm using a custom kernel that overclocked my CPU and GPU. I turned down the frequency to stock but the big cpu freq can't be set(restore itself to default after some time), causing my phone to heat up if I'm having heavy workload/game. When my phone is really hot, kernel panic comes in and reboot my phone, I hate it when it happen while I'm gaming. I looked up why it reboot and the cause is kernel panic. So I searched how to disable kernel panic and so I did. My phone doesn't reboot anymore. But I'm thinking is it okay to disable it? I can't use another kernel cause it the only one kernel that support custom rom and having hotplug (really helpful at saving battery and less cpu heat). And I don't know how to recompile a kernel. My tweaks.sh
sysctl -w kernel.panic=0
sysctl -w kernel.panic_on_oops=0
sysctl -w kernel.softlockup_panic=0

Add more clock speeds
I know that the phone's kernel contains the clock speeds but is there a way to add your own clock speeds? What do I have to do to edit the kernel, where is the the clock speed data stored?

Cpu frequency keep going down by it's own

I am experiencing problems with Samsung Galaxy Note 2. - Build number(ROM): DN4 v2.1 - Baseband version: N7100NEUFND1 - Android version: 4.4.4 - Kernel: AGNI KERNEL (March 29,2015) --- I have overclocked CPU from 1.6 GHZ to 2.0 GHZ and I use SetCPU app to control CPU values like: * When screen is off, change governor to **Ondemand** with min and max frequencies at 200 MHZ and 400 MHZ. * When screen is on, change governor to **Performance** with min and max frequencies at 1000 MHZ and 1800 MHZ. The problem is that now whenever I set the values, the values drops down to 1200 MHZ and goes down to 500 MHZ gradually. Mostly, it stays stuck at 1000 MHZ causing the device to lag especially while gaming. Previously, I experienced problems with all other governors except **Performance, Pegasusq and Powersaver**, even when I set the Max value to 1.8 GHZ it somehow restricted the Max frequency to 1.2 GHZ. Now I think this has affected all the governors. I have also updated my kernel but the problem persists. Any solutions?

Has anybody done any serious measurements as to effects of SetCPU (or a similar power-saving app)? I mean, are Google and Linux developers really that stupid not to properly implement power management in-system? Especially so considering the Android's paramount problem of battery life. The SetCPU promo video only shows how the MHz numbers jump up and down, but is it noticeably better for the battery than processor idling done by the OS itself?

I am going to overclock my 600 MHz to around 700-800+. Nothing too big of a jump, and don't need any help either. The question I'm concerned about is what kind of performance does this slight speed increase yield? Will it make any big difference that can be noticed? Note that this is simply overclocking the CPU and changing **nothing else** with my configuration in idle. I have heard some argue that raising clock speed alone doesn't really guarantee better performance, since microarchitecture and bus speeds are what determines ultimate performance. For example, on Super N64 emulator I am getting like 7 frames per-second running Super Mario 64 on my current 600 MHz. Will the increase make any immediate difference? How can this be properly estimated by incremental clock speed, etc.? Will some apps run faster, will more background apps do their job better, will I execute/boot faster, etc.? Basically, I want to know what to expect within the range of aforementioned clock speed increase.

You're reading it right, I'm trying to do the oposite as others. **I want to use CPU for rendering.**

The reason is simple. My tablet is freezing very frequently. I have no warranty, so I'm trying to solve problem by lowering performance of device. I isolated a problem and I'm sure freezing is caused by GPU. It freezes on gfx intese moments(few seconds of video playback), or on overlay (Eg. opening search dialog in google play causes almost instant freeze).

So the question stands:
**How can I disable GPU rendering on my device**(I have terminal with root access if it helps)?

What I already tried:
1. Underclocking CPU has no effect on freezing. I tried powersave mode with 200MHz, with no impact on problem.
2. Underclocking GPU has also no effect on freezing.

I installed the App. Set CPU so that when I have either Google Maps or Chrome running the CPU settings which were at a default range of 200 MHz to 1.60Ghz to be bumped up to 400MHz to 1.60MHz. Will this damage my phone? I can feel a tangible difference with the slight bump up. Will this overclocking degrade the phones chips??

Are the frequencies suggested by SetCPU for each device based on a certain algorithm or was it worked out device specifically or are they just arbitrarily formed upon extensive testing? I have an old HTC Wildfire which has a maximum frequency at 768MHz The steps of frequencies show by SetCPU itself is 176,264,352,518,576,614,633,652,672,691,710,729,748,768 all in MHz. I eventually created a setcpu.txt file which I put in the root of the SD-Card. The thing is when I had a frequency of 800MHz SetCPU still read it but the max frequency it could obviously touch was 768MHz. I repeat, my question is how are the frequencies listed by SetCPU formulated?
