Occasionally (maybe twice a month) my **Milestone** just reboots (goes black and then to the Android start-up screen, but not all the way to the Motorola screen).
I presume that such behaviour could be caused a poorly written app. I have uninstalled a few but to no avail. Is there any sort of log that I could pull which would shed some light on this or even a dump file?
Could this restarting issue be caused by something else?
I am currently running **Android 2.1** (no OTA update available for me, yet) on a Milestone and have had this problem since I bought it in December (when it was 2.0).

How do I configure Google Latitude to auto-update with location regularly on a Motorola Droid?

On the surface, this is same question as this question , but I've made the changes according to that question's accepted answer and I still cannot get latitude to auto-update unless I have an app using GPS open.
If I fire up Google maps or MyTracks, a location is sent. but once I close or switch to a new application, my location no longer transmits. It has been like this for several weeks.
My Android version is 2.2.1. GPS is on, but the GPS icon doesn't appear until I start an app that uses GPS.
I actually seem to remember that being a requested feature for an earlier version of android (1.something).
Am I missing something else?
More data: Google maps version 4.5.0 (#4519) 5.0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAh4yiCzgKw I guess I'll need to retest and see if I still have the issue)

Muted all contacts somehow in the Samsung messages, I've literally tried every common sense solution

I've looked up countless forums and message boards and everyone seriously gives the common sense easy answers. There are three
1. To the right of the contact blah blah blah.
2. Power settings on the way the phone manages individual apps blah blah blah.
3. Did you check if the sound is on.
I'm pretty good when it comes to tech related issues and I've never seen anything like this.

I recently bought an unlock code to unlock a Motorola DROID 2 Global which was locked to the Verizon Wireless network.
Navigating to the *About phone* section: Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Status, I saw two IMEI numbers.
I used the top one (IMEI) as the code to complete the unlock process. However, when I tried to unlock the device, it rejected the code.
- Should I have used the IMEI SV?
- I have Android 2.3.4 but this device is normally equipped with 2.2, could that be the problem?

Does a Droid 3 support wireless charging?
I tried using wireless charging with my Droid 3 phone, and the LED for charge indication started blinking. I wanted to know if this means that it supports wireless charging.

While traversing the 'installed' list of Google Play, I noticed a very odd app named "Souper Android Development".
What's so suspicious about it is:
- **It does absolutely nothing to explain what it is, what it does, or what permissions are required**
- There is no option to open/uninstall
- I cannot find it by searching for it
- It is dimmed in the list with the other apps
- It is not listed when I browse play.google.com/apps
- Nobody (in the comments) seems to know where they got it.
*Notice the app is dimmed (grayed out)*
___
*I scrolled to the top of the page during screen capture. Notice how many standard features are missing*
I have no idea where it came from. I imagine it was either part of the humongous set of bloatware provided by Verizon or, what I'm thinking is more likely, the method used to root my phone: [Pete's Motorola Root Tools](http://www.psouza4.com/Bionic/) . I have scanned my phone with Lookout but it hasn't found anything.
1. Can anyone provide any insight as to what this app is?
2. How should I remove this app? I am having difficulty locating it in "System App Remover".
3. Should I be suspicious of the rooting tool I used and take any action? I have been told this is legit. Whether it is or not, it doesn't seem to be in any way part of the problem.
4. How can you trace a market app to its package name?
***
## Update
While searching for other complaints on this app, I dug up:
* [A link to it on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.contacts.preloaded)(removed) . I'm still curious as to how someone obtained this link, I couldn't find it in a search or any references to it.
* It says it's not compatible with any of my devices but it's installed.
* No one has found any traces of it on their phone (probably because it's 'linking' to com.motorola.contacts.preloaded)
* It seems to only be affecting Droid 3 users.
## Update 3/28/2012
Final update/Brief summary:
* 3/26: App showed up without user-approved install under the name "Brett Henderson" with no option to open or uninstall. Later renamed "Souper Android Development".
* 3/27: Clicked the app's "share" button to view its link to the app on phone (com.motorola.contacts.preloaded). This confirms Richard's suspicion that it was merely sharing its name with a legit system app as opposed to installing junk on the phone. Further reading revealed that each app has a unique ID to prevent one app from providing "updates" to another with the same name.
* 3/28: The app was removed from the app market place. As pointed out by Matthew Read, a similar bug happened not too long ago. As of now, I haven't read anything official on this instance.

I used to have an app for my Treo called "Volume Care" that let me boost the volume of my speaker beyond what the factory settings allowed. Is there any app or hack that would allow me to push my Droids speaker further than Motorola wants to allow?
**Edit:** I thought I was clear before, but let me clarify. **I am not looking for just any volume control app**, I have one, I know of many, and believe it or not I am capable of searching the market for the word "volume." I am specifically looking for a solution that will allow me to **push the volume out of my speaker past that current manufacturer set limits.**
**Update:** I just added a bounty so I'll add a bit more clarification. I have seen apps out there that work with HTC phones only. This solution/app/hack must work on the Original Moto Droid rooted or not, I want a noticeable increase in the volume.

I have a Moto Droid, running Android 2.2 (Froyo), although this behavior also existed on 2.1. Whenever I plug something in the headphone jack, the Music app will start up (sometimes with a bit of a delay) and start playing something (generally Christmas music).
More often than not, I'm plugging in headphones to use Google Listen to listen to podcasts... if Listen is already running, I may end up with both apps playing at the same time.
The Music app doesn't seem to have any settings that would affect this behavior. Is there some way, short of deleting all of the music so that there's nothing *to* play?

I'm trying to unlock my phone using this tutorial.
It stated that:
Prerequisites
- A computer with DROID 4 adb drivers installed . alternate link
- Enable USB Debugging on your device by going to Developers options.
- Download RAZR BLADE exploit by djrbliss from here.
But there are no Linux driver, or is it not needed for Linux?
Why I need this?
because I need to remove /system/app/VZWPhoneService.apk and /system/app/VZWPhoneService.odex. then reboot. , because the other way already expired . So I could use this phone using another carrier.
The alternate method also requires Windows OS.

I had heard that soft reset (power button+volume down) fixes it, but not even that worked. It would only register it as volume down. I plugged it into adb and rebooted it that way, to no avail.
What can I do?
