How to permanently disable the annoying "RCS chats" popup in Messages app
I have a Pixel 3. I try to avoid using SMS and instead use Signal whenever possible. When I do use SMS (the Messages app), I don't want "RCS chats" to be enabled. But nearly every time I open the Messages app, I'm prompted with a popup where the "Agree" button is very prominent. [

iPhone users are able to add emoji reactions to my messages, yet I cannot do the same back.
I can react to messages from some other contacts though, presumably those with Android devices.
I am using Google Messages and have all of the RCS chats enabled and verified.

Currently, when someone sends a messages in that chat, it plays a custom ringtone that I set up. However, this has a problem: if I am not looking at my phone and I hear the notification sound, I cannot tell at a(n auditory) glance who just sent a message.
**Is there a way to set up individual ringtones based on sender in an RCS chat?** (I already know how to do this on a per-chat basis: Chat > triple dots > Group Details > Notifications > Ringtone. I am asking about doing this on a per-person basis in a single chat.)

**Question**: Any ideas why, when trying to text people I *used to be able to text with RCS*, I can no longer do so? The message just fails and disappears when I hit send

For example it's now showing the received and red check marks. RCS is already turned on in settings. I tried toggling it but it didn't help. I'm using the stock SMS app. How can I fix this?

Google Messages: "This RCS chat is no longer end to end encrypted." Why is RCS so flaky?

I have recently ditched Signal and started using Google Messages with RCS instead.
Many times, sending fails, either from my side or from the other party (several different people, all using Android). I see these RCS warnings even though none of us are changing any settings about RCS, other stuff in Google Messages, or even anything else on the phones; it also seems unrelated to whether the phones are on 4G, WiFi, or roaming. RCS just feels like a dice-roll.
- "This RCS chat is no longer end to end encrypted"
- *messages fail*
- *time passes*
- "This RCS chat is now end to end encrypted"
- *messages work fine*
- ***repeat***
What can we do to make RCS work reliably?

One of my friends also have an Android phone, and ever since we've been texting, we've been using the RCS chat.
Recently, I went outside the country, and the chat defaulted to SMS instead. Fine. But since I came back, when my friend texts me, it shows that the message is an RCS message, but I am only offered an SMS in reply.
I tried all the options I could figure out. I cleared the cache, restarted, in airplane mode and not, both for the Messages and Carrier Services. I've disabled chat-restart-enabled chat.
Nothing works. Does anyone have any idea what I can do, other than stop texting with my friend?
If it matters, I'm using a Pixel 3XL with up to date Android.

Cannot disable MMS link sharing without creating Samsung account
When I try to send a picture using the standard SMS/MMS app "Messages", my Samsung S20 does NOT send it as an MMS. I found these Samsung instructions on how to disable this "feature". But when I click on the "Off" icon to disable link sharing, I come to screen offering "Connect to your Samsung account" or "Continue with Google", and no other option to continue.
So how can I disable this without creating a Samsung account or giving Samsung access to a Google account, which should all be completely irrelevant to sending MMS messages.

RCS Messaging Encryption
With the launch of Google's RCS messaging protocol, is there any reason as to why it doesn't support end-to-end encryption, or is it a feature that they intend to implement at a later time?
