In Safari on iOS, go to https://translate.google.com/ . Configure it to translate to some language. Type in a word. Wait a second. Bookmark the page and then copy the URL using the "Copy" button in the panel brought up by pressing the button on the toolbar with the square and up arrow. Compare the copied URL to the one saved in the bookmark. They will be different. Why is that and how do I make Safari save the copy-to-clipboard URL as the bookmark URL? Note: This happens on some other sites, too. Editing the bookmark after saving it is NOT the solution, because I shouldn't have to double check that the right URL got saved.

Is there an app or automation that can alter clipboard text to replace spaces with hyphens?

Is there a utility or path to streamline taking a string from the clipboard and replacing spaces with hyphens, and vice versa, on demand? > N 010 377 1 to > N-010-377-1 and the reverse If this were a one-time batch operation, or contained within a single app I controlled, it would be a non-issue. Find and Replace right? This is something I do frequently, but it is a single string at a time between 3rd party applications (Excel, Safari, Preview, etc.). My current workflow: 1. Copy "N 010 377 1" from PDF file in Preview 2. Paste "N 010 377 1" into browser (Safari) or spreadsheet field (Excel) 3. Manually add or remove spaces or hyphens via keyboard In a perfect world, I would have a clipboard utility like Jumpcut where a hotkey combo would do this for me when I pasted. Something like: ⌘⇧- would paste data from clipboard replacing spaces with hyphens ⌘⇧␣ would paste data from clipboard replacing hyphens with spaces I don't mind doing some work to set this up, but utilizing it needs to be super simple (i.e., not launching an app and doing find replace). Thank you.

Shift + Click to select a range of text

At least in Chrome (still works in Notes though). Questions: 1. Can I re-enable my old way of selecting text? 1. Is there an equally fast way of selecting and copying a few pages of text?

When I am copying files from one location to another on my MacBook Pro (both local to the MacBook Pro) the file copy progress appears on the MacBook Pro as expected, however, the progress also appears on my Mac Studio. I can cancel the progress indicator on the Mac Studio without impacting the copy progress on the MacBook Pro. Also, the copy progress indicator still persists on the MacBook Pro. I would like to disable this secondary indicator on the Mac Studio, but I'm not sure what mechanism causes this? I was thinking something to do with Handoff , but again I am unsure. Both are on the same local network. This is a screen shot of what appears on my Mac Studio. Its the same progress indicator thats on the MacBook Pro. enter image description here

It's driving me crazy! I don't know what could be causing this. I suspect there may be an app I have running in the background that's messing with the clipboard, though. When the clipboard changes, is there any way to detect which app changed it and what it changed it to? I'd love to just be able to print out what the changes are to try and track this issue down.

How could I do that? On Chrome I had an extension that let me select links like normal text by holding shift. I hope there is a similar way for me to select the text of a link in Safari.

There is always the slow way of going to each of the alias, right clicking it, copying the original to a predefined folder, repeat this procedure for every alias and finally compress the folder with all the original pdfs Evidently this will take forever! Is there a fastest way? For example using Terminal. Related, Is it possible to copy the original file of an alias using keyboard shortcuts?

Something broke my quicklook's preview copy shortcut and now when I have a document in preview and select text, hitting cmd+c plays the error sound and the text does not get copied. I can still copy from the right click context menu or if I go in the menu edit > copy. I think it may be due to Raycast, but turning it off and rebooting did not fix the issue... Neither did qlmanage -r cache, nor a multitude of changes in com.apple.finder QLEnableTextSelection Anyone have any other suggestions? Edit: I have talked with a few friends and can confirm this is **not** due to Raycast, as I had three people who do not use it, or any other clipboard manager, tell me they have the same issue. Is it a macOS 15.2 bug? Update: I checked and found that the files that not all files have an issue, specifically .txt, .rtf and .pdf have no issue, however, .docx, .pages, .csv, .numbers, .md and pretty much anything else does. I think it might be an issue office/iWork and quicklook, so I did a qlmanage -p on a docx. And I did indeed got some errors:

As the title suggests, when I copy and paste a piece of text together with an image from Notes into another application, the image turns into a broken placeholder. I have tried this with several apps, both from Notes into the other app, such as Notion, and from other apps into Mac notes. Recently, I have tried with Notion and with the web interface for Zendesk, which I use for work. The text renders fine, but the image is broken. If I copy only the image, then it works fine. I am curious if there is a way to make it so both text and image can be copied together. I am using Alfred's copy history, and using Dropbox Capture for screenshots. I'm not sure if the issue would lie with these tools instead of Mac. I can provide additional information as necessary. enter image description here enter image description here

Also an audible sound is heard twice, so probably ^G (ASCII BELL) is also inserted at the start and end of the pasted text. When I paste the same in an editor, this behaviour is not happening (only /some/path gets pasted). This happens with all text. When I stop and start Terminal.app, the behaviour also disappears. But after a while, it is back again. Any ideas as to what this behaviour is causing?

I've got an older air running Big Sur, updated as far as it'll go. When I copy/paste from or into Text Edit, maybe other programs as well but I've only noticed with Text Edit, the text I copy from or paste into it will contain errors, such as random quotation marks placed in the middle of a word. This doesn't seem to happen when I type in browser windows. I notice the problems often as I'm typing SSML and the mistakes end up being crazy things I would never mistype. I'm wondering if there is a way, maybe in Terminal, to reset or check the inconsistencies between what I'm typing and what is pasted in Text Edit? I would just use another editor but I'm not sure if it's happening system wide and I really like Text Edit. Note: I don't think it's a particular key that's messed up, I think it's some kind of script causing patterns to arise such as "move the period from the sentence of every line containing an "x" 3 spaces to the left. I've checked keyboard shortcuts etc. Also I bought the laptop used, so particularly suspicious of malware.
