I'm in a location with a number of WiFi stations for the SSID, but the one closest to me reboots every few minutes which drops any existing connections. My MacBook proceeds to connect to a weaker, more stable connection, but reverts to the unstable station and the process repeats. Ideally, the owners would simply fix or disable the station, but it has been months now.
Is there way to prevent my MacBook from connecting to this specific station and instead to pick up a weaker but more stable station?

Will iPhone modem and cellular radio turn off if WiFi connected
Imagine an iPhone on a high speed train: the radio will burn extra power to find good signal, while transiting through poor service areas. If I connect the iPhone to the train’s WiFi, does the iPhone power down or at least throttle-back the radio in poor service area?

From my reading, rsrp0 is the best option to get a realistic idea of the true cell signal strength. However when I click on the Serving Cell Measurements, instead of seeing a # of fields like "rsrp1", "rsrp0", etc, I get the below. **Would one of these fields (Measured RSRP perhaps?) provide equivalent information to rsrp0?**

Dream is to have iPhone notify me when I am back in cellular signal range. Standard iOS notification would be great. Sending a text or email would also be fine.
However, any kind of monitoring and/or graphing cellular signal strength over time would suit my purpose.
I do not need to see my signal strength when I'm paying attention. I need to see it when I'm *not* paying attention. Therefore iOS [field test mode](https://www.howtogeek.com/252949/how-to-access-your-iphones-field-test-mode-and-see-your-real-signal-strength/) doesn't help.
I have a bunch of system utilities downloaded that show information about the cellular signal, including whether it's on or off, but none have any graphing or monitoring capabilities, it seems.
I considered Shortcuts but I am behind (iOS 12.0) and Automation (triggered shortcuts) were introduced only in iOS 13. However in Shortcuts in iOS 12, no system utilities were available to get data from anyway. Maybe that changed in iOS 13? (I can't upgrade to 13 yet because an app I need is not compatible yet.)
I considered IFTTT (If This Then That) but that seems entirely focused on web apps, and can not trigger based on an app running locally on your phone, it seems.
So, I'm out of ideas.
BACKGROUND: I have bad cell service in my basement office--most often zero (0) bars and a "No Service" indicator. So I'm using Verizon WiFi calling, since my WiFi router is right next to me. That mostly works, but calls are dropping after 1 to 30 minutes. This thread on the problem suggests that maybe what happens is that cell service pops in for a second, iPhone switches my call from WiFi calling back over to regular cellular calling, but this newly discovered, non-zero cellular signal is either too weak or too short-lived to sustain a phone call, and the call drops.
I'd just like to test that theory by looking at what the cellular signal strength was when the call dropped. Was it non-zero?
Possible?

Today, Apple released their first iOS 11 public beta. As some noticed in earlier versions (first developer beta), using Field Test Mode to permanently switch your signal rating from bars to numbers (like image below) seems to no longer work (For instructions on how to do this up through iOS 10, see https://apple.stackexchange.com/q/140830/178418).
My question is, is there a way to enable this, and what is it? I hope to keep this question/answer updated through the beta phase until the final release, or the option reappears.
This is a random screen capture with the numbers in the corner (iOS 10):
Here it is, automatically reverted to bars with iOS 11:
Edit June 27: I can’t get the Field Test Mode options to finish loading either; has anyone else been able to? My screen just has the "connecting..." circle spinning indefinitely (notice there are bars, not numbers in the top left). If it helps, I’m on AT&T.
Edit July 12: iOS public beta 2 released. Permanent change still it possible, but the options have come back to Field Test Mode:

I have a robust AC1900 Dual band WiFi Card. Its signal is very strong and this causes interference with my AMD RX-650 card, although I had put the cards in as far slots as possible on mainboard. When using the card normally there is no problem. But when using DLNA or AirDrop services, the screen gets a flicker and eventually goes off and on again and is absolutely unusable!
How can I fix the problem without making the card signal too weak and reducing the transfer speed significantly?

We have an old iPhone 5 at work that is used as a general incoming-calls phone. It’s used for very little other than just making and receiving calls.
In general, its reception has always been good and stable, with no unexpected problems.
Lately, however, an issue has started repeating with annoying frequency: when we receive a call and pick up the phone, the conversation goes smoothly for about 20–30 seconds or so, then you hear three short, rapid bleeps (‘doot-doot-doot’), and the connection is dropped. A few seconds later, the signal strength indicator at the top of the screen says “No signal” for about 10–20 seconds. Then full signal comes back and you can continue to make calls as usual.
I haven’t experienced this issue when calling out—only when receiving calls. When calls are not being made, signal strength also seems to be normal (at least I haven’t noticed it cutting out at other times).
The actual signal strength is excellent, so it’s not because of dodgy coverage. We have about ten other phones, both iPhones and Androids, that manage just fine, and this is a recent issue with this one phone as well. Wifi signal/connection is not lost.
I’ve tried Googling for a solution to this issue, but all I’m able to find are countless reports of either people who can’t receive calls at all on their phones (which we can), or people whose phones just generally have bad reception/signal (which ours doesn’t).
I’ve tried toggling basically all the reception/signal/connection-related settings I could find, and the phone has been restarted and switched off/on several times, with no effect.
Is this a known issue that my weak Google-fu is just unable to unearth? And more importantly, _is there a solution for it_?

Recently bought just released Bang-Olufsen H8 headphones (wireless, BT 4.0, atpX A2DP). These paired perfectly with iPhone 5 and my MacBook Pro 15" early 2011, however, sound drops out on the MBP with little to no "provocation" of head turn; forget about range/direct line of sight distance--can't get more than 2' away without sound drop occurring. Avg raw RSSI is approx -72. At first it was thought that b/c MBP was BT 2.1 and the phones were 4.0 they were incompatible. After I modified the MB appropriately with new Broadcom Airport/Bluetooth card to enable BT 4.0 connectivity and found no change at all in sound drops/range, I discovered through conversation with Bluetooth expert that BT is backwards compatible so he wasn't surprised at all with continued sound drops despite modification to MBP. If the sound drops for more than a second or two, the audio somehow speeds up to sync with the place where the sound should be.
B&O's "stellar" customer service told me: "I received feedback from Denmark, In principle a Bluetooth 4.0 enabled product with A2DP Bluetooth profile should be able to send music to the BeoPlay H8. Practical tests have shown a very differentiated market picture. Most newer computers with updated software and adequate hardware should be able to connect to BeoPlay H8, but we are not able to recommend or support this setup." I'm sure I can get them to regret that statement, but I'm much more interested in getting the BT headphones to work with my MBP. In my research so far I've found that these phones behave similarly with both iOS devices as well as OS X. There appears to be no rhyme or reason why this is. For me, I have no problem using them with my iPhone 5; not so for others around the globe.
Question is: Is it the MBP antennae or is it the B&O H8 antenna? Which begs the second question: why is the performance so random--worldwide even--for wireless phones, these H8s in particular?
Thanks so much for your help.

I'm using Iphone 3g for a year exactly and have no problems at all until recently I went to Malaysia. it says 'no service' where the carrier name supposed to be. so I assume its because since I'm out of the country, Singtel can't get coverage where Im at. I returned to Singapore 2 days later and still it says 'no service'. I tried doing all hard reset, clean restore, wipe everything out, tried toggling the airplane mode, still no improvement.. I thought maybe my line got cut and called Singtel but they assured me that the line is working perfectly fine. The singtel iphone tech support guy tried advising me to do the network reset but still no use.
I doubt it has anything to do with my sim card as I tried using it on other nokia phones and I can get full signal. I'm sure its the phone with the problem.
I can't get a replacement phone from Apple as my 1 year warranty ended last month! why is this happening! feels like iphones go into self destruct mode just when the warranty finish so we have to fork out money in repairs.
anyone experiencing the same problem?
it's been 5 days.

Here's my setup:
iMac with BeaconOSX
iPhone with Proximitask
I am successfully broadcasting a signal and am getting notifications as I come and go to my office. However, the reminders are getting triggered well outside of the building and sometimes rapidly & repeatedly triggering when I'm 5 rooms away just sitting in the conference room.
BeaconOSX has 3 values I can adjust (other than the UUID):
- major (5)
- minor (5000)
- measured pwr (currently set at -10)
The initial value of measured pwr was -59, and that's when it was triggering things on my phone from outside the building. Increasing that value to -10 seems to have helped somewhat. Today's reminders went off just outside my section of the building, but I'd like it to me as accurate as when I step inside my office.
I've read that beacons need to be calibrated, but with just BeaconOSX and Proximitask, I don't think I know how to do that. I also read that increasing measured pwr *increases* the signal strength, making distance estimation more accurate. Is reducing that value also a valid way of preventing the triggerings from happening outside my office? Is there software I can use for calibration?

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 6 (from 5.1.1 it had before), and since then I'm having lots of signal troubles: the signal is always low and unreliable, and the iPhone continuously switches between 3G and GPRS (also draining the battery in the process). Internet access is almost unusable, and sometimes I can't even make or receive calls.
I'm in Italy, my carrier is TIM; however, this is not a carrier problem, and is unrelated to the actual place I'm in: I'm having these signal troubles in the very same places where I had full signal strength before the IOS upgrade.
I've been searching around for a while, and looks like this is quite a common problem; various solutions have been proposed (including downgrading to IOS 5 on the assumption that this is caused by some bug in IOS 6), but no agreement has been reached about how to actually solve it.
How to fix this?

Since upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.1, I've periodically seen 1 bar or "Searching..." at home and work where I used to have 4 or 5 bars. And I've sent text messages with 4 bars, only to have it immediately drop to 1 and the text message error out.
I'm trying to learn if I'm alone with this issue (and should therefore bring my phone to my local Apple Store—after trying a restore just so I can say I did when they inevitably suggest that), or if this is a common problem (and we should then file bugs at bugreport.apple.com).
**Update** (to answer Louis Gerbarg 's question): I've installed every new update, so I believe I upgraded from 4.0.2 to 4.1. I think I noticed Apple's bar display calibration changes after the 4.0.1 upgrade, though the difference was subtle. I did not have dropped call problems and errors sending text messages until the 4.1 upgrade.
**Update #2:** I restored my iPhone to factory defaults (but still with 4.1 installed), and still had the problems. So I took it to my local Apple Genius Bar and explained this, and they exchanged the phone for a new one. The new iPhone 3GS had 4.0.2. But I still don't have the problems after installing 4.1. This must have been a hardware issue.
