I do know that the venerable

has been introduced — so how can I know things are working or need adjustment to keep time?

So I think it would be better if there is an app that can automatically track my screen time on each desktop. That means I can create a separate desktop for each task, and when I switch to it, the time tracker would automatically start. When I switch to another desktop, or when I lock the screen, or when the computer sleeps, it should automatically stop the timer.

How can I prevent this error from occurring? Please find attached a screenshot of the error message. I also reported this issue to the developer on GitHub .

I am a freelance graphic designer and need to track the time spent on projects so I can bill my clients accordingly. There are a *ton* of services and applications out there but somehow none of them really fits.
Here's what I am looking for:
- A stable desktop app. I don't want to do my time tracking in the browser.
- Stop recording when screensaver or sleep mode starts.
- A product I can buy, not a subscription service. I feel more comfortable and in control if I pay $100 upfront than pay $10 a month
- An easy-to-use UI that tracks time by client, project and task.
- Billing support is a bonus, but not necessary.
Here is what I don't need, so if the solution contains it, at least is shouldn't interfere with a simple workflow and efficiency:
- Not necessary: Smartphone app, team collaboration, cloud.
All I want is a pay-once, stand-alone, well-supported and nicely designed time-tracking app. Do products exist in this space for OSX?

I'm searching for an automatic time tracking tool for Mac OS X. I regularly mess up manual time tracking with timers etc., so I want something more automatic:
The application should run in background and track more or less everything I do - which applications are active, which sites I browse, how long I'm idle etc.
It would then list all the things I do in a timeline and let me specify filters like "Xcode in foreground", "browsing developer.apple.com", etc.
Using these filters, I could check how long I worked on what *after* I left work.
Is there an application which does this? I'm aware of a website and a client for it, but I'm absolutely NOT comfortable with putting all the things I do on some random website.

I've a bad memory, therefore I can't recall where I spent my time during last day, last week and definitely not last month.
However I still need to log my hours and generate reports to track the projects evolutions and time spent in each feature.
Ok, nothing new so far. Problem is I used [ManicTime](http://www.manictime.com/) and I loved, it silently collected all my info day after day and when I had to check where I spent my hours in certain day, I simply check by hour by day and it was perfect.
But on mac... I found a huge list of application that or doesn't do a proper tracking (harvest, timings, tyme) or doesn't give me reports I want like RescueTime.
Is there any application that silently does the job? As I work with multiple virtual machines, cross platform support is a big plus.

Unfortunately my AirPods are not listed under Find My (probably I forgot to activate that function). So what remains is to check the last time I was using them/they were in the Bluetooth range of my Mac.
In this precise moment I can ask my Mac to give me the list of visible (both connected and not) Bluetooth devices, the question is: **is the history (time included) of connected/visible bluetooth devices logged somewhere in macOS?**

I have a mid 2011 27" iMac running Mavericks (10.9.1). I updated from Mountain Lion this Fall when Mavericks was released. I never had any problem before with my system clock.
Since installing Mavericks my clock consistently gains about 20 seconds per day. I have my Time Zone correctly set and "Set Date and Time Automatically" is checked in my Date & Time system preferences. It is set to use "Apple/Americas/U.S. (time.apple.com)"
When I open the Date & Time System Preferences pane my clock gets adjusted immediately to the correct time, but without opening the pane, it gets off track pretty quickly.
I have rebooted, checked and unchecked the box to set the date and time automatically and neither seems to have helped.
Any solutions or ideas?
----------
**UPDATE:**
I have made what feels like progress. Question: How can I tell if my mac is keeping the clock updated properly? and its accepted answer by grgarside provided a lot of helpful troubleshooting help. My drift is a whopping 499.988 (gains 43.19 seconds per day)!
Most importantly, pacemaker is running every 5 - 15 seconds, as evidenced by my stem log, however, every time it runs it gets an error:
Feb 1 11:53:29 jsw.local pacemaker: adjtime: Operation not permitted
Feb 1 11:53:39 jsw.local pacemaker: adjtime: Operation not permitted
Feb 1 11:53:51 jsw.local pacemaker: adjtime: Operation not permitted
Feb 1 11:53:59 jsw.local pacemaker: adjtime: Operation not permitted
Feb 1 11:54:09 jsw.local pacemaker: adjtime: Operation not permitted
Feb 1 11:54:19 jsw.local pacemaker: adjtime: Operation not permitted
It seems I have a permission problem, but I cannot figure it out. I have unloaded and reloaded the pacemaker plsit via launchctl
sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.pacemaker.plist
sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.pacemaker.plist
here is a text export of my com.apple.pacemaker.plist
{
Label = "com.apple.pacemaker";
ProgramArguments = (
"/usr/libexec/pacemaker",
"-b",
"-e",
"0.0001",
"-a",
10,
);
KeepAlive = {
PathState = {
"/private/var/db/ntp.drift" = YES;
};
};
}
my /private/var/db/ntp.drift file is owned by root:wheel and its permissions are 644, /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.pacemaker.plist has exactly the same ownership and permissions.
I hope this update provides enough additional information so that someone can get me past this issue.

for e.g I'm online now since 102 min , the result of my script return
{"Online for 102:40"}
How can I get the value of the totals minutes spend in the same status ?
e.g if I go online 10min then offline 5min, then online again 50 min
I would need to save value to get some report like :
> " Total Online time : 60min, Offline 5min "
I wrote this for now but this only get the current value in the specific status as text.
repeat
delay 1
tell application "System Events"
tell process "app name"
try
set mYTAuxChecker to get value of static text of group 2 of toolbar 1 of window "app name" as text
on error
--
end try
end tell
end tell
end repeat
to get the int I did this
set s to quoted form of mYTAuxChecker
do shell script "sed s/[a-zA-Z\\']//g <<< " & s
set dx to the result
set numlist to {}
repeat with i from 1 to count of words in dx
set this_item to word i of dx
try
set this_item to this_item as number
set the end of numlist to this_item
end try
end repeat
and to get the world I made this
set mYTAuxCheckerAsText to first word of mYTAuxChecker
but then how can I summarise each statues and sum the total

Essentially, it seems basically "a report on when emails were sent". (I guess, using Mail.app.)
Can anyone think of something like this?
Or perhaps, at least generally some Mac-focussed employee time tracking (or spying!) thing.
You can imagine it would be quite useful for customer support stuff, you could get reports like...
> Employee 13. 48 emails sent. 1015-1845 hrs
.. etc.
Any ideas?

I'm looking for a very simple app to allow me to track my time on particular user-defined **projects** or **tasks**.
However, my requirement is slightly different to those in questions such as Is there a good time automatic time tracking tool for Mac OS X as I don't need something that will automatically track my time spent in particular applications such as Time Sink or Time Track Pro . Rather, what I want to be able to do in a rough "must have" to "nice to have" order is:
- Add user-defined projects/tasks to a list each with its own timer
- Manually start and stop project/task timers as I switch projects
- Idle timer to stop recording activity if I leave the computer for a period of time
- Access the app from the menubar (ability to hide dock icon would be a bonus too)
- Create subtasks from the main project/task
So, apologies in advance for the following, but in my head the interface might look something like the following, but again I'm **totally open to suggestions**:
Project Time
---------------------
Project X 0:32
Project Y 4:00
Project Z 1:25
Subtask 1 1:00
Subtask 2 0:25
For example, Harvest looks perfect for what I need, apart from the fact that there's a $12 per month cost. I'm not against paying for an application, but I'd like to avoid ongoing charges if possible.

I'm looking for a quality time-tracking app/system. Here are the features I need:
* Works on both OS X and iOS with syncing (iCloud or Dropbox preferred)

Most of the apps I've tried don't meet one or both of these criteria. I have no use for billing features, so those are of no concern to me.
My environment is such that I work on many similar projects across multiple buildings. I also attend meetings with people from different buildings and departments, often in multiple configurations. I want to be able to drill down and see how much time I am devoting to each project, each building, each department, each staff member, and so on. The only way I can think this might work is with tags. Projects alone don't allow this.

I'm looking for an app for tracking activities like **walking, running or bicycling**. Lots of people I know with Android or Nokia phones use such apps, but I don't know what's a good option for iOS.
Requirements:
- Can track **time** & **distance** covered (using GPS)
- Should be very simple to use: 1) start the tracker 2) go for the walk/run/ride 3) stop the tracker and see the distance & time
- Available on App Store (i.e. works on non-jailbroken devices)
**Preferably free**, but feel free to recommend an excellent paid app too if you know of one.
Also, it's a plus if I can use the app for my simple needs **without signing up** to any service.

I'm trying to make an alarm clock for myself with AppleScript after my old (physical) one crapped out. I've got a script that'll schedule a *pmset* wakeup at the requisite time. There's just the matter of making the script actually make noise at that moment.
To that regard, does the actionscript **delay** command count time the computer was asleep? It'd be nice to say
delay (# of seconds between now and when I have to wake up the next morning)
, but if **delay** doesn't count down when the computer's off (or, rather, retroactively decrement the countdown upon wake), then I'll need some other way of doing things.
Does anyone know about this behavior, and any workarounds if the answer is 'it doesn't count time asleep'?

I would like something (say, an app or menu-bar utility) that will pop-up every hour and ask me what I have been doing, allowing me to enter a few lines of text.
The fact that it would automatically pop up, and that it only expects me to fill in one text field would mean that it is a very low-friction way of entering information.
It would, of course, then have some way to let me view what has been logged post-facto.
Can you recommend anything that will let me do this?
