iPhone photos widget is grey
That's pretty much it: my photos widget is just a grey tile, no matter which size I get. I've already rebooted the device and it still doesn't work. How to fix this? It's an iPhone 12 device with iOS 16.1.1 on it.

Everything else on my watch is dark but for this widget, which is way too bright at night.

Through the desktop widget for Screen Time on my M3 Max MacBook Pro with macOS 15.1.1, I noticed how usage for today was around 35 hours (!), 12.5 of which were occupied by the com.apple.controlcenter process.
Browsing Activity Monitor didn't return any relevant result for that specific process, even though looking directly for "Control Center" returned the expected result.
Here is a screenshot of System Settings > Screen Time > App & Website Activity, filtered down for only my Mac in devices.
As you can see, it shows Control Centre as being an in-use app for close to 14h, something that I have honestly never seen before. Safari is running, but I have certainly not kept it in focus for 12h! YouTube was running on the iPad as a background music for my workday for 6h (checking the iPad page of Screen Time), but it was never once opened on Mac.
The Tips app was running, but in focus for perhaps 10 minutes while I was writing a blog post? Then what is 5h of Dailymotion? I have no app that is called like that, no process running that answers to it, nor any Safari tab that has it.
Any idea what may be going on and what I could do to solve it? Just a bug in Screen Time, perhaps?

On my old 10.10.5 Yosemite Mac, I had a nice display of Exchange figures like
this in the Notification Center like this :
On my 13.0 Ventura Mac the display is different :
I find the old display much better than the new one (in the old display you see all the main figures immediately, while in the new display you see no figures at all and the list is much shorter)
Can the new widget be configured to get the old display back ?

I'd like to make a shortcut to quickly hide/show widgets on the desktop e.g. for when I'm sharing my screen.
I was able to figure out that the checkboxes in Settings are linked to the "defaults" keys
com.apple.WindowManager StandardHideWidgets
and com.apple.WindowManager StageManagerHideWidgets
. Toggling the checkboxes sees the changes reflected in defaults read
, as expected. However, I don't seem to be able to do the reverse, i.e. change the setting by calling defaults write
, which is my goal. The value of the key changes, but the setting seems to be unaffected (yes, even if I restart the Dock, Finder, or WindowManager processes)

In the images below the first widget (weather) is of one type and can only be placed outside of the lighter (on dark mode darker) area. The other widget can only be placed in it.
After haptic touching the today pane, one can edit the two kinds of widgets in different ways: the first kind by clicking the + and the second kind by clicking
The lighter area is for one kind of widgets, it seems.

I am experiencing two issues with widgets on one of my Macs.
I have MacStudio and MacBook Pro(M1) running macOS Ventura. MacStudio has the issue.
Firstly, I can only access widget editing mode once after restarting the system. When I try to reaccess it after closing and reopening the widget panel, the edit button no longer works, and the widgets appear to freeze for edit.
Secondly, I cannot add new widgets or edit preexisting widgets when I am in editing mode. Clicking the green plus button or double-clicking on preexisting widgets does not work, nor does the "Edit Complete" button.
Is there a solution to this issue? Or is there a way to restart the widgets to resolve the problem?
Additional Note:
Mac Studio is connected to three displays. I suspected the (unusual) display configuration caused the symptom, so I unplugged two of them and kept only StudioDisplay, but it still had the same symptom.

However, the question [everyone's asking](https://twitter.com/search?q=widgetsmith%20remove&f=live) is how to remove the widget name text from under the widget (as that "kills the vibe").
> ok but how do u remove the name widgetsmith from under its killing the vibe
Can iOS 14 widgets be added to the iOS home screen *without* the app name / widget name underneath the widget? How can we hide the "Widgetsmith" label?

I have tried many different things to try and solve this issue:
* restarted my iPhone
* uninstalled and reinstalled the the app.
* Removed and added the widget
* Cleared my cache
* tried using cellular data
Nothing seems to work. Quick view in the app and the app work as intended. My banking widget works as well.
The widget says that I’m not connected to the Internet.
I have and iPhone 11 pro running iOS 16.4.1.
Update: I did some network research and when I go to the app, the DNS reply is different than the widget for the same domain. I’m not sure why because they both use the same connection, perhaps something faulty in the code?
If I do a manual nslookup on the domain, mapi.discoverbank.com, I get the IP that doesn’t connect. The app had no trouble finding the correct ip address.
How can I resolve this issue

When I upgraded my iPhone 8 to iOS 16.2 -- from 16 or 16.1, I don't recall -- the Notes widget now looks like this:
If you tap on it, it will correctly open the Notes app and all the notes are there, as usual. I have tried the following to fix the widget, that previously showed recently edited notes:
1. Removed and readded from the home screen.
2. Edited, to change the notes folder from which it searches.
3. Upgraded to iOS 16.3.
Nothing has worked, so far. Any ideas?

Here you can see two widgets World Clock (with four small faces) and the normal Clock (in macOS Ventura 13.1):
The orange hand for seconds is appearing and smoothly moving in all the clock faces.
I don't mind having it in the regular Clock, but I think it's redundant to also have it in the World Clock.
**Is there any way to remove or hide the seconds hand from the World Clock widget?**
I am considering installing one of the third party widgets from Mac App Store, such as "Hour - World Clock" or "World Clock Widgets". But I wanted to check if it's possible on the standard widget provided by Apple.

I have removed all the default widgets from Today View, so it currently shows only "(Edit)" on a blurred background. But I often invoke it by mistake. Can I disable this left drawer (Today View) completely from the Home/Lock Screen? That is, I want nothing to happen, when I swipe from the left edge to the right on the Home/Lock Screen.
* Example of "Today View" from Apple's website.

The weather widget on Big Sur is a step down from the previous one, to put it lightly.
Is there any way to add multiple cities to a single widget, or to actually have the widget point to a working web page when clicking on it? On the old system I used to have one widget, and I could switch between the cities, showing both the daily and weekly weather forecast for the selected city. Now, I have to either have four huge widgets which take up way too much place, or use smaller widgets, at the cost of having no forecast. As if it weren't enough, when clicking on a widget, I am taken to a web page which simply says
"**Oops! We are having trouble finding your page.**"
Anyway, my question is - could anyone recommend a working widget substitute for weather, preferably one that shows weekly forecast and allows multiple cities. Is it even possible to install third party widgets?
