According to Carl Pei (OnePlus CEO) are there no plans to add support for Google's Daydream VR platform to there latest smartphone, the OnePlus 3T. So my question is, is the OnePlus 3T nevertheless capable of running the Daydream VR Environment (App & Controller) without hacks? *There is a hack for the OnePlus 3 , which involves rooting and side-loading, which i would really want to avoid.*

I am trying to get familiarize with the Daydream VR adb shell command, but I can't get to find for the right documentation. How can I obtain root privileges once I have done: > adb shell I used the following command to see if root or sudo was an actual command > ls /system/bin

Is there any shortcoming in the hardware offering of the One Plus 7 Pro that makes it ineligible to run Daydream ? I can't see anything that specifies what *exactly* makes a Daydream phone special . I see the [YouTube VR page in the Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.youtube.vr&hl=en_US&rdid=com.google.android.apps.youtube.vr) says that my hardware isn't compatible. But it doesn't tell me why it isn't compatible,

1. Does the Google Daydream View headset contain any electronic hardware/software components it it? If so, what are their roles? 2. Same question but for the Samsung Gear VR. 3. The Gear VR has a label on its side that reads "Powered by Oculus". What does that even mean? I think it's safe to say the Google Cardboard has no electronic components inside the headset, right? So that's off the list.

I have an S8, but not yet bought any VR accessory; and I know that Samsung recently added Daydream VR support to the phone. From what I've read, Daydream case is far simpler with most of the sensors in the phone; while Gear VR has sensors in the headset itself. So it appears to me that other than the controllers, Gear VR headset in hardware terms should cover everything the Daydream headset does. If I buy the 2017 Gear VR (for the controller), will I also be able to view Daydream VR titles, and how will the different controller affect the compatibility?

I have the $79 I need to buy a Daydream View, but not the $650 to buy a Pixel to go along with it. My current phone is a Galaxy S7. (Don't tell me to just get a Gear VR. That's not what I'm asking.) If I get a Daydream View for my Galaxy S7, or any other phone that doesn't come with built-in Daydream support, will I be able to just use it like a really fancy Cardboard?
