There are other times though that Google Maps says my phone was "Moving" but doesn't say where it started, where it finished, or offer an explanation. Furthermore, I don't recall going anywhere at those times. What is wrong? What does "Moving" mean to Google (does it mean moving a few feet, does it mean changing WiFi networks, does it mean connecting to a different cell tower)?

I'm not exactly sure when it happened. Originally my location history was accurate. About a month ago my location history map looked close to being correct but the mileage was ridiculous! For example, I drive about 30 miles one way to work. Most of the time lately the mileage shows me driving about 700 miles! It looks like it might be making multiple trips but I can't tell because I can't expand the history map. I have a Nexus 4 with a straight talk SIM using AT&T. Any ideas what could cause this strange behaviour -- or even better, how to fix it?

I've recently discovered Google Location History, however my history map is made up of lots of very long straight lines because it doesn't appear to get checkpoint/location information very often. Is there any way to increase how many times it gets the location in order to get a more accurate view of my movements in a day? I understand that this may reduce battery life. Thank you.

Google Location History shows location I have never been to...6,000 miles away
I was looking at my GPS location history on my phone, just for fun. When the map loaded, it displayed all of the places I'd been to, *and* a long red line connected to a few red dots in Algeria. I was looking at my GPS location history on my phone, just for fun. When the map loaded, it displayed all of the places I'd been to, *and* a long red line connected to a few red dots in Algeria. Mind you, I am in Texas. At first, I thought it was a glitch. Which I still hope it is. But when I zoomed in with satellite view, the locations were inside a series of neighboring houses. These are very specific locations, and further searches into the previous months (all the way back to December 2014) indicates that these same places have accessed my Google account. I'm speculating at this point, because I'm not at all familiar with hacking, security, etc. I've also changed my password. Has this ever happened to anyone? I know that this thing can be inaccurate, but can it be *this* inaccurate? Could Google have made a mistake? Did someone hack into my phone/Google account? Is there a way to confirm this, if the GPS isn't proof enough? And more importantly, if that is the case, what can I do now?

These things are putting a strain on my marriage and I want answers to why this is happening to me. I rarely go anywhere due to me meaning a stay at home mom. I want answers and I want to be able to show my husband that I'm not lying to him about any of this. I'm also getting to were I don't want to do anything on my phone far as searches, texting or making calls.

My Android phone is enabled for home WiFi as well as cell tower connection. My location services have been enabled as well to use Google Maps for tracking Location history. Whenever I go to my balcony of my apartment I find lot of secured WiFi connections available in addition to my connected home WIFI. Others are secured and not connected. The are lots of blue dots for various locations in location history closer to my home where I have not even visited but shows up in the location history. Is it possible that wrong locations appear in my location history?

Can you limit Google Maps timeline for alternate accounts on your android phone?
I have multiple accounts on my Android phone, some shared with my kids. I would like my location sharing to only be my primary account. Is there any way to configure that? One side effect, my son has his location shared with me. But most often, when I look for his location, it shows where I am.

I don't have a PIN code or any other security measure to unlock the phone, anyone can unlock it with a swipe. How can I easily figure out if someone (possibly with physical access) has installed a location tracker or some similar unwanted app to my phone? Let's suppose the attacker is not working for Google, Facebook or Samsung, but may also have access to my Google or Facebook account (e.g. by stealing or guessing my password -- I don't have two-factor authentication enabled). Please note that in this question I'm not looking for advice for protecting my phones and my accounts, I only want to learn about the presence of location trackers and other similar unwanted apps on my phone.

But on the following date it says I was at my house from 1200am-135pm which was obviously the start on the next day and which means I was at both locations at the same time. Any light shredded on this would be great. Is there anyway to prove I didn't leave my house

Google maps history worked perfectly with my old phone. Now I have a new one and maps history worked for the first few days, then it started to behave randomly: when it works the data is correct, but most of the time it does not track anything. If I open maps and use the gps it finds my position immediately, but even doing so the tracking is not triggered. I already tried to deactivate and reactivate it and google play services, as well as clear the cache both for maps and play services. I checked battery optimization and set maps and google play services to manual mode, setting them in the most active status possible. It seems that if I restart the phone for a few hours the tracking is correct, then it stops. I already contacted the phone manufacturer (Huawei) and made all the suggested steps (clear cache) I did not perform the factory reset that they suggested as last resort because the phone has less than 2 weeks. I think that some battery optimization on the phone (p20 PRO) kills some process needed for maps history, that's why restarting the phone fixes the problem for a few hours. Can you suggest me some further troubleshoot step?  I also considered to use tasker to force the execution of some process in order to keep alive the needed services but I would need some advice about what to call to keep alive the history.

Fequency at which location history gets my location?
I've noticed that Google Location History tracks my position much more frequently and accurately when having Google Maps actively running, compared to when it is not. Is this the case for any app – whenever the GPS is on – or just when Google apps tracks my position?

Location History was active on my device and visible under timeline in the Google Maps app. I have just tried to use it via Google maps on browser to get my phone back, but the timeline stops in August. The Android Device Manager last located my phone just before 6am yesterday morning, so it was definitely communicating with my account. Has anyone successfully made their Timeline visible on GMaps retroactively if Location History was on and able to communicate with the Google servers?
