I’ve got an android mobile phone. It’s a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, with MIUI Global 12.0.1 (Android 11). I installed 3 applications for global position background tracing: - OruxMap - Komoot - View Ranger Only for OruxMap, in AppInfo, under the option “App permissions” > “Geolocalization”, I’ve got 4 options: - Allow always - Allow while the app is in use - Ask every time - Deny But **for the other apps I can’t find “Allow always”** and I’ve got only the other 3 options. I compared my situation with two friends with the same 3 apps on their smartphones. One friend never sees “Allow always” option. The other sees “Allow always” option for different applications. In order to grant background geolocalization for tracking purposes to the application of my choice, how can I visualize the “Allow always” option in the App Info for a specific application?

But once I start driving, it constantly looses connection with the GPS or it is really slow updating my location. However, once I gave the "Carrier Service" access to the precise location to my device, it fixed the issue. Do you folks know why? I'm assuming that it has something to do with A-GPS.

I've recently noticed that the Google Fit app has been *extremely* off when recording OR importing activity, but especially importing. I tracked several walks recently where my watch (Fossil Q Explorist) would report almost exactly with another app on my phone (Strava) in terms of distance, time, and steps (see screenshots). However, when this activity is imported into Google Fit (in this case, presumably from the watch, but it's occurred just with Strava imports as well), the distance and step counts are *much* lower, roughly 60% or less in some cases. Does anyone know what the cause is or how to fix this? I wouldn't be so miffed, but 1. This is a widely used application run by a company with plenty of resources 2. I can't find bunches of other people with this problem 3. Google Fit is my only tracking option to earn $$ from my health insurance, so taking 15k steps to earn 10k is pretty annoying 4. Google Fit has even retconned itself and changed activities again afterward (screenshot included) 5. I feel like I've tried everything, including: - uninstall/reinstall the app - sign out/back in - wipe data - enable all permissions for Google Fit - track with other apps to ensure accuracy - import from another Google Fit device (watch) Pixel 6 Pro, Android 13, Fossil Q Explorist (most recent update) Strava|Google Fit 1|Google Fit 2| |-|-|-| |**Strava**|**Google Fit (almost immediately after finishing activity)**|**Google Fit, viewing the same activity the next day**| |Fossil Q Explorist 1|Fossil Q Explorist 2|Fossil Q Explorist 3| |-|-|-| |**Fossil Q Explorist 1**|**Fossil Q Explorist 2**|**Fossil Q Explorist 3**|

Those who choose a simpler cyclometer consisting of only a speedometer and distance display, but that does not include a GPS tracker can use their Android smartphone quite nicely with one of many tracker apps. At the limit a smartphone + suitable mount can act as a cyclometer. If you leave one such app, Strava, running on iOS/iPhone, "out-of-the-box" and without any special adjustments iOS will not kill the app, despite that it uses an unusual amount of power for the GPS sensor. But some Android phones, in particular Samsung Galaxy phones, reportedly kill Strava after a few minutes, which precludes tracking rides. How can the power saving feature on Android phones—specifically on Samsung Galaxy phones—be set not to kill tracking apps?

Interpreting GPS location data JSON
I got this data from my phone, most of it I generally understand, but some of the GPS positional values have me confused: ``` "locations" : [ { "timestampMs" : "1531422503855", "latitudeE7" : 399187535, "longitudeE7" : -751663977, "accuracy" : 16, "altitude" : -28, "verticalAccuracy" : 2 }, { "times...
I got this data from my phone, most of it I generally understand, but some of the GPS positional values have me confused:
"locations" : [ {
    "timestampMs" : "1531422503855",
    "latitudeE7" : 399187535,
    "longitudeE7" : -751663977,
    "accuracy" : 16,
    "altitude" : -28,
    "verticalAccuracy" : 2
}, {
    "timestampMs" : "1531422474313",
    "latitudeE7" : 399187554,
    "longitudeE7" : -751664138,
    "accuracy" : 16,
    "altitude" : -28,
    "verticalAccuracy" : 2
},
Now I understand how to decipher most of this, the timestamp is in the epoch format, and the coordinates are a factor of 10^7. But basically, it's these the last three that have me confused. As I understand it, accuracy is defined as the radius of 68% confidence. So I'm assuming the value returned, 16 in this case, is that the GPS is 68% confident that it's accurate within 16 meters(?). But with the altitude and vertical accuracy values, I have NO idea. I know that Altitude accuracy for GPS is very inaccurate for many reasons, but I'm assuming this -28 is negative 28 meters below the sea level...? But to be honest, I'm not sure, along side vertical accuracy. If someone could give me the correct interpretation that would be much appreciated. Second but small question, the phone recorded two GPS points within 30 seconds of each other, where the GPS basically re-centers and gets a more accurate location, is it safe to assume that this second location is the "correct" location with how frequently the device polls the data?

How can I prevent someone from tracking my device? Is there a way I can route the tracker to a specific location when I want so that I could just tell them I am at that location even when I'm not? I am willing to root my device and install any kernel or ROM; whatever it takes.

It's an unfortunate fact that the pricey pocket computers we carry around with us at all times are prime targets for thieves—as well as very easy to leave behind in subway cars or on coffee shop tables. Now that we all rely on our smartphones for so much, having one stolen or misplaced can feel like the end of the world. We are not bothered about the life-saving apps until we lost our Smart Phone or PC. Once something happens badly, we will run behind the apps to track the device. But, by taking the correct Preemptive Measures/precautions beforehand, we can reduce the likelihood of crooks accessing our data, and make it easier to find our phone’s location. We can even make the phone itself pretty much useless to the thieves or anyone they sell it to. And my question is **what are the Preemptive Measures You Should Do Before—And After—You Lose Your Phone?** - **Safeguarding android device**

On my Android 11 phone I notice a certain decline of the GPS reception when used with the app "Caynax Sport Tracker". After a reboot of the device (realme 8 pro) the GPS tracking works just fine. But after a week or so there are random drops in the GPS reception (5-30 seconds). The application then tells me that there is no GPS reception. After a reboot of the Android device the GPS reception works fine again. For about a week. What could be the cause of this issue, and why can it only be solved by restarting the Android device? Can it be: - a bad quality android (creating random errors after a week of operation...?) - a bad quality GPS software (maybe an internal counter creating random errors ..?) - a bad quality GPS device (maybe some charge building up which only can be discharged by rebooting the device?) - a bad quality application (...?) What is the likely cause of this annoyance, and why can it be solved only by a reboot?

Is there a log in the phone for the past n days of location and speed (and perhaps direction)? (I was not running any particular GPS tracking/logging app, probably had phone, messaging, Pokemon Go, and Facebook in the "background".) The information might help avoid my insurance rates going sky high :) thanks!

How can I force my phone (Motorola One / Android 10) to stay up and not turn off the screen (as it does after 2 minutes), if I have a map-like app in the foreground: * Strava, * Google Maps -- just watching map and my location. So far I only figured out that when Google Maps are in actual navigation mode then screen never sleeps. But, when I just want to watch my location (in GM or Strava) then it turns itself off as usual. Is there anything I can do (like some way to register app as "never sleeping" in system configuration?). Or is this per application and only developer can add needed feature?

I know there's a share location feature in Google Maps and various android apps for sharing locations. But is there a widget / shortcut or something where you can click on it and instantly share your location with a pre-defined contact whether by SMS, email, etc. ? I have a relative that I need to pick up quite frequently but sometimes they're in one street and sometimes they're walking in another. They're a little older and aren't too tech savvy except for the basics (viewing photos, chatting, etc.). Basically I want to set up a widget / shortcut on their homescreen and if I can't find them, I can call them and tell them to click on the button to share me your location so I can find them. Google Messenger has a share location by SMS feature too but that's too many clicks, want to simplify as much as possible. Other apps like Life 360 or Family Locator are on 24/7 and kill the battery. Don't need 24/7 location sharing.

Both phones should also support the Beidou system, so I'm wondering if there is anything preventing these phones from seeing/using Beidou/BDS

I'm currently searching for an Android app that can block **ALL** the **trackers** as well as **hidden trackers** on Android including **Ads**. I, being a privacy enthusiast, have done a lot of online search, and currently using an open source app called **[Warden](https://www.xda-developers.com/warden-open-source-app-aurora-store-disable-trackers-loggers/)** . It's good but, user needs to spend ton of time tweaking apps for better protection against trackers. *(If you're from India and you use **Jio sim**, then you'll have **MyJio** installed, their tracking is literally **insane**!)*. I'd like know, is there any other Android App that can **learn** to **tweak and disable** trackers(privacy badger extension for browsers, for example) on it's own as the time passes, just like how Google Keyboard learns to personalize the dictionary. Editings and Suggestions are always welcome:)

Phone lost having sensitive data that cannot be deleted, **The owner**(my cousin) **has gotten mentally unstable.** Tried every possible solution to track it like **google's find my device**. I also tried to track it by the service-provider/carrier number but couldn't achieve any result so the SIM card has been blocked/disabled. Lastly I reported to the proper authorities to track down the device but strictly advised not to erase the data. **They asked for IMEI-number of device** which i provided to them on spot. No response whatsoever has been recieved that could even provide a grain of hope for recovery. My cousin is considering sucide but only me being a trustworthy person for him have been controlling him by giving him lies and false hope. The device has not been connected to the internet or even turned on since lost so that it could be tracked down (info by google's find my phone app). The authorities told that **it can only be controlled or tracked by its IMEI-number**. **IS IT POSSIBLE** My email-id is/was also activated on that device. Proper documents and all original accessories along with box and IMEI sticker can be shown for proving ownership of the device Device: LG-Q60
