I want to unlock the bootloader of my Moto X4 running Android 9 and get the unlock code. My computer is a Linux Mint Ideapad 3 (so should have USB-3 ports (referring to this post )).
My device gets displayed when I type
fastboot devices
However, none of the 3 USB ports give me a response when I type fastboot oem get_unlock_data
nor does the command finish. The bootloader logs say on the phone cmd: oem get_unlock_data
.
"**Allow bootloader get unlocked**" is enabled in developer options, and so is USB debugging. I need the unlock data to request on the Motorola page the unlock key.

A/B (Seamless) update device questions

The internal storage of each Android device is separated into partitions such as system and boot. Most devices have only a single copy of each partition, but devices that support seamless updates have two copies of certain partitions—slot A and slot B, hence A/B—so that one copy of the partition lies dormant while the other is in active use. Because each partition is a copy, they can be used interchangeably to boot into Android. This also means that you can update one partition in the background and then swap to it when you reboot—thus your update is seamless!
I need to know more about this for a stock unrooted device:
1. After OTA system update, does the device install OS to both partitions? Or install to only one partition.
2. whether the device continues to same(current) android version until reboot manually?(after installing version update). Or whether it updates current to latest version overnight.
3. When normal reboot(not after update), how can a user identify whether device is booted to which slot (A/B)? Else, will the device continues to current slot on normal reboot(for example if it is A).
4. If any one slot got corrupted, Is it possible to use other slot only.

I am using stock moto launcher on my device. And, the night drain is about 6%. So, I decided to use Nova launcher. Installed Nova launcher, and after that night drain is reduced to 3%. I need to know more about launchers.
1. Launcher's ram usage: Do both launcher's run same protocol/processes (eg: notification dots like processes).
2. Device running in Nova launcher, and started some apps. Then, I switched launcher to stock(uninstalled nova). Those, apps still remained in RAM. Why the apps not get reset while switching/ not removed from RAM.
3. Some widget features got reduced. For example, google widget. It always contain text "Say Ok Google" in stock launcher. But, it is not available in Nova or pixel launcher. Why?

From Dec 2017, I am using my new Android device attached with my old Google id. The contacts got automatically synced. And, works without any issues. But, today I have noticed that, one of the contact's background(default color added automatically) color got changed automatically. I haven't edited contact.(Sometimes editing contact changes color).
For Example: Contact A: contact's background is black previously, now changed to Pink. Contact B: contact's background is green previously, now changed to Dark red.(N.B: Contact A and B have the most number of call logs in my phone)
Why's this happening like this? What's the logic behind it? If it is regular/normal, does this happen in any interval? I haven't noticed this on previous device.

Current leaks while charging. Is the device defective?
During charging(first charge), there is a vibration sense(on my fingers) with my moto x4's metallic sides. Is this shows that the device is defective? What may be the reason?

Can the software of a (non rooted) phone affect its charging when turned off?

I bought a brand new Motorola phone. It was at around 70% of battery charge when I got it, but I've never been able to charge it.
I plug the charger to the wall, the USB-C (factory provided) to the phone, and it just does nothing.
Customer service chat wouldn't consider hardware issues before making me follow several default troubleshooting steps that clearly didn't apply to my case ("try force-rebooting", as if the phone was unresponsive – it isn't –, or "try factory reset: please charge the phone before doing it" – are you kidding!?)
I would do the factory reset (I still have about 28% charge left, which should be enough), even if I find it pointless, but **can the software be an issue at all**? The phone won't charge even if it's powered off!
