Complex Appear In Keynote Presentation
In my presentation, I have a slide with six lines. I'm trying to set it up so lines 1 and 6 will appear, then 2 and 5, and finally 3 and 4. I know I could throw a box over them and have the boxes disappear but there must be a better way to do this. :-)

How can I disable the hideously irritating 'rolling cube' animation when switching users?
When I switch from one user account to another, at first it appears to switch instantly to the selected user, but then after entering the password that annoying rolling animation kicks in.
I would be so happy if I could disable this, as it is not smooth, and it's both unnecessary and irritating.
- I tried
defaults write -g userMenuExtraStyle 0
in Terminal, but this did not work, even after reboot. I found this on https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/14001/how-to-turn-off-all-animations-on-os-x) . I am using macOS Mojave.
- I already have Reduce motion ticked in Accessibility Preferences which reduced desktop switch motion, but not user switch animation (https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/17929/how-can-i-disable-animation-when-switching-desktops-in-lion) .
Is there a way I can disable this animation?

When switching to a full-screen app on a different space there is a noticeable delay (and jerkiness) with the animation during which further presses of ⌘+Tab have no effect. This continues for a fraction of a second even *after* the animation has finished.
It's very annoying and disruptive if keypresses are simply ignored by the OS, and it's beyond me how such an obvious massive flaw goes past quality control at Apple (and how most macOS users seemingly just live with it).
Is there a way to **completely remove** the fade (or slide) animation when you switch (⌘+Tab) to a full-screen app that is on a different space?

## I *reduced* animation and transition in macOS but not *completely disabled*
As some people already discussed, one can "reduce motion" in accessibility settings, use
defaults write
to "disable" some animations, or use software like TinkerTool. But after all of that, when I *switch desktops* using Ctrl + Left or Ctrl + Right, macOS still displays a "fade in, fade out" animation for a few deciseconds, which is fine. But
## the window focus remains messed up for a while.
Either the window on the previous desktop is still focused, or no windows are focused, for *about 1 second*, and I cannot perform any operation, which is super annoying and slows down my workflow.
### A workaround
is to use Cmd + Tab to switch apps, or use Ctrl + 1-9 to jump to a specific desktop. In this way, the window focus is corrected. But this is a *workaround*, not a *solution*.
### Modification I did
- Every setting in [TinkerTool.app](https://www.bresink.com/osx/0TinkerTool/download.php) that disables animation
- "Reduce motion" in macOS accessibility settings
- Some scripts, the one related to this is
defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration -float 0.1
### previous discussion about this

"Reduce motion" is not working when option "Displays have separate Spaces" is unchecked
has anyone answer to this please ? The thing is, when I check "Displays have separate spaces" in Mission control settings, Reduce motion kicks in and it works....but when I want to have "one big space" across all monitors and I uncheck the option - the animation is working again, but it shouldn't.

Finder shortcuts all use Shift but Shift activates SLOW-motion opening animation (macOS monterey 12.7.6): How to defeat?

This is about Finder shortcuts, esp. Command-Shift-A (to open /Applications); not about the Dock, not about Mission Control.
When there is already a Finder window for /Applications, and it is minimized, the shortcut will open it instead of creating a 2nd window; but it defeats the intent of a "Shortcut" (to be "faster") if it does a 4-second animation.
Because the shortcut incorporates Shift, the Shift triggers slow-motion animation (arghh!). They are slow by design! I can't find a way to disable Finder animation; nor to edit those built-in shortcut keys.
In accessibility I have Reduce-Motion selected (from always). No help if I DISABLE Reduce-Motion either.
These settings don't help either (suspect 1st only applies to some newer OS-version):
% defaults read com.apple.finder FXEnableSlowAnimation
0
% defaults read com.apple.finder DisableAllAnimations
1
% defaults read -g NSAutomaticWindowAnimationsEnabled
0
My computer is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) running macOS Monterey 12.7.6.
Work-Around: Did find CAN change the keys!: prefs, Keyboard, Shortcuts, App-Shortcuts: Add Finder.app, add entries for menu=Applications etc.
But some I tried like Command-F1 STILL became Shift-Command-F1 in Finder. But Control-F1 or Option-Command-A works: did not auto add back Shift.
Is it possible to have my Finder shortcuts be fast without engaging the slow dock effect?

Btw: I am aware that one can use the key-combo ⌥⌘D to toggle auto hide/show for the dock. But I want solution without using the keyboard.

How can I generate an APNG from a series of still PNGs (not from a video file) on OS X? (Although I understand the file structure, I’m hesitant to do it manually.)

I enjoy the GIFs, but in order to keep my fan quiet, I often delete them, which reduces the CPU usage. **I have a hunch that if I could pause the animation, it wouldn't use as much processor power. Is there any way I can do this?**
*I'm currently on OS X Yosemite (10.10.3) and using Messages 8.0 (4752)*

The bounty I'm offering isn't for the same reason as the OP, i.e. CPU, but merely the irritation factor of watching them go round & round & round ... & round...

As a workaround, is it possible to animate just the connector? I want one end to stay fixed in a point, the other end should be moved to a different point.

I asked a couple people I sent messages to and they said they didn't see the effects so my guess is if it appears on my phone, it appears on theirs too. If it doesn't on mine, it doesn't on theirs either.
What do I need to do to make it appear all the time? Is there a setting on the receiving phone that needs to be set for animated effects to appear on my phone? Do they need to be on the same IOS version as me for the animated effects to work too?

I think the default setting is much too slow, and I don't want to overdo the gesture each time just to get better efficiency out of the animation.
This 2012 article refers to settings like these:
defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration -float 0; killall Dock
for fast animations, and to reset:
defaults delete com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration; killall Dock
I have tried them in Sierra and they don't work.

I'm aware of the command
https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/33600/how-can-i-make-auto-hide-show-for-the-dock-faster
however, I want to be able to use only the command "opt+cmd+d" to hide or show the dock. The reason for this is that I do a lot of editing on programs such as ableton, pro tools, and now will most likely move to davinci resolve, and it's really frustrating to me whenever my mouse needs to use the edge of the screen and the dock shows up. Would greatly appreciate it if someone knows how to actually hide the animation instead of making the dock appear in 0 seconds.
Thank you.

What's the benefit of using shift (for slow animation) when minimizing windows?
I came across this today by accident: If you try to minimise a window in OS X 10.8 (might be in others) while holding down the shift key the window will *very* slowly go into the Dock. The whole animation is slowed. Any ideas what the purpose of this is?

i tried adding

to a exec file and running chrome from there. Chrome opens but the new window "maximize" animation is still there. Anyway to fix this?

System Preferences > Display > Accessibility > Reduce Motion just replaces the animation with a crossfade that is equally slow.

I wish to turn off animations on my MacBook Pro running macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 (17D102), but they don't appear to be working. I see no error message or any other message when I run the commands in the terminal. I tried logging out and logging back in but to no effect. How do I troubleshoot this or otherwise find a way to turn off as many animations as possible?
Note: I tried these 4 commands provided in the [accepted answer]( https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/63477/215068) to https://apple.stackexchange.com/q/14001/215068 :

# smooth scrolling
defaults write -g NSScrollAnimationEnabled -bool false
# showing and hiding sheets, resizing preference windows, zooming windows
# float 0 doesn't work
defaults write -g NSWindowResizeTime -float 0.001
# opening and closing Quick Look windows
