I'm using a MacBook M3 Pro, with Sequoia 15.5.
I have the Dock set to automatically appear when the cursor hits the bottom of the screen.
I am using the touchpad, not a mouse.
In fullscreen mode (e.g. iTerm2), it fails to do so. I have to initiate additional downward gestures, sometimes more than once, to coax the Dock into appearing. It turns out that the gestures that don't work all have something in common: they lack the trailing stop (finger remaining on the pad).
Steps to repro:
1. Put iTerm2 into fullscreen mode. (Reproduces with other apps like Chrome.)
2. Quickly perform a downward gesture on the touchpad so that the cursor warps to the bottom pixel of the screen, lifting your finger off the touchpad at the end of the gesture.
3. Nothing happens.
4. Initiate somewhere between 1 and 4 more downward swipes; Dock now appears.
I found these steps *not* to repro:
1. Put iTerm2 into fullscreen mode.
2. Perform a downward gesture, getting the cursor to the bottom pixel, **without lifting your finger**.
3. Dock appears after an annoying delay (about 300 ms) but reliably.
How can we have the same behavior as in non-fullscreen mode, whereby the finger is not required to stay on the touchpad? Note that the hotkey ⌘⌥D is not available in fullscreen mode.
Also, is there a way to kill the delay before the Dock appears? (I know about tuning the animation speed with the
autohide-time-modifier
parameter, which is not related to the initial delay).
This question is similar to the nine-year-old, unanswered question https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/252999/disable-autohide-dock-displaying-slowly-when-in-fullscreen
However, my problem is with the finger having to remain on the touchpad.
The mouse behavior is different. If you make a quick movement to the bottom of the screen, and then quickly stop moving the mouse, nothing happens; you have to make an additional movement to get the Dock to appear. If you continue moving the mouse for some fractions of a second after the cursor hits the edge, then the Dock appears. There is no requirement to keep the finger on the mouse.
With the touchpad, even the additional additional downward gestures do not make the Dock appear if the finger does not dwell on the touch pad.
If the touchpad behavior were like the mouse behavior (no requirement for lingering finger contact) it would be a big improvement. How do we disable that?
I don't use the mouse; it's collecting dust in a drawer. It cannot be used while it is charging, and it required weekly charging, so I just switched to the touchpad. One less accessory to lug when using the laptop on the go, too.

I frequently to rearrange the full-screen windows, moving them from one display to another by switching to mission control mode and then dragging and dropping the windows.
**Is there a way to do this using a keyboard shortcut or an Apple script?**
To clarify: I would like the app windows to remain in full screen mode at all times. Tools like Better Touch Tool, recommended in another post , only work with apps that are not in full screen.

I have a multimonitor setup.
By default the
Displays have separate Spaces
settign is checked in MacOS, and it causes the dock to hop between monitors if you hover your mouse at the bottom of any of your monitors even unintentionally, which is extremely annoying and frustrating because it causes apps to contract to make space for the dock, and when the dock hops away to another monitor again the apps on the previous monitor to not expand back - so the amount of usable space in the apps is constantly reduced by this constant dock hopping (which is annoying in and of itself).
This solution to disable dock hopping:
> Go to System Preferences > Mission Control, then deselect the option
> "Displays have separate Spaces"
...is not acceptable because then I cannot have full-screen video on one monitor and a note-taking application on my other monitor - switching a video to full-screen causes other monitors to go dark when Displays have separate Spaces
is unchecked.
How do I disable dock hopping between my monitors without making all of my screens go dark when I switch one of the windows to the full-screen mode?
If there is no native way to do it, kindly share a 3rd party utility that would allow me to do that.

I keep a lot of apps running at the same time. I keep some apps in fullscreen next to the first desktop for general usage, and some other fullscreen apps next to a second desktop for "work" stuff.
The problem is that when I put an app in fullscreen it is placed next to the last space. I know that enabling **"Preferences > Mission Control > Automatically rearrange spaces based on most recent use"** would make apps to be placed next to the desktop I'm in, but I chose to disable it because I don't want spaces to move.
I noticed that there's a (bad) workaround:
- keep the green fullscreen button of an app clicked until it is presented the choice for placing it in the left or the right side of the screen;
- release the mouse in order to assign the app to a side;
- click anywhere on the side of the app; the app should now be fullscreen and should be placed in the next space (not at the end).
**Is there a way to keep that option disabled while at the same time be able to open apps in fullscreen directly next to the desktop I'm currently in?**

For reference, the current default behavior is to open the built application window (regardless of the said IDE) in the main desktop space, therefore switching you out of your IDE full screen space.

Now that El Capitan supports split screen in full screen mode, is there a way to split screen natively with two apps in horizontal split, in full screen mode.
I searched everywhere and I am able to place two apps side by side but not top and bottom. I have also tried reducing window sizes of apps so that they fit well when in horizontal split mode. But still I never get the option of putting one on top of another.
Is there any other settings I need to enable? I have enabled

I am unable to find any meaningful answer anywhere else on the internet.
You can maximize Safari to full screen. You can maximize Pages to full screen. You can maximize most of the general use native macOS apps to full screen. But you cannot maximize Activity Monitor to full screen.
Why?
I have a dual monitor setup and many times I'm running a program on one screen and want to monitor its use through Activity Monitor on the other screen. On clicking the green button, Activity Monitor does not go 'Enter Full Screen', but just 'Zoom's to use the whole screen.

I've got a lag issue with one of my two extended monitors, but only when using a VM in full screen mode. Everything is fine running macOS 15.2 (Sequoia).
I use Omnissa Horizon Client for Mac on my MacBook Pro M3 Pro to access a Windows 11 VM. I'm using two Philips 27E2F7901 as extended monitors connected through a CalDigit TS4.
I think the issues started a few months ago with version 2406, but I'm not sure. I upgraded to Version 2412 Build 8.14.0 (12437218286) today but I still have the issue.
When the VM client is in full screen mode:
- there's a lag of at least a second (sometimes much more) when typing text, deleting text, selecting files or menu items, and dragging windows
- video playback is jerky (just the video, not the sound).
- the pointer often disappears, but a strong shake of the mouse brings it back on another screen.
These issues only happen on one of the three displays (upper right on my setup).
If I drag Windows 11 application window to one of the other two displays the problem goes away for that window. If I drag it back to the upper right monitor the issue comes back in full screen mode.
After switching the two Philips input cables at the TS4, the issues remain only on the upper right extended monitor.
I'll note that I don't have problems with the Horizon application as a regular window, including when it's on the monitor the full-screen mode hangs up on. I also widened the window to span both extended monitors and all was fine.

Is it possible to cause Applescript dialog/alert boxes to appear over Fullscreen apps?
I have a simple Applescript that requires some input to function (so triggers a dialog via
display dialog
) and also produces an alert when it's done.
However, when running with Fullscreen apps this means switching to a desktop space to see the dialog, and the same is true of the alert (which can be easily missed if I switch back to another app first). But it is literally just a dialog and an alert, so I'd prefer for it to just appear over everything else if possible.
I know that I "proper" app written in Swift etc. can do this, but that seems like overkill for what I'm doing, and I'm curious if there is any way to get this behaviour (or something similar, if there are other ways to ask for text input and show a message) for an Applescript?

I am using Mac OS X 10.9.5. Having Full Screen at the right end of the each window. How can i disable it?
I have tried th below workarounds to fix this but nothing worked out. I listed one of the workaround below.
Terminal
**Type :**
$ defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAutomaticWindowAnimationsEnabled -bool NO
**Hit enter**
Close all applications before you do this to make sure the setting propagates. Any app running when you make this change will need to be restarted for the changes to take effect.
This is also i got from this forum. What can I do to disable full screen windows?
