In recent versions of macOS, Mission Control's all windows view shows a shelf for your Spaces. When first activated, this shelf is collapsed at a small height at the top of the screen that displays each Space's title. If you move your mouse up and hover over that shelf, the shelf expands in height and a full thumbnail of each Space is shown.

The problem is that I use a "Top Right" hot corner to activate Mission Control, and have since that feature was released as Exposé in OS X 10.3 in 2003. Because that hot corner is located *above* that collapsed shelf, the Spaces shelf is fully expanded every time I use the hot corner. The collapsed view is never shown.
> Mission Control activated via a Top Left or Top Right hot corner; Spaces shelf always expanded:

I would like to keep using the same hot corner due to muscle memory. But I don't use Spaces, so I would like to remove that space-wasting and [Exposé-spatial-layout](https://superuser.com/questions/118424/old-leopard-expose-on-snow-leopard-for-mac)-wrecking expanded Spaces shelf.
1. Can the Spaces shelf be disabled and hidden entirely from the Mission Control all windows view, for all activation methods? This would be like using old Exposé, before it was expanded to Mission Control.
2. Using a Top Left or Top Right activation hot corner for Mission Control, is there any way for the Spaces shelf to not be *immediately* displayed upon every activation? I wouldn't mind still seeing the collapsed view, but I want to expand the shelf intentionally by click or moving out and re-hovering.

No clue why this is happening ([screen recording link](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Cm82c9ApbNU1qF6bjCzITMpnQ00xlvmN/view?usp=sharing)) :
For whatever reason, the desktop wallpaper only shows up when I use the Hot Corner (cmd + bottom right), but not in the background of Mission Control or App Exposé or even when I resize the Chrome Window. Desktop 2, however, shows the wallpaper anytime it should.
I moved all the windows onto Desktop 2, and deleted Desktop 1, and it showed the wallpaper as normal for about 30 seconds. Then Mission Control started showing an empty black square in the spot where Desktop 2 would have been.
Currently running the newest macOS.

How to show application windows only for current Space in Exposé, and not aggregated from all Spaces

I just started using **Spaces** in **10.14** (I know I'm a little late to) and was excited at first until I encountered this scenario:
When I am in a **Space** and do **Exposé** to "Show me ALL *Application* Windows", **Exposé** shows me **ALL** the windows opened for that App across ALL Spaces (and not just from the current **Space**)
However, the behavior in the next scenario is perfect:
When I am in a **Space** and do **Exposé** to "Show me ALL Windows for ALL running applications", **Exposé** dutifully shows me only the relevant windows for "**ALL**" running applications in the "**Current**" space only. - GREAT!
The problem with showing me "All Windows for Current Application Across ALL Spaces" easily overwhelms me, and to me it cancels out the usefulness of **Spaces** to organize productivity & workflow.
I created my **Desktops** to keep things separate.
If anyone has has any insight please share- would love to use **Spaces**!

But on my macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 machine, when I can launch App Exposé and see all the windows; but when I click on a different window, nothing happens—I stay on my current desktop instead of navigating to the app window on a different desktop.
Is there some Mission Control or App Exposé setting that I'm missing? I tried to take a cursory look through the *Mission Control* menu in the System Settings app (but I didn't find anything obviously wrong—see screenshot), restarting the Dock process with the
killall Dock
command, and restarting my laptop; but to no avail!

or
- If the application is already on focus, clicking its icon on the dock will show exposé.
Is this possible?

When App Exposé shows my browser windows (i.e., 4-finger swipe down or Control-↓), the order of the windows changes from one time to the next, and I cannot find the window I'm looking for easily. (What I'm really after is an efficient way to flip back and forth between the two or three most recently used windows in an application, but that's another story.) Can anyone tell me if there is any logic to the ordering of the application windows in App Exposé, or if it is just random?

Introduced in macOS Sierra, the user can control how fast the Mission Control animation moves to the “end view”, by how fast the action is performed on a trackpad.
I think the default setting is much too slow, and I don't want to overdo the gesture each time just to get better efficiency out of the animation.
This 2012 article refers to settings like these:
defaults write com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration -float 0; killall Dock
for fast animations, and to reset:
defaults delete com.apple.dock expose-animation-duration; killall Dock
I have tried them in Sierra and they don't work.

It creates one overview with 3x3 desktops, although each desktop is a weird shape of two rectangles touching and offset, representing the two monitors.
I would much prefer to have both desktops used for this view, with a 3x3 display of the primary spaces on the primary display, and a 2nd 3x3 display of the secondary desktops on the second display.
Does anyone know of a
defaults

Mission control just does not work: using hot corners, keyboard shortcut, or even double clicking Mission Control.app, there is no way to make my Mac go to Mission Control/Exposé. By the way, I have hot corners for showing desktop and app windows exposé, neither of which work. Hot corners for dashboard and Notification center work as usual.
Any ideas why does it happen, how could I solve it?
Thanks a lot.

I'm a software developer and my daily work involves about 8 or 10 different applications or web-based tools. I work on a 13" MB Pro without an external monitor, and typically I use the touch pad's app exposé function to quickly switch between windows. Most of the applications have a characteristic look, so my brain is usually pretty quick to identify the particular window that I need. Lately, however, both as a result of some uniformity trends in web and application design as well as the particular set of tools my latest job requires, all the windows look the same and it's hard to distinguish applications in exposé.
GitHub? White screen, black bar on top. AWS console? White screen, black bar on top. Outlook? White screen, black bar. Postman, Jenkins, various StackExchange sites? You see where I'm going with this... App exposé basically shows a lot of very similar looking windows. A few of these allow theming, but it requires that you have full control over the application or web site, so it's not always an option.
My question now: is there a way in Mac OS to customize the window title bar color on a per-window basis to make them look more distinct? Are there some other visual customization utilities available? (I noticed, e.g., that Microsoft Teams is able to put a colored frame around a window that's shared with the team).

On Snow Leopard (latest version, but it's been happening for a while), I have the top right corner set to show Spaces, and the bottom right to show the Desktop. Occasionally, often enough to be annoying, and without any reason I can discern, these hot corners stop working. I have tried:
* changing the action of the hot corners, mouse in (nothing happens), then change back
* turning off Spaces and turning it back on
* toggling the Spaces icon in the menu bar (worth a shot, right?)
*
killall Finder
* killall Dock
* killall SystemUIServer
None of these work. If I close the MacBook to suspend it, then bring it back up, that fixes the problem, but is less than ideal if I have, e.g. a big download going.
Is there a way to quickly (i.e. not log out/log in, not restart) fix the hot corners? Is there some special program I don't recognize in the System Monitor that will restart the hot corners if killed? Is there something that suspend recycles that I can recycle without suspending?

After some googling, I see many articles on circumstances where an iPhone ***can*** be used, but none that say definitely that is perfectly okay to actually do so (or whether it's risky to do so). Also problematic is that most of the top google results come from news paper websites, which are not technical in nature, and therefore not the best sources of such specific questions, and often word sentences to avoid committing to any specifics (and worse, some are speculative i.e. written *before* the details were released by apple!).
Question: if it's pouring rain and you're going out into it, can you continue a phone conversation while walking in that rain?
Assumptions
- That the [device should be thoroughly dried afterward before charging or using any any peripherals](https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT207043)
> If your iPhone has been exposed to liquid, unplug all cables and do not charge your device until it’s completely dry .. allow at least 5 hours
- That the rain is falling like normal (i.e. it is not [pressurised](https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT207043))
> To prevent liquid damage, avoid .. pressurised water or high-velocity water, such as when showering, water skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, jet skiing and so on

I have too many Finder windows open. It's a mess!
First, I need to take stock of everything I have open, so I activate App Exposé (aka Mission Control Application Windows) via ⌘↓. App Exposé shows me I have my Trash open in five different windows. I definitely want to close those!
Unfortunately, while App Exposé makes it easy to see what windows I have open, actually closing them is tedious! I need to individually click each window (which brings it to the front, but deactivates App Exposé), click the red close button (or use ⌘W), then re-activate App Exposé and repeat!
Is there a quicker way to close windows from App Exposé?
