How to name Safari windows?
I usually work with multiple Safari windows open. Each has multiple tabs. Each window is a particular theme. Is there a way to name these windows so I can easily navigate between them? Or is there an app that can do it or at least provide a work around?

People tend to get referred [here](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/253756/speed-up-mission-control-animations-in-macos-sierra) , which only offers a paid program as a solution. I have searched and searched for a free solution, none found. Any hints, help, open source mission control replacements, anything? This thing is slow enough my workflow is getting hampered (I'll switch back and fourth a lot comparing data). I'm really hopeful for some guru who can figure this out. How can we implement this for free?

From time to time on my iPhone I use speech recognition in English and then translate the transcription into a different language, and finally use that translation in some input field in some application. For example I might use Telegram or Line, and need to send a message in Korean or German, but I want to use speech recognition in English as this is the language I commonly speak. What's the fastest way to do so? Currently I use the Google Translate app to transcribe and translate. However this requires me to copy paste the resulting translation into the target application. Is there a more efficient way to do so?

I just started using **Spaces** in **10.14** (I know I'm a little late to) and was excited at first until I encountered this scenario: When I am in a **Space** and do **Exposé** to "Show me ALL *Application* Windows", **Exposé** shows me **ALL** the windows opened for that App across ALL Spaces (and not just from the current **Space**) However, the behavior in the next scenario is perfect: When I am in a **Space** and do **Exposé** to "Show me ALL Windows for ALL running applications", **Exposé** dutifully shows me only the relevant windows for "**ALL**" running applications in the "**Current**" space only. - GREAT! The problem with showing me "All Windows for Current Application Across ALL Spaces" easily overwhelms me, and to me it cancels out the usefulness of **Spaces** to organize productivity & workflow. I created my **Desktops** to keep things separate. If anyone has has any insight please share- would love to use **Spaces**! -------------------------- **Info on my research** I found this article and these 2 Stack Articles: [Customize Mission Control To Show Only Windows From Current Desktop Space](https://www.cultofmac.com/222200/customize-mission-control-to-show-only-windows-from-current-desktop-space-os-x-tips/) [Exposé in 10.7: When exposing “Application Windows”, how do you show only the windows in the current space?](https://superuser.com/questions/315896/expos%C3%A9-in-10-7-when-exposing-application-windows-how-do-you-show-only-the-wi) [How to modify app expose to show only open windows of current application on current desktop?](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/141014/how-to-modify-app-expose-to-show-only-open-windows-of-current-application-on-cur) I thought I'd try to add the wvous-show-windows-in-other-spaces back in to my plist edited ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist -> added xml value
wvous-show-windows-in-other-spaces
killall Dock
But did not work.

I do web development on my Mac and I tend to have lots of windows open. Even per application, I tend to have multiple windows opened (ie a Terminal window for tail -f error logs, one for ssh, and one for local commands). When I switch applications with ⌘tab, the visual effect on focused window is subtle and I often get confused and perform commands on the wrong window. For example, I switch to Terminal and do ⌘w to close a tab on the tail -f command, but I accidentally closed the ssh tab! Is there a Mac program that will _highlight_ or do some more effects on a focused window when I switch applications?

I read in the announcement that Apple's password manager supports QR codes, which makes me understand that it's possible to add 2FA to it, just like Dashlane does. However, when interacting with the UI, I didn't find any clear option to have 2FA/MFA in it. Which, nowadays, is kind of useless since many sites require 2FA.

Is there an app I can use to track screen time for each desktop on my MacBook?
In general I work on a specific desktop and I do other stuff on the other ones. So I would like to track the screen time of that specific desktop in order to know for how long I have been working. How can I measure this? Cheers.

Solution to switch quickly between different group of windows by keeping their state (position) on macOS

I am using macos/osx now for more than 15 years and I always try to figure out a good way to group windows and persist their position and state so that I can quickly switch between those groups (contexts). What do I mean by that: **Project1(context):** - Display 1: Chrome windows with several taps, on the left side of the display - Display 1: Chrome windows with several taps, on the right side of the display - Display 2: Terminal app window **Project2(context):** - Display 1: Chrome windows with several taps, on the left side of the display - Display 1: Chrome windows with several taps, on the right side of the display - Display 2: IDE - Display2: Terminal window (but different one) **Goal:** I want to quickly switch between those project so that windows of the other Project are 'hidden'(or moved somewhere out of my sight) and only the windows of the selected Project are displayed. The position of the windows should also be persistent. There is a similar question but it's over 2 years old and no solution. **Current Solution:** At the moment I am using multiple desktops where my displays counts as a single desktop so I can switch both at the same time. This way I can order all the windows in each desktop and have one desktop for one context. However there are some issues with that: - When I close my laptop or go to stand by, all windows appear on my laptop screen - I also want to have context independent windows (chat f.e.) which means when I am on desktop 2 and want to quickly chat, the desktop switches to the one where the chat app is open. I looked at totalspaces but it seems like it is not supported anymore and does not work with the lates macos (m1). I also had a look at workspaces but it lacks in keeping the windows positions persistent and also does not have the capability to switch between workspaces the way I described it above. I am looking for any possibilities to improve my situation via paid app, free app, scripting or anything else.

I need to have my keyboard layout settings stick to the applications where I set them. So when I go to chats (say in the Telegram app), I want the language to be German or whatever else I left off with. But then when I go to terminal, I want it to go back to what it was, which is English. The current state is, I switch the keyboard layout, and it's a global setting, so I cannot multitask because I have to keep switching layouts, which is very counter-productive. Allow me to add that I'm new to mac... so apologies if this is a dumb question. This kind of setting is standard on Linux and Windows. In MacOS Ventura, 13.01, when I go to "System Settings", I type in the search bar "input source" (see the screenshot), I see the option in the filtered search "Allow a different input source for each document"... is this what I need? I don't know, because I can't see it anyway when I click on it. See the screenshot. Keyboard settings Where is that option that I filtered for? And will it provide the result I expect, i.e., saving layout state when I switch the app and come back to it?

Keyboard shortcut to make window fill up screen
Is there a keyboard shortcut or a way of setting one to fill the window to the whole screen size, without actually being full screened. There is a way by holding shift and clicking the green plus icon, but I'd prefer a keyboard shortcut for this.

Still, it seems that on OS X, that Command ⌘ + C does not work and I'm wondering if there is another method for doing this. Doing screenshots is not so convenient, especially that they are not searchable :p I am looking for a **generic solution, if it exists**. Here is an example: enter image description here

(I personally only need a solution for Mac but collecting solutions for other systems here might be useful to others. I’m sure it’s a common problem.)
