Recently, we have migrated the devices to Intune (we used WS1 before) and, for some reason, I can't make Nudge available again. I'm deploy the .pkg and the config profile but it's not working at all, I was looking for logs but I couldn't find them. /Library/logs/ and ~/Library/Logs Previously, we had only Nudge.app but I also deploy Nudge Essentials, Nudge LaunchAgent, Nudge Logger, Nudge Suite. (For testing) The configuration profile that I'm using I took it from here https://github.com/macadmins/nudge/blob/main/Example%20Assets/com.github.macadmins.Nudge.mobileconfig with some modifications.
requiredInstallationDate
2021-09-30T00:00:00Z (I decided to don't change this to force Nudge to open automatically as the year is 2021)
requiredMinimumOSVersion
14.6.1
targetedOSVersionsRule
11
Any ideas? Have to say that I have never used Intune before. Thanks, J

What is com.apple.MobileSoftwareUpdate.UpdateBrainService? I have it running and using a lot of CPU resources. (about 300% CPU core in top) I also found out it would mount a partition at /System/Volumes/Update/mnt1 when it's running. I am not 100% sure if this mount point is related to this process. It's just my observation. I am running MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3 (20D91). My auto update is always turned **off**. I found two online links talking about it, [link1](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252177683) and [link2](https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/lhhrb9/what_is/) . But they don't explain what it is and why it's running. Thank you very much. **Update 1:** I figured out even if I have Automatically keep my Mac up to date turned off. There is an Advanced... button in **Software Update** preference. In the Advanced... setup popup window, it has the following options enabled: Check for updates, Download new updates when available. I think this might cause com.apple.MobileSoftwareUpdate.UpdateBrainService process running and downloaded Big Sur updates. I am not very sure. Just a guess. **Update 2:** I have clicked **Restart** in ***Software Update*** preference. Now, my system updated to 11.4. I have turned off Check for updates in Advanced... window. Hopefully, this issue and process will never run again.

All of the sudden my 2013 iMac on Catalina ran out of space. Last time I checked (last week), I'd about 400GB of space on my 1TB hard drive. Now the computer starts really slow and then it says I've -43Mb (yes, with a minus sign). I think the problem is related to an update (I forgot to disable updates, every update is a mess). I'd Time Machine, but my wife had to back up her Windows computer in an emergency, so I lent her my external hard drive. When the update ran, there was no external hard drive connected, and last week I saw some messages about Time Machine errors (I don't remember where, though, because I freaked out and tried everything I could ). Anyway, I deleted a lot of files, and I mean at least 100 GB. Still the same problem. Also, when I use the System Information and then Space Administrator (maybe that's not the right name, I translate from Spanish, but it's the option Cmd+U), the Documents / Large Files option is empty, although it's 177.48 GB. enter image description here I'm going crazy and really don't know what to do. I've tried the software mentioned in https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/261252/system-storage-on-macos-sierra-is-470gb to no avail, because what I delete doesn't really get deleted, it just disappears. I'm watching closely and I see it's creating files (or something) at a 30MB/s rate. So I deleted almost 2GB and a couple minutes later I ran out of space. So it seems there's some process or soemthing that's causing this behavior Does anyone have any idea what I can do or how I can find (and delete) these "ghost" files?

[The title of this post is somewhat more general than the problem at hand, because a general solution, if any, would be useful in other situations.] There is an update to macOS itself (Ventura 13.3) but I want to do it after Time Machine finishes the current backup. But, Time Machine says that it will take 18 hours. How can I ask the OS to update itself, unattended, after Time Machine finishes **or** after 24 hours, say. Or, would the updater wait for Time Machine to finish? (I don't want to try.) I don't mind using the command line tool softwareupdate: I could just say sleep $((24*60*60)) && sudo softwareupdate -r, but I don't know how to supply my password to the updater.

Update history shows the update was done on Monday, the automatic updates were disabled 2 weeks prior to that date. **1. Why are the disabled options not working (particularly "Install macOS updates")?** **2. How do I prevent MacBook from ever updating anything automatically?**

I need to disable auto updates for one of the apps installed on my Mac (OS X 10.11.4). The developer keeps releasing new versions but I want to stay at a specific version that works just as I need. * This is not a store app, I downloaded it from the developer's site. * I know this app uses the Sparkle.framework for autoupdating. * The application does not offer any options/preferences to control automatic updates. They just happen. Every couple of days the application updates itself and I have to manually downgrade to the version I want to keep. Is there anything I can do so the application doesn't update automatically? I'm confortable with the command line and with editing low level configuration, but I am not familiar with the sparkle update process.

I have a Macbook Air (11-inch, Early 2014) currently running the latest version of MacOS Big Sur (as of the time of this posting) 11.7.1. I am regularly getting on-screen notifications that MacOS Monterey is ready to be downloaded and installed, but when I click the notification (or manually navigate to System Preferences -> Software Update), the only message I receive is Your Mac is up to date - MacOS Big Sur 11.7.1. This has been going on for months now - since MacOS Monterey was first made available to my machine. I get a notification that Monterey is available, but then there is no option to actually update and the Software Update window doesn't show that Monterey is available. I have had no problem with Big Sur updates during that time, and I am constantly able to keep my Big Sur version up to date, so there isn't a problem with the update service in that regard. Any ideas?

I use an app called Workflowy on MacOS. I need to use a separate account on my Mac that doesn’t have admin privileges right now. Whenever Workflowy has an update, I need to enter the admin username and password to install it. This is expected in of itself, but sometimes this happens several times a day, and gets to be quite distracting. If I click cancel here, I’m prompted perhaps 15-30 minutes later. If I move this screen to the bottom right corner of the screen where only the top left corner of the window is visible, I am able to ignore it, but oddly so long as this window is open, Mac needs to run a core at 100% CPU and this drains my battery. Is there a way to work around this without getting admin access on this Mac account? PS: I've also contacted Workflowy for ideas on their end. enter image description here

Since yesterday, I'm having a problem with auto update from Opera. Until yesterday I had no problem. I'm in OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5, and the last supported version is Opera 37.0.2178.54. Now it automatically updates to 48.0.2685.39 and after I close Opera I cannot open Opera again because it tells me “This version is not supported, you need 10.9”. In version 37, there is no preference setting to turn off autoupdate - you get it whether you want it or not. How can I stop Opera from auto updating? I want to be in version 37, which is supported in my operating system.

I've deleted all associated files in the relevant ~/Library/ directories and made sure there are no hits for files when I search my Mac for "AutoUpdate" and the like. Despite of this, the MAU prompts return every time I restart my Mac. When I search my Mac for files again after the restart, I can see that there are two new folders called "com.microsoft.autoupdate2" and "com.microsoft.autoupdate.fba" which are located in the directory ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.ms", which contains another empty folder called "MerpTempItems" and an empty .txt file called "Microsoft AutoUpdate.MERP.params.txt". Even when I delete the entire "UBF8T346G9.ms" directory, it returns with the exact same contents on the next start up. Can someone please help me get rid of Microsoft AutoUpdate for good? Edit: my macOS version is 10.14.6 and Office version is 16.54. The entire Office Suite is installed. As for the licence: it says "Licence: Not Activated", whatever that means.

How can I remove the update files to avoid the pesky daily reminder?

How to block updates to Mac OS X Catalina?
Mac OS X Catalina will be released in a few days, so how can I block updates to that OS so it doesn't get downloaded and, ideally, I don't even get prompts to upgrade. I have 32-bit software I intend to keep on using, so I can't update since this version of OS X will support 64-bit apps only.
