My teenage son was out last night and his location stopped updating on my wife's "Find my iPhone" app around 7pm. We suspected he had turned off his location, but he's saying that his phone died. Everyone else in my family uses iPhones, but I'm an Android user, so I can't use the "Find my iPhone", although I can see it on the website.
I looked at his battery history this morning and it looks like it never totally died:
It's also my understand that iPhones will try to update their location for a while after they "die."

My wife and I have shared our location from iMessage for years, but in the last several months (possibly since iOS 18) is has become first unreliable, now simply not working.
- The symptoms are the same for each of us.
- When I look for her location on iMessage, it first says "Locating ..." and then often "No location found"
- other times it just keep spinning the indeterminate progress circle
- A red link offers to "Stop sharing location", so I know location sharing is on.
- Things looks exactly the same from her side.
- Find My (people) fails the same way.
I have checked privacy settings, and both iMessage and FindMy says "Allow location sharing when App is open". (There is no "Always" option).
I’m not sure if "App is open" mean the app is on the screen if it includes when the app a background process.
Are there options for troubleshooting this?

I recently tried using iCloud's Find My device and it would not show my phone's location.
When I looked at the Privacy Settings for Location Services, I noticed I could not set the Find My permission to "Always;" I could only set it to "When using," "Allow Once," or "Never." I had used iCloud before without a problem. I have also enabled it in the "System Services" section.
When I open "Find My" on the phone, it works fine, but the web interface doesn't register that location.
Can I fix this gap?

How can I know which is her current one? Her previous models are a iPhone 4S, an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 6. I don't see any place to check each phone's model.

What can I do when "Find My iPhone" won't turn off?

I've been trying to restore my iPhone SE (running iOS 10.3.1) from a local iTunes backup, but iTunes on the Mac says that it cannot preform a restore until I turn off the "Find My iPhone" feature. I've been repeatedly trying to do this, but to no avail. I also tried restarting the iPhone or doing a hard reset between attempts.
When I try to turn the Find My iPhone feature off via *Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Find My iPhone,* the screen shows one of three things:
1. The slider moves to the Off position, but when I return to the iCloud page, the Find My iPhone line indicates that the feature is still On. (If I return to the Find My iPhone page, it indeed shows the slider as On.)
2. A prompt appears, asking for my Apple ID password. Entering it doesn't do anything (obvious).
3. Like # 2, I get an Apple ID prompt. Entering it just leads to an error message: "Verification Failed: There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server." However, when I check Apple's System Status web page , all of their services (including Apple ID and iCloud) are in the green.
I've seen other questions asking how to turn "Find My iPhone" off, such as [this 2014 question](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/123640/how-do-i-turn-off-find-my-iphone-on-my-device-without-wi-fi) which asks how to do it without wi-fi access, but I haven't seen anything that addresses my specific scenario.
Has anyone else resolved an issue like this? What else can I try? Any idea why it is happening?

The battery of my iPhone SE 1st generation started to die and Apple no longer carries new batteries for that model. I immediately replaced it with a 3rd generation. Due to its much greater expense, I started to explore the capability of finding a lost iPhone. The iPhone is the only Apple device that I own.
If I turn on location services on the iPhone, I can use any browser to log into iCloud and locate the iPhone.
When location services is turned off (on the iPhone), the location doesn't show up on the browser. I usually turn off location services. ***Is there any way to remotely turn it on from iCloud?***
I note that if I don't have my iPhone, I cannot fulfill the 2-factor authentication needed by iCloud and my sign-in to iCloud is limited to finding the iPhone.
I found similar questions about enable "location" or "Find My" on a stolen phone, but I'm specifically interested in enabling location services on a stolen phone.
Furthermore, the responses to those similar questions refer to an information page for when the phone is stolen, but it does not say whether location services can be turned on remotely.
I have seen mention of the capability to use a network of Apple devices to locate a stolen/lost phone that is turned off, but haven't been able to find much detail about it.

I do not have an iPhone, but I do have a Mac Book Pro. I recently shared my Mac Book's location with all my friends I had saved in my Mac's message's app (I have their iPhone numbers). I also asked them to share their locations with me. I can successfully see their locations (their iPhones), but they cannot see my location (my MacBook) on the FindMy app.
I'm not sure how to solve this problem, because my Location Services are turned on and I can see their locations. I can see my own Mac's location on Find My (it fully shows up), so its just all my friends that cannot see my location (on my Mac's messages app it says I have "shared my location" with them).
P.S: This is not too different from someone tracking their Mac and owning an iPhone simultaneously, so its not like this is some new situation. My cousins have their iMacs and MacBooks on Find My, etc.

Does factory reset notify me of device removal on Find My iPhone?
My iPhone was stolen today. I had not put a passcode on the device. If the device is reset from the Settings, will I be notified? The device was running iOS 7.0.4. Lost mode was activated and the device is now offline.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! I could “forget” the earbuds and then reconnect them in Bluetooth and try again, but not sure if that’sa good idea...

Help police finding my iPhone
I have my iPhone 13 (iOS 16, no JB) stolen. I have marked it as lost in Locator app and reported to police and gave them IMEI's. Maybe it is better now to erase the phone and turn the Lost mode off? So the thieves can use it, make calls and impersonate themselves to the police. Is it a good idea?

Is it possible for AirPods to think on their think that they are "lost" and start tracking its location even if the owner hasn't triggered a "Find My" search?
Someone I was hanging out with recently was notified that their phone/location was being tracked by an "item." This alert popped up while we were together. After an hour of searching, we found that my AirPods were the culprit. But what's interesting is that I never triggered a search for them, so I am curious as to why it started tracking that person's device. I never received a notification or alert that the AirPods were missing or were monitoring someone.
Apple's documentation is not helpful regarding this matter. Has this happened to anyone, or has an understanding of why this would happen?

I've been checking system services within my location services regularly and have noticed the grey arrow by the side of Find My iPhone (FMIP). I understand this means it was accessed in the last 24 hrs.
If I used FMIP to locate my daughter through her email address the arrow appears in location services only and not within system services. From what I can tell the only time the arrow appears against FMIP in system services is if someone has logged in to my own FMIP using my email and password, is that correct?
Presuming no apps or anything used FMIP as they would need to know my password and email, I am concerned my ex is tracking my location. I have changed my password but it's still happening.
Is my understanding of how the arrows work correct? If not can someone clarify for me.
