New Safari windows do not open fully zoomed after update to Sequoia (macOS 15)

I always use Safari in its own space with the window fully zoomed (*not* full screen). For as long as I can remember, whenever I would launch Safari or open a new window, I'd get a window zoomed full screen as if the system remembered my last window size. In fact, even now, if I open a new Safari window, resize it to be 1/4 of the screen, close it, and then open a new window, that new window will be the same size as the one I just closed filling the same 1/4 of the screen, so it seems the system does keep track of recent window sizes. Immediately after updating to macOS 15, however, new Safari windows would no longer be fully zoomed. Instead, they appear to be fully vertically zoomed, but leave a small margin on either the left or the right of the window. Of course, I can hover over the green window control and use the new 'Fill & Arrange' feature to zoom to full screen, and I changed my system settings to fully zoom when I double-click the title bar since it's a lot faster than using the window controls. (Incidentally, I discovered there's no default system keyboard shortcut to zoom a window, which surprises me.) But it really bugs me that once I've zoomed a Safari window, if I close it and immediately open a new one, the system forgets I was just using a fully zoomed window and I have to take that one extra step to zoom it to full screen. I suppose this is more of a sanity check—am I nuts, or has anyone else noticed the same change in behavior? I've Googled around, and I see lots of complaints throughout the years about trouble using zoom controls, but I haven't seen anyone complain about this specific problem in Sequioa.

Zoom affects MacBook Pro M1 16" sound quality even if Zoom is not running
Sometimes the sound quality (for example music sound) of my MacBook Pro M1 16" becomes very bad. And only one solution for me is to start Zoom, wait when it will load and quit Zoom. After that the sound becomes normal again. My OS: MacOs Ventura Version 13.2.1 Can it be fixed somehow?

I tried to use the accessibility/zoom feature on a terminal window which is running a ssh session to a remote FreeBSD host and where after login to the remote system a "screen" session has been launched. It appears that the "zoom" feature is only aware of the original text that was displayed in the terminal window before screen was launched, so is rendering a zoomed version of that original text instead of what is currently displayed. Can anyone suggest what option settings might enable the zoom feature to display the correct text?

Is there a way to set the accessibility zoom increment?
In accessibility, you can enable keyboard shortcuts to zoom, and then use Command + Option + = / - to zoom in and out. But the zoom amount is too minimal, and each time I want to zoom in, I have to press Command + Option + = + = + = or even more to get where I want to be. I'd estimate that the zoom amount for each increment is perhaps 5%, at most 10%, and I want it to be something like 20% or maybe even 30% So, is there a terminal command (I'm assuming that's the answer) to edit some internal setting to update the increment value?

I can use the zoom buttons (AA) in Safari 17's toolbar to increase the size of every element on a page. I can also hold alt/option to increase only the page's text size in the View menu (called the "Content" menu in my locale). I really like the toolbar buttons (I use them in both Safari and Firefox), and I really like zooming text only so as not to introduce horizontal scrollbars on narrow displays, but I can't seem to use the toolbar buttons with the alt/option modifier to get the same effect as in the menu. **Is there a way to adjust text size from Safari's toolbar?** If I remember correctly, in Firefox, for comparison, there is a permanent option to "Zoom text only" which solves it there.

Why does the necessary key combination to zoom in/out change while using Apple Maps?
When using Maps on my iMac, I'm able to zoom in/out using only +/- when I first open the app. However, after requesting directions to a location, I need to use CMD-(+/-) to zoom in/out, even after I close out the directions. Why do the controls change, and what can I do to change this behavior?

As of at least macOS Sonoma v14.4, part of the system accessibility feature of being able to zoom in on a portion of your screen, seems to be broken. Specifically it broke the ability to move the zoomed-in area around so you can see other parts of the screen. This seems to be broken on Intel-based Macs. Not sure if Apple silicon Macs have the same problem. If I use the default panning mode, "Zoomed image moves: When Pointer Reaches Edge", I can't move the zoomed-in area at all. If I use either of the other two options, "Continuously with Pointer" or "To Keep Pointer Centered", I'm immediately kicked out of zoomed-in mode as soon as I move my mouse. How can I fix this?

How to prevent Zoom from hijacking the "Escape" key during screen sharing with meeting controls hidden?

In Zoom Screen Sharing, there is a "meeting controls" window by default, which can get in the way. It is possible to hide it with the ⌘ Command^ Control⌥ OptionH keyboard shortcut, which is nice. However, if you press the Esc key at any time during the screen share (for example, to stop editing in Vim, or un-focus an input field in a web form), Zoom will show the meeting controls again _and steal window focus_, which is quite disruptive. Zoom does not seem to offer any settings to disable this behavior. Relevant Zoom community forum post here: How can I disable Escape key binding in Zoom? Is there a way to prevent this, perhaps with a tool like Karabiner-Elements? I think what I want to do is prevent Zoom from listening to the Esc key when I am focused on other windows.

However, every time I begin dictating, Zoom audio cuts out, making this setup impossible. - Input to M2 Mac mini is a Blue Yeti external mic connected via USB. - Output audio through my AirPods Pro So, audio input for both macOS dictation and Zoom is through the Yeti Mic. If the Dock is along the side of the screen, the window fills the space below the menu bar and to the side of the Dock.`. But the actual action of zoom varies from apps to apps. Not to mention third-party apps, the actions of zoom in native apps in macOS are different. And sometimes double click does nothing, sometimes it expand the window to max size, sometimes it only expand horizontally, but not vertically. In Finder, it is more weird, it is very hard to explain in detail but I am very confused.

At 3x the telephoto camera is used instead. I tested this by covering telephoto camera. Until 3x zoom nothing changes if you cover it. At 3x and more, the picture is obscured. Does it imply that from 1x to 3x the zoom is only digital, exactly at 3x it is optical and after that it is digital again? Similar thing for zoom between 0.5x and 1x. This question is different from suggested question: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/461766/optical-zoom-on-iphone-xs because it is regarding different phone with different number of cameras which might work differently.

For some reason, Excel text is teeny tiny on this Mac. How do I set it to ALWAYS zoom at 125%? Do I have to save a default template or something at 125%, or is there an easier way?

It is actually already this large and pixelated before I have even sent it. The annoying thing is that it was working as I expected a few weeks ago. I can’t recall exactly but it might have changed after an update (16.4.1a). I copied the same image into the notes app and its small is expected there.

It looks like command-w will close the window, and I'm trying to find a way to customize a setting so that all I need to hit is "delete" (not backspace) on my external keyboard to activate that same command-w function. I changed mute/unmute and video on/off to my never used page up/down keys and got really excited about the opportunity to optimize my zoom life. Would appreciate any suggestions offered in a computer-dumdum-friendly way! Thanks so much.

It was probably caused by a bug in the previous version.

Previously I had the Zoom Audio Driver (can't remember exactly what it's called) present in both my Audio/MIDI setup, but also available in my system as audio selections. I did a reformat of my computer and reinstalled Zoom (have uninstalled and reinstalled several times), but no Zoom Audio Driver is present. Is this something that needs to be installed separately? Where would I find it and I guess more importantly why did it not install in my system this time around? My understanding was that it is installed with the Zoom desktop app. Current OS is Mac OS Ventura 13.3.1
