My Pixel 3 XL is up-to-date regarding the OTA updates i.e. I have the latest firmware installed. I've never done anything special regarding "tweaking", such as enabling the developer mode i.e. the developer mode is unfortunately not enabled. I was browsing the Internet and the phone suddenly rebooted unexpectedly. Then it was in a reboot loop. I pressed power and volume down buttons to enter the boot menu. The boot loop stopped but I was unable to do anything to make my phone boot properly again. In the recovery menu, there is no option to wipe the cache partition. There should be roughly 400 MB of free space on the phone. I was thinking that maybe this could have been the cause of the issue. When the phone is off and not plugged to the charger, the percentage of battery decreases. When the charger is plugged, the percentage of battery does not decrease but does not increase either. It seems I cannot charge the phone anymore. Currently remains 13%. When the phone is off and I press the power button, the Google logo shows up and the progress bar below has just time to appear before the phone vibrates and goes off. I don't care much saving the phone, but it's extremely important to me to be able to recover the photos it contains (standard DCIM folder). Most of what I found googleing so far is about wiping the cache partition, but there is no such option on my Pixel 3 XL. Since the developer mode (USB debugging) was not enabled when the phone was working fine, I cannot use adb to pull files. I can sideload though. As far as I understood, in my situation it is not possible to enable the developer mode. I've just heard about TeamWin Recovery Project, and still trying to figure out if this can help me. How can I, at least, backup my photos? Of course the best would be able to boot the phone normally, but really my first goal is to save my photos. Is there a way to reflash the firmware with the same version, or another version, without losing data, just like what happens on a regular update e.g. when a new Android version is deployed? EDIT: I was wrong, the percentage of battery dcreases even when the charger is plugged, meaning that soon I won't be able to even turn the phone on.

Pixel 3 XL - has worked like a champ for years, but just started bootlooping. If I hold vol down + power, I can get into fastboot. However, volume down and volume up buttons don't let me navigate. Either one of those just restarts the phone. I don't believe there is any physical issue with the volume buttons since they've always worked perfet. If I let the phone just sit in FASTBOOT mode, after about 5 seconds it restarts and starts looping again. I needed a phone right away, so I found another used Pixel 3 XL, and I'm using that now. I'd love to get the old one booting again so I can sell it, or at the very least, ensure that I do a factory reset on it before bringing to a recycler. Any ideas how I can get out of FASTBOOT mode or securely delete my data?

I have been considering buying a Google Pixel 3 or 3 XL Android smartphone to use primarily for photography and phone calls. Google advertises that these phones have 12MP main cameras. That's fewer megapixels than I would like in a camera, but I was still considering those devices as possibilities. While performing research, I saw a short video clip that showed Google's UI. From what I could tell, 12MP is only available in 4:3 aspect ratio. In 16:9 aspect ratio, the resolution drops all the way down to a paltry 8MP. That's *much* less resolution that what I what in a camera. Is the resolution of the main camera in the Google Pixel 3 and 3XL only ~8MP in 16:9 mode? If so, is this limitation true for their entire line of Pixel smartphones?

I am considering purchasing a new Google Pixel 3XL Android phone, primarily for photography. I don't believe those phones have been manufactured for 2-3 years, so I am concerned about the battery health. If the phone has been sitting in a box for 2 years with 0% charge, my understanding is that it's likely the battery will not function well. For this reason, I'm wondering: What is the approximate battery discharge rate of Google Pixel 3XL Android phones when turned off? (Also, if anyone happens to know how approximately much battery charge was present when the phones were placed in their box, that will be helpful.)

I had a previously working Pixel 3XL, running Dirty Unicorns (flashed in December). I hadn't touched the bootloader / fastboot since then, but just a couple of days ago, [I rebooted the phone and it refused to boot after that](https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/phone-bricked-after-reboot-fastboot-stuck-in-device-state-error.4272199) . The issue is that fastboot cannot determine the locked status of the phone (Device-State: error!), and therefore behaves as if it's locked (and therefore cannot continue with AVB). I was curious if something in the system / boot / userspace was able to corrupt the bootloader, or if it was simply a failing battery / emmc. [It seems that other people have been struck with this issue](https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/device-state-error.3885161/) , some of them with stock ROM. (I've tried the battery method. It didn't work for me) (More details in the XDA post linked above. Also any data recovery help would be nice)

I recently bought a refurbished unlocked Pixel 3 XL to replace my aging, cracked, broken one of the same model. It came with the bootloader unlocked so I decided to lock it because I didn't like the warning message every time it booted and noticed that in the Fastboot menu of the bootloader it shows: Secure boot: PRODUCTION NOS-production: no I'm concerned about that NOS-production setting; has this device been tampered with? My old Pixel 3 XL shows yes there as well as all other screenshots I see of the bootloader on other P3XL's - they all say yes instead of no. I used flash.android.com and completely flashed the phone to the latest April Android 11 firmware but it still shows no. I can't find any documentation of what that could mean. Any insight would be appreciated!

I have a Pixel 3 XL running Android 11 security update March 5th 2021 I get constant popups that flash for a sec saying app stopped working and goes away, I can't tell which app it is. Other things I noticed, The google news feed (swipe left) is gone. I tried to go to the home settings and toggle it back on and off and it doesn't come back. But also in the home settings if I click At a Glance it sends me to a setting screen and then kicks me back out. The app called Google (not chrome) does not open, if I go to the settings for that app and try to clear storage, a screen pops up called Google Search Settings but then kicks me back out to the previous screen I did a clear storage on Pixel Launcher and I wiped out my home screen, but what ever the app is it keeps crashing. How can I determine what app is causing the issue?

Can't find eSIM option on Google Pixel 3
According to specs, Google Pixel 3 supports eSIM, but under Settings > Mobile networks, there are no relevant options. Is this depending on whether I'm currently in the service area of a mobile network operator supporting eSIM or should this option appear regardless? If so - why doesn't it appear?

I have a Pixel 3 XL with Android P, and for the last 3 days, my phone started vibrating almost every hour, at exactly hh:10m, but without showing any notifications. After much time, I found some sites indicating how to find the origin of the notification: adding a Settings widget to my Home screen, with a Notification log (otherwise I couldn't find the entire log anywhere else). This revealed the cause is Download Manager, informing me at 3:10 AM that I downloaded a file 3 days ago. Now, I don't remember if I tried uninstalling it from the phone, but the fact is that there is **no** such app in the Settings -> Apps & notifications menu, so I cannot change its notification settings. I tried going to the Files app (as some sites mentioned), which states "Notifications: on", but when I select it, the Categories part is empty, so there is nothing to disable. So, **which app is actually emitting the Download Manager notifications, and how can I disable them?**

How can I find the exact factory image version that my Pixel is using?

I have a Pixel 3XL on android 10 and a Pixel 3a on android 11. I had previously installed magisk on the Pixel 3a when android 11 was in beta. Recently I found that it had lost root, presumably because android 11 is out of beta and the phone had upgraded to the latest android 11 and was not using the magisk-patched boot image anymore. So, I patched the corresponding boot image for the latest android 11 factory image for pixel 3a, and fastboot flashed it, and it worked. Unfortunately, I had mixed up my two phones in the fastboot flash step at first, and so then I ended up with the Pixel 3a with android 11 rooted again, but also with the Pixel 3XL stuck on boot, I guess because it had a wrong boot image (for pixel 3a actually) flashed into it. I tried to fix the Pixel 3XL by getting the latest android 10 factory image for it and patching the boot image with magisk. However, after fastboot flash of that patched boot image, it only worked partially. Namely, it could boot, adb shell works, etc., *but* it no longer responds to touch, so can't be used except for adb shell. I'm guessing the problem is that I didn't know what was the factory image actually installed on my Pixel 3L, so I just guessed it was the latest, but the boot image from the latest might have some incompatibility with the actual factory image in the phone. I would like to find out what is the actual factory image installed on the Pixel 3L, so I can try to patch the matching boot image. Hence, my question, how can I know what is the exact version of the android 10 factory image installed on my Pixel 3L? Googling doesn't seem to help, as most pages talk about how to install factory images, not how to find out what is the version installed. In answering my question, please note that I can't interact with the phone now through touch, so cannot check anything under "Settings" with the touch GUI, but can only see the fastboot info (see screenshot below) as well as anything I can access with adb shell (for example, any file in the phone I can check to find out the factory image version installed on the phone?) fastboot mode screen

My Google Pixel 3XL was working perfectly fine and now it refuses to connect to wifi. It just says "Failed to connect to network" whenever and however I try. I'm not running a custom ROM. I have not installed anything new since it was working - it was working fine and then it wasn't I haven't physically damaged my phone, wifi seems to be the only thing effected, all other functions are normal as far as I can see Here is everything I've tried: I've checked that the wifi router works by testing it with other devices. I've tried connecting to new SSIDs that the phone has never met before I've tried conneting in safe mode I've installed the latest updates to my phone and tried again This old question suggests that I delete a wifi config file: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/29973/wifi-error-failed-to-connect-to-network I cant access that file, probably because I'm not root. So that is probably not going to happen. The next thing to try is a factory reset. But I really really want to avoid that. Do any of you have anything else I can try?

I am familiar with how iOS devices report hot spot use by treating it differently somehow. My understand is that Android is not crippled like this, and there is rightly no difference in traffic between hot spot data and data from the phone itself. So I was a bit shocked when I received a text from Verizon telling me I had used up almost all my paltry hot-spot "allowance" because this should not be possible that it discriminates traffic like that. How is this possible? I have used my hotspot a lot before and never received this message. I have read something about an "APN"s but there is only one, "VZWINTERNET" which can only be "reset to default" with no option to delete or create a new one.
