Android 2.2 Galaxy S SGH-T959 kernel update with netfilter
I can't seem to find a kernel update for this phone that would include netfilter. Does anyone know a different way to install netfilter on this phone?

I'm using a Samsung Vibrant (aka Samsung T959 Galaxy S) (Installed Jellybean). Sometimes when I keep mobile data off for a while, it doesn't turn on. I have to reboot it to make it work again.

Possibly this happened after an [Audio Manager](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.audiowidget) update but I don't see any settings in the app to change it. Previously the notification was silent, I didn't even know it could have a sound! There doesn't seem to be a relevant setting under
Settings -> Sound
.
How can I disable this notification sound?
I'm rooted, running 2.2 (TeamWhiskey's NextGen v1).

su (sudo) command not found Galaxy S Vibrant

I have an unrooted *Galaxy S Vibrant* and I was trying to root it permanently with z4root, unsuccessfully. While I try to do it permantly it seems to do it, but when I try to run *Titanium Backup* or any app that requires root permissions, it won't gain privileges. So, I installed a terminal app, and when I tried to run the
su
command it displays a command not found
error.
My question is, what is missing from the OS? Any Idea? I know that you must have to be root in order to run certains commands but in that case it should display another error message?

I have a Samsung Vibrant. Today I tried to use the "HD Camcorder" app that came with the phone. The live video preview shows up, but when I press the record button it pops up a "Warning" box that says "Recording failed" with an OK button below. I tap OK and the live camera preview comes back and updates as usual but the record button and other UI elements are gone now -- can't seem to do anything except quit the app.
The Camera app works fine, I just tried it.
I haven't tried to record video in a while, but if I go to "quick view" in the camcorder app it shows me the what looks like the first frame of a video I remember shooting a year or two ago, however if I tap Play it switches to a thing with playback controls and shows a progress dohickey for a second and then tells me "Sorry, this video cannot be played." in a box over a black background.
What are some things I could try at this point? I tried checking to see if the storage was full, but both the internal storage and the SD card have plenty of free space. I tried looking to see if I could find some other free video recording app in the Market, to see if that might still work, but no luck there either. What could be wrong here?
The phone says it's running 2.1-update1, build number ECLAIR.UVKA2.

What do I need to know about the "weird" Galaxy S Vibrant emergency call handling?
Vibrant support was dropped from CyanogenMod after 7.1 (Gingerbread) due to [issues](http://pocketnow.com/android/cyanogenmod-drops-vibrant-911-support-its-achilles-heel) with [failed 911 calls](http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/32208-911-doesnt-work-on-vibrant-but-works-on-other-galaxy-s-models/)....

I flashed 7.1 a bit before this was made known, and have since reverted to my stock-based ROM. This is obviously a bit concerning and I have a few remaining questions:
- Did flashing CM damage anything? (I.e., will emergency calls work now that I'm on a different ROM?)
- Can this happen with stock-based ROMs?
- Was it all emergency calls, or just 911?
- Is it related to Gingerbread?
- Has it been fixed in CM? I've seen a few things both ways.

What's the difference between the 5 Samsung Vibrant models?
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S Vibrant, which has the Samsung model number SGH-T959. The only difference in the downloads is that the ZKBTMK doesn't have any manuals or instructions. Apart from that, all the files are dated the same across all 5 versions.
What are the differences between these phones? And how can I tell which one my device is?

Will installing cyanogenmod7 on my Samsung Vibrant require me to wipe my phone first?

I'm interested in putting CyanogenMod on my Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S). The FAQ on Cyanogenmod says:
> Q: Do I have to wipe my data before I install CyanogenMod?

I understand there's a possibility if something goes wrong that I might have to wipe my phone. However, in the Vibrant instructions right after booting into ClockworkMod Recovery it says to "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition". That seems to me to indicate that a factory reset is required, which I would think would wipe out everything on my phone.
Is it just that the Vibrant's instruction require a reset or am I not understanding something? Thanks!
