iphone - is the hotspot isolated (can you see other devices)?
When I turn on the Apple hotspot feature, is it an isolated network, or can I see other devices on it? Can I use it to connect a third device to a Chromecast? As in tablet -> iPhone with hotspot (and cellular data off) -> Chromecast? I want to use a Chromecast while on holiday!

I have been using my phone to cast to my chromecast for almost a year with no problems but about a month ago my phone stopped seeing that my chromecast was available. Fortunately I have an older iPad, so in the case where my phone does not work I use my iPad to cast which still works as it always has. My iPhone and iPad are both on the same WiFi network so if one sees the chromecast, so should the other. Why does my phone not see my chromecast on the same WiFi network but my iPad does? What I have tried: 1) In the beginning I found that if I reset the chromecast that would allow the phone to see it and cast to it, but that does not work anymore. RESET CHROMECAST = NO 2) I try resetting my iPhone but there is no change. RESET PHONE = NO 3) In the beginning I found that if I reset the WiFi router that would fix it, but that no longer works. RESET ROUTER = NO 4) I thought maybe the chromecast was old and breaking so I recently got a new device but that did not have any effect on this problem. BUY A NEW CHROMECAST = NO My conclusion: I may be wrong, but the last thing I can think of is that the phone is broken. Does anyone have any ideas before I conclude that the phone is just broken?

Did Apple drop/ reduce support for Chromecast?
It appears to me that it is getting increasingly difficult to cast to Chromecast from my iPhone (iOS 16.1.2). It appears to me that it is getting increasingly difficult to cast to Chromecast from my iPhone (iOS 16.1.2). Most apps still support it, but neither Safari nor Edge or Chrome allow me to cast a video to Chromecast, only to Airplay. I don’t cast so much, so this may have been so for a while, but I’m wondering: is Apple making it more difficult for developers to have their app support Chromecast or how can we understand that not even Chrome can cast to Chromecast?

No sound when cast Google Photos to Chromecast using iPhone?

Problem: when I cast a video from Google Photos to Chromecast using my iPhone, I see that only the image of the video is cast to TV, the TV has no sound and the frame is lag, the sound remain on my iPhone, but if I press home on my iPhone, then the casting to my TV stopped. Then I try using Google Photos on my friend's Samsung Android to cast a video, and it works perfectly. I see that this problem exists since 2018, many has complained: - No sound when I cast videos from the Google Photos app to my TV, audio only plays from my phone. - No sound when casting Google photos to tv. All other apps like Spotify and youtube works fine . - iOS Photos App, Cloud-Only Video to Chromecast (2&3): No Sound from TV, only iOS device This is the end of 2020 and it's still not fixed. So I don't expect Google will fix this on iPhone. Some user said > When a local copy exists on iOS device, the picture quality on the TV > is noticeably better than that of cloud-only videos. This suggests to > me that the app is streaming the local version of the video, when > available, directly from the iOS device to the Chromecast. When a > local copy is not available, it's clearly using a different process to > cast the cloud-only video, and that's where the issue is. While this > may make perfect sense on an Android, Photos app for iOS is billed as > a cloud service. So beside having a local copy exists on iOS device, is there other way? Or I guess I'll just buy a Samsung Android to cast Google Photos video.

I know that Xiaomi Mi SmartTV has Chromecast incorporated but I think that would only work with Google Chrome's "cast" feature. I want to transmit the screen of my MacBook to these TVs so I can work in different apps, documents, code and watch movies. Is there any way to do this without Apple TV?

I have sent several video files to my mom, who has downloaded them onto her iPad. She has the video files saved on her iPad into a directory called "my files". She recently bought a chromecast so that she can play these files on her TV, however all the apps she has tried only allow her to select files from the camera roll, and not the video files she has downloaded. - Is there an app that will allow her to cast video files from locations other than the camera roll? - If not, is there a way to move the downloaded files into the camera roll? She has tried an app that mirrors her screen to the TV but the quality is really bad, and the differences in aspect ratio make it so that you can't go fullscreen.

However, it seems like an odd omission when Adult Swim's sister app *Cartoon Network* was recently updated to add Chromecast support.

I just installed the Chromecast app on my iPad (2). The iPad is running 6.1.3 (or whatever; it says it's up-to-date). I've also got a Chromecast that works fine from my Android phone, my Nexus 7 tablet, and all the computers in my house that I've tried (except Linux machines of course). The Chromecast app tries to find local devices, but apparently it cannot find mine. I've only got one domain in my house, and everything's on the same one. Neither the iPad app nor the Chromecast itself seem to offer any clear way to figure out what's wrong. So: is there something dumb I'm missing? Unfortunately I don't have any other iOS devices from which to try this. The iPad is otherwise unremarkable and seems to be able to do anything else it's asked to do. *edit* — for what it's worth, I also can't get either YouTube or Netflix (the apps) to think that the Chromecast exists.

Is there away to stream music from iPad to chromecast via AirPlay?
Obviously there is not native support for that. But I wonder if there are any hacks to do that. Or if there are not solutions yet is it technically possible, does apple and google expose API which could make this work?
