I'm unfamiliar with classic Mac OS, and I wanted to make Finder easier to reach, so I moved it to the desktop. I didn't realize that this would make Finder inaccessible to the system! Since then, my computer won't boot into Mac OS. Instead, it shows the Finder logo and a question mark, which makes sense considering. What's the best way to move finder back where it belongs so I can boot into Mac OS? I had the idea that I could try to boot to a Mac OS 9 install image and access my hard drive that way. I have a MacBook Pro from 2020 and a USB stick, but I don't have a CD burner. I haven't had any luck trying to boot from the live USB.

Transfer PDF from iPad to Mac without Internet

I did actually send by email, thinking sync would let me pull it from the Drafts (unsent) in Mail. Alas, Apple has decided there's no longer any value in syncing Mail. I do already have two such explorer apps, but one announces it is not compatible with IOS 8, and the other does nothing when I select "mount device."

So this morning, I wanted to check: when did I read the book until... was it 9pm or was it 11pm? Also, I hope to perhaps in the future, find out, in year 2022, which books did I finish. (so it'd be nice if it can show the books finished sorted by date). Is it possible to show the finish date and time of an iBook, and be able to see the list sorted by date and time?

Or by Recent, or any other remotely logical system I can identify.

There has been no dialogue to, for example, start the system restore. I have no experience with apple products of this age. Is this the usual experience? Is something going wrong? It has been like this for probably half an hour at least. I inserted the disc while logged in and started the Install OS X programme which restarted the computer. I had previously inserted the disc and help the C key to start it but encountered the same thing.

I have recently acquired an iBook G4 to run a specific software for research. The iBook currently has Leopard installed but the software I want to run doesn't work since the iBook doesn't have the classic environment. Because of this, I'm trying to downgrade to Tiger or Panther but I don't have installation disks. I have been trying to follow the USB stick methods but these aren't working. The iBook doesn't show the USB when you boot holding the option key. I'm not sure if this means there is some problem with the disk image I'm using. I have tried .dmg and .iso. Is there some recommended place to download the disk images? Is it even possible to install these older systems using this method?

Is it safe to still use an iBook G4 on Wi-Fi?
I have recently bought an iBook to run a specific software. The machine is still pretty good but I was chatting with someone and they recommended not connecting it to Wi-Fi. Is there an issue with doing this? Is it unsafe for some reason?

There are books that I cannot obtain in the bookstore or amazon prime. For those books I'd like to be able to access them wherever I am (from all my devices, even if I get a new mac book). I also wish to be able to save all the notes in them and have that accessible. I assume one would new to sync in the cloud. Is this possible? I see the pdfs are in my computer's readers but I cannot have them sync between devices like, say, mendeley or evernote would. kindle isn't important. **What is important is that my pdfs are available everywhere.** Ideally backup with annotations. That doesn't seem to work on either. Thats the crux of my question. Which app is mostly irrelevant. Note that I strongly prefer to have have it work on 1) kindle or 2)iBooks in that order if possible but if it works on either that would be fantastic. ---- related: - https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/49831/syncing-non-amazon-purchased-ebooks-between-kindle-ipad-and-iphone

On a MacBook Pro (MBP) with the latest MacOS, iTunes and iBooks (and everything else) are also on the same Apple ID. On all three, iCloud is set to store all the books. Yet when an eBook or PDF is added on the MBP, it seems to be random whether it will appear on one iPad, both, or neither. And when syncing, iTunes won’t show some of the books as existing in the library to be synced. What is going on and how do I fix it?

I'm using an old iBook G4 (PowerPC) running Tiger to serve iTunes to the house. For the past week or so, the mac boots fine, and then sometime during the day starts generating An unexpected error occurred (error code -50). errors when iTunes attempts to save its library file. Checking reveals that the boot drive (main drive, in the laptop) behaves as if it is write-protected - I get the same error code when I attempt to create a folder on the desktop, for instance. If I attempt to create files via the terminal, e.g. via ls > foo.txt I get an "invalid argument" error. I've set the iBook to run in Target Disk Mode and run Disk Utility to repair the disk (from a Macbook running Snow Leopard) and get "The volume appears to be ok". I don't have the option in Disk Utility to Repair Permissions in Target Disk Mode. When I ran Repair Permissions on the iBook itself, it came back with no errors, no permissions corrected, but did not in fact fix the problem. Rebooting always solve the problem - for the next 5-10 hours or so. Would Disk Warrior help, or some other software fix, or is it time to buy a new drive? (And, in any case, what's going wrong?)
