Recovering old package from Macports - archived somewhere?

I was in the process of working through how to get the local web-server version of Joplin 3 (based on the mobile version) compiled on macOS 10.13 High Sierra (because the GUI absolutely will not, being dependent on features that didn't exist until later OS versions), and writing up a detailed tutorial on the process. The only way to do this is with Node.js 21, because 22 and later are inoperable on macOS 10.13. Can't use Homebrew for this. MacPorts handily provided Node 21 and the ICU 74 it depends on. Then I needed to reinstall Node 21 for some reason or other (stopped running due to some library being upgraded and the old one removed). THIS VERY WEEK, MacPorts decided to delete Node 21 from its offerings, right out from under me, and forces an upgrade to 22, which won't compile on my OS. So, all this work for nothing. Is there some repo somewhere with older MacPorts packages that they no longer want to provide support for? It seems unlikely to me that the package I need has disappeared off the entire Internet forever. Trying to do something like sudo port upgrade --enforce-variants nodejs21@21.7.3 fails; it just forcibly tries to install @22.whatever anyway.

I need to downgrade from Mojave to High Sierra but am not sure if I can safely erase the HDD in order to install the new OS. I'm aware that I can create an installer on a USB drive for High Sierra or I can reinstall the version of Mac OS that the machine came with using Internet Recovery mode. Regardless, I know that I'll need to erase the HDD. I was about to do so but it gave a warning message that erasing the HDD will also erase partition disk0s2 and I'm not sure what that partition is for. Inputting diskutil list into terminal outputs the following: enter image description here After downgrading to HS, I will move over files that I need from the a time machine backup I created on Mojave. I’m aware that I can’t install the whole backup from time machine as the backup was taken on Mojave. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to create bootable drives for various versions of Mac OS. In particular, I would like to create an installer for the original version of Sonoma (14.0). However, I do not see this version listed at this site: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102662 I also don't see it available in the downloads on the developer page. Is there an official source for acquiring 14.0? PS: I found https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/309399/how-can-i-download-an-older-version-of-os-x-macos , and this is useful and contains some older versions of Sonoma, but not 14.0. I strongly feel that at some point in history, there was a page or API you could access through the developer site that allowed downloading any OS version. I remember visiting this site 2 to 3 years ago, but I can't find it anymore.

I need to install Ventura to a second partition while on Sonoma. My current environment restricts me to a Mac and internet access (no suitable USB drive). I have downloaded the installer from the App Store. However, when I try to start it, there's an error "This installer cannot be used on your macOS version" with a link to Apple's Support article [Create a bootable installer for macOS](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372) . I don't have a drive, so this is pretty much useless. The question is: can I force-start the installer? The only feature I need is to install macOS on an existing partition. Maybe there's a patched version to use?

I'm considering downgrading it back to its original OS, which was Snow Leopard. I bought Lion from the App Store when it came out, but I can't find it now, only Mountain Lion and Yosemite. - What would be the ideal OS X for this machine? - If it is Lion, how would I go about getting another copy, given that I've bought one once already? - What if I upgraded the memory to 4GB? (But installing new memory requires opening the machine up, which is not so easy.)

Macbook Air (mid 2012) Efi Firmware Downgrade –to original

I want to bring back my beloved Macbook Air 2012 (MBA5,2) to its 'original firmware'. I have identified the file as MBA51_00EF_B01.scap, which I extracted using unpkg over the downloadable offered by Apple here: MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.5 . That version allows one to install OSX 10.7.4, which is the (oldest) OS that shipped with this machine. That will allow me to reactive an old M-Audio sound interface that only works with Lion OSX. But also to experience and use this hardware performing the lightest, for I mainly use it as a working station with vintage software. Presently I have Mountain Lion (10.8.4) installed, but once I had El Capitan which upgraded me to BootROM MBA51.00EF.B04 and SMC 2.5f9. I managed to downgrade the SMC firmware to version 2.5f7, which is compatible with 10.7.4–I used rEFIt and SmcFlasher.efi for it. But Bootrom remains MBA51.00EF.B04. I followed this guide and ran the following command in the Terminal: /usr/sbin/bless -mount / -firmware "MBA51_00EF_B01.scap" --recovery --verbose Firmware preloads successfully. But when I reboot to start the installation a black screen remains during three continuous fast reboots (I guess trying to install the new firmware). Then it boots normally and no firmware downgrade happened. Any idea why this is happening? Are there any other methods to load the BootROM, supposing that it is just being refused by "bless" for being older that the installed one? Hope this contributes and appeals to those willing to revive the past. ----- UPDATE 30/07/19 ----- Still trying to downgrade firmware in MBA mid2012. Normal method via 'bless' command and extracted .scap didn't work. I just get a longer black screen and no firmware update, like to someone here and here (with the same model). I presume apple introduced the iOS policy of no-return in newer firmwares? An alternative way would be to inject the older firmware with 'flashrom' over linux , but I don't have another MBA with original firmware from where to extract it. Someone uploaded a similar dump here . But it is for MBA2012 11" i7, mine is MBA2012 13" i5. I guess the firmware is the same, but double risk to brick it.

I was hoping to get a second life out a set of 2012 MacBook Pros (MacBook Pro 9.1, A1286, MD104) using Linux or booting into Windows for retro activities. However, later versions of the firmware (installed during Mojave and later) remove older, more-compatible hardware modes. This prevents things like Ethernet from working correctly in non-MacOS OSes. I'm hoping to find a way to downgrade the Firmware from 233.0.0.0 -> 00DA B00 or to the originally shipped firmware. Anybody have a procedure to restore the original firmware? In the absence of that, anybody have a copy of the original firmware? I'm not opposed to hexediting images and reprogramming the firmware (on or off the board). I was hoping to find a set of older firmware on my various MBP9,1s but they are all the newer firmware.

I have a MacBook Pro 6,2. Some time ago (1,5 year I guess) I have installed latest Mountain Lion upgrade and my WiFi stopped working in that I get an error connecting to several different networks. http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/clean-install-mountain-lion/ To solve this I hoped upgrades would help, so I did upgrades to Mavericks and Yosemite but no success with Wi-Fi. I have small TLink wifi dongle and managed to make it working via Wireless Network Utility but the dongle has weak antena so MBP went to the cupboard for some time. Recently I decided to install fresh Mountain Lion again hoping that maybe old software will help. I noticed that if I reset the SMC nadn NVRAM, AirPort connects and works for several minutes and then stops again. I have the idea to downgrade to the previous firmware version hoping it will sove the issue. The version I currently have is EFI: MBP61.0057.B11 (2015-002) and SMC: 1.58f17 (SMC 1.7). I have found this: https://support.apple.com/pl-pl/HT201518 but it says only what is the latest version. I'm looking for the previous one. Is it possible that the firware update has broken my Wifi ? Could anybody suggest a site where can I find list of SMC and EFI software versions proper for my MBP6.2?

I can't find a disk to select to install OS X in Internet Recovery Mode. Also I can not erase the disk or partition. I gave all the details. Two days ago I decided to do a clean wipe on my MacBook Pro with factory SSD and Mountain Lion. I not able to reinstall the fresh OS X Mountain Lion from Internet recovery because the drive to select wont show up when you have to pick where to install the OS X in Disk Utility. If I try to erase the original disk start up it just hangs and says it's partitioning. I gave a detailed description from start to now on what is happening can anyone help? I believe it has to be fixed some how in terminal. First I went into my local recovery of High Sierra and did an erase of the disk. Then I did an Internet Recovery and erased the disk0s2 partition. (Everything went good) After that I did an erase for the main disk start up 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media. (Which got stuck or my internet crashed) I quit disk utility. Then I got back in Internet Recovery and again I tried to erase the disk start up 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media. (This time on the bottom right corner where it shows a progress bar it starts out with and stays in Partitioning. Estimated time less than 1 minute but it never progresses and the time keeps growing I tried leaving it for over 12 hours and a few other attempts no luck). I checked my system with the quick AHT and everything is fine got no issues. Did the test a few times. I think I will have to do something in terminal. I believe the drives are getting confused with some sort of formatting issues. Below I have stated what exactly happens and all the options I have available in Disk Utility. When I restart and go into internet recovery mode. disk0s2 partition always comes back but is grayed out. If I click on it all buttons are grayed out as well cant do anything other than erase. When I erase it I get this error: Volume Erase Failed. Volume Erase failed with error: MediaKit reports bad partition or no map found. After trying to Erase disk0s2 partition if I try to erase the main disk start up 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media I always get the same issue where in the right bottom corner it shows the progress that it is Partitioning. Estimated time less....and the time keeps climbing slowly till it hangs. Now after if I have attempted to erase the main disk 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media. Things change than they are at first from without having any erase attempts. After the attempts the fix buttons get grayed out with the 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media. Before any erase attempts on partition tab on main disk I am able to verify disk it says everything is good and partition is ok. When I try to click repair disk it says Error: Couldn't repair the partition map...EFI system partition could not be created. I can open the partition tab and see disk0s2 but everything is grayed out but keeping in mind if I try to erase the disk0s2 or 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media the partition tab becomes empty where I can created another partition but it never happens and gets stuck in the progress bar in the right corner says waiting for partition to reappear. This is what 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media bottom before I try to erase. Do remember that under this disk its the partition disk0s2 which is grayed out but if I try to erase it disappears unless I restart and get back into Internet Recovery. Disk Description : APPLE SSD SD512E Media Total Capacity : 500.28 GB (500,277,790,720 Bytes) Connection Bus : SATA Write Status : Read/Write Type and Location : Solid State Disk, Internal S.M.A.R.T. Status : Verified Partition Map Scheme : GUID Partition Table 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media bottom after I try to erase. You can see how the Partition Map Scheme chages but this is after I try to erase and cancle where it gets stuck in Partitioning. Estimated....time. Status : Verified Partition Map Scheme : Unformatted All I need is help on how to get a disk to pick out to put Mountain Lion on. Right now it shows nothing and the install button is grayed out. Does it have something to with the sizes of the partitions not matching up to the total amount I have available? This is what diskutil list looks like. I am not very tech-savvy but this is all the information I can offer. I don't understand why I have so many partitions when in Disk Utility all I see is 500.28 GB Apple SSD SD512E Media and under it disk0s2 which is grayed out. -bash-3.2# diskutil list /dev/disk0 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *500.3 GB disk0 1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1 2: 7C3457EF-0000-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC 500.1 GB disk0s2 /dev/disk1 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: Apple_partition_scheme *1.2 GB disk1 1: Apple_partition_map 30.7 KB disk1s1 2: Apple_HFS Mac OS X Base System 1.2 GB disk1s2 /dev/disk2 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk2 /dev/disk3 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk3 /dev/disk4 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk4 /dev/disk5 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk5 /dev/disk6 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk6 /dev/disk7 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *6.3 MB disk7 /dev/disk8 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *2.1 MB disk8 /dev/disk9 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *1.0 MB disk9 /dev/disk10 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk10 /dev/disk11 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *524.3 KB disk11 /dev/disk12 #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: untitled *1.0 MB disk12

Can I downgrade the 2020 13" MacBook Pro to run macOS Mojave? This is the Model Id=MacBookPro16,2 - with Quad-Core Intel Core i7 of 2.3 GHz; sold in Europe in July 2020, that comes with Catalina pre-installed. Unfortunately, many of my legacy software (in 32-bit) cannot be made to run under 64-bit. Some of my hardware relies on 32-bit software. Are there hardware components in the 2020 models, which are NOT supported in previous? If one can downgrade, would that work with a time-machine backup? or would one need a complete re-install after erasing and re-formatting the disks, from a Mojave.ova file?
