Given a text with a link inside:

Prior to iOS 13, i could long press a word that was not part of the URL to select the word, then drag the finger over a word in the URL to select only that word of the URL, without opening the URL.
In iOS 13 this is not possible anymore. When dragging the selection of a single word, the selection gets extended with additional words.
How can I select a single word in a URL to copy the word without opening the URL?

There are [various](http://www.iphonehacks.com/2011/11/how-to-create-custom-home-screen-shortcuts-for-settings-toggles-without-jailbreaking.html) [pages](http://www.idownloadblog.com/2011/11/11/how-to-create-custom-shortcuts-to-wifi-settings-airplane-mode-and-more-no-jailbreak-required/) on the web that have a list of some of the URLs, but these pages all seem to provide the same subset, and I know there is [at least one shortcut](http://www.idownloadblog.com/2011/11/11/how-to-create-custom-shortcuts-to-wifi-settings-airplane-mode-and-more-no-jailbreak-required/#comment-361963429) that's not included. In fact, I'd imagine that *every* page in Settings will have it's own URL.
Can anyone provide the complete list of URLs for the Settings app?

Allowing HTTP links from localhost to local files in Safari

I have a Laravel view (hosted locally on my machine via Herd) that contains about 1,500 images, each with some text. The images are smaller, reduced-size thumbnails of original files; the thumbnails are stored in the Github project folder (taking up about 150 MB in total), but the original files (about 85 GB) are not.
Each thumbnail is a link to the original file on disk: ``. The objective is to be able to open the full-size image in a new tab simply by clicking the link. Most of the original files are TIFF, and since [Chrome and Firefox don’t support TIFF](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_web_browsers#Image_format_support) (the file is downloaded instead of displayed), Safari is the only viable option for what I want.
By default, the when hovering over a link, the hand cursor is shown and the target URL is displayed in the little hover element bottom left, but clicking the link does nothing, and there are no _Open_ options in the context menu.
Disabling cross-origin restrictions in _Preferences_ > _Developer_ > _Security_ makes the _Open_ options appear, but:
1. As far as I can tell, this disables **all** cross-origin restrictions, for **every** file and request type on every domain – massive security risk that I don’t really want to take
2. Right-clicking and choosing _Open link in new tab_ now works, but just clicking still doesn’t – it reloads the page with a message that, “This page was reloaded because a problem occurred” (not sure if this is a bug or due to something else).
So what I’m looking for is something that will allow me to:
- Allow links to local files from web pages, but _only_ locally hosted web pages (i.e., hosted under
localhost
or *.test
)
- Enable me to regular-click on such links and actually open the target file
**Is this currently possible in Safari?**

Is there a bug on safari or some option that stops params from being shared?
Currently this happens on: software version 15.4

How to make deep links to iOS settings for reminders, without passing them through a shortcut?

Right now I have a reminder in the Reminders app with a URL attached, that passes in this deep link:
prefs:root=DO_NOT_DISTURB
\* to the do not disturb section in the settings app, to a shortcut so the shortcut can open it: shortcuts://run-shortcut?name=Set%20Do%20Not%20Disturb&input=text&text=prefs:root=DO_NOT_DISTURB
. Here's a sample shortcut to show it: [https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/835b819d24c14386b8f6e072d034e3b3](https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/835b819d24c14386b8f6e072d034e3b3) . The shortcut actions for doing so are in the photo below. I want a URL that can take me to the section in the Settings app directly from the reminder without having to pass it through a shortcut first.
I tried variations of URLs like prefs://root=DO_NOT_DISTURB
, prefs://=DO_NOT_DISTURB
, prefs://?root=DO_NOT_DISTURB
, and prefs://DO_NOT_DISTURB
from this page but they didn't work: [https://github.com/bhagyas/app-urls?tab=readme-ov-file#settingsapp-preferences](https://github.com/bhagyas/app-urls?tab=readme-ov-file#settingsapp-preferences) .
\* There's a whole list of settings deep links if you want to see: [https://github.com/FifiTheBulldog/ios-settings-urls/](https://github.com/FifiTheBulldog/ios-settings-urls/)
**(I took these screenshots on macOS but the link and shortcut only works on iOS)**

Like many former Mint users who had to transition to Credit Karma, I am frustrated by how many steps it takes to get to the data I want to see. Recently Credit Karma sent me a promotional e-mail with a button that took me directly to the Transactions page in the app. I would like to make an icon on my iOS home screen that does the same.
I extracted the URL from the e-mail. It is:
https://www.creditkarma.com/u/networth/transactions
When I click on this in iOS, it takes me directly to the Transactions page in the app, as I hoped .
To create an iOS home screen icon for a website, you need to open the website in Safari, but the first challenge was that when I opened the above URL in Safari, it redirected to the Intuit login page instead and that page did not seem to have the ability to open the app.
I found that if I turned on Airplane mode , I could open the link in Safari (it would not load, obviously, but neither would it redirect). When I created a Home Screen icon from that, it **almost** works: it takes me to an Intuit login page with the following banner offering to open the app:
When I click "Open" I am taken to the Transactions page, which is what I want, but is not the same one-click behavior I got from the original link.
So my question is, can anyone suggest a way to get this to work in one click?
**Footnotes:**
Clarification: it may take me to the login page the first time, but once I click the "Open" then subsequent clicks will take me directly to the app. The icon, however, always requires the extra step of visiting the login page.
The following question seems to suggest the same workaround https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15883736/how-to-have-a-custom-url-for-an-icon-on-the-ios-home-screen . They also suggest an "iPhone Configuration Utility", but I can't find a link to that anywhere!

When opening a Zoom link in Safari, I'm typically prompted to allow Safari to open the Zoom app. Recently, with Safari 17, there's now an option to "Always Allow" Safari to open Zoom to handle links of this type, which I clicked.
However, I would now like to rescind that "Always Allow" permission and go back to having Safari ask me every time.
The reason is that I need to frequently switch Zoom accounts between two different SSO-enabled logins, and as soon as I try to switch accounts, Zoom opens Safari, which quickly logs me in to the account I'm trying to log *out* of, and then Safari re-launches Zoom with me logged back into the account I'm trying to leave. This makes it very difficult for me to switch accounts.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Zoom, I've manually edited
com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
in Xcode to remove any entries associated with Zoom, but neither step has fixed the issue. If I change my default browser to Firefox, then I am once again prompted. I suspect that Safari is using some OS-wide settings whereas Firefox probably maintains its own link of what to do with various URI's.

Please let me know if there is any solution.
I greatly appreciate the help thanks
Perhaps if this isn't possible is there a workaround using the shortcuts app?

http
pages to https
, even though some don't work over https
. Although I've since corrected this, Safari seems to have memorised the redirect and is refusing to forget it, instead constantly attempting to redirect me to the invalid https
address.
I've already closed Safari, cleared ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/
and ~/Library/Cookies/HSTS.plist
but it still seems to be remembering the redirect when I re-open it.
Where else could Safari be storing this information? I can access the correct page via Firefox or Chrome, so it may not be a system wide service, or if it is it's not one that the other browsers use.
Unfortunately because the web-panel is provided by a device I don't believe I can adjust headers or setup a redirect back to the correct URL, which seem to be options offered in other similar questions, so I really need to find out where this data is being stored so I can destroy it with fire.

I'd like to keep reading the email and open all links behind Mail, then switch to my browser and read the links later.
I'm aware of right clicking a link and selecting "Open Link Behind Mail", and I know of the "command-click" method to achieve that. But I want that to be the default behavior, so I don't have to do any extra clicking, I just want the links to **always** open in the background. How do I set it to do that?

An example for such an URL is
file:///Users/username/Library/Mobile%20Documents/com~apple~Keynote/Documents/hgs%20demo.key
, that points in fact to a file on iCloud.
Now, when I click on such a link from say TextEdit (but also other software like in the notes section of a task in OmniFocus), nothing happens anymore. When I paste it into the URL field of a browser, the file does open however.
Is there a way on macOS to set applications that open certain kinds of URLs?
For example, OmniFocus ["knows" / is associated with](https://inside.omnifocus.com/url-schemes)
omnifocus:///...`
→ Can I tell the Finder (or Path Finder) to be associated with file:///...
(such that it would open a window with the associated path)? Or how can I re-enforce this association?
Thanks for your help.
