My Intel iMac is literally dying (strong fans) when I play YouTube videos with HDR. Alas, YouTube interface doesn't allow to choose a video without HDR (all resolution in the menu have HDR). But, when I play the same video on my old iPad, it clearly doesn't show the HDR version of the video. So YouTube has a non HDR version for all resolutions (this can also be shown with the
yt-dlp
command line, see https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp) .
How to force YouTube on Safari on Mac to disable the HDR? Or how to kill the Safari ability to display HDR videos? I haven't seen nothing on the Develop menu on Safari (go to the Advanced settings of Safari to activate this menu). But perhaps there is a solution with a customised User Agent? If I choose Safari on iPhone as the User Agent in the Develop menu, the video is less choppy, but I'm unable to change the resolution (which is low).
Context: I know that haven more than 250 tabs opened on Safari doesn't help, but I don't own a computer for using it as a toy, and I have a lot of memory on my Intel iMac. If I haven't closed these tabs, it's because all have useful informations in it, and I currently need to quick access to these informations. So, with all these tabs opened, a 4K HDR video on YouTube nearly kills my iMac (all is slow when the video is played, for example, the clock on the menu bar, with the seconds which aren't updated all seconds).

From the YouTube website on macOS using Chrome, I used to be able to play videos directly on the Roku connected and other stream on my home network. Roku has the YouTube app installed. There was a button looking like this:
The casting button no longer seems to exist.
On my iPhone, running YouTube, the casting button still exists, and I am able to see multiple devices include my Roku.
Has this feature been removed from the YouTube website running on macOS.

Every once in a while, for no discernible difference in my actions, I will have started playing a video on YouTube and then return to the Home Screen or a different app, and the PIP player never loads. The video's audio continues playing and the app context is present in the Dynamic Island (the YouTube icon and animated waveform representation are present). If I pop back to YouTube, and then leave it again, the PIP player always loads from what I remember.
This is obviously some sort of small-time bug, but why does it happen? Is it possible to "dismiss" the PIP player, more than just sliding it into the edge of the screen? Can I specifically control the dismissal and re-invocation of the PIP player?
I know that I can make it almost as wide as the screen, or about 1/3rd of the width by double tapping the player, as well as positioning it into the corners via swiping, and pushing it over the edge so there is only a tab allowing me to recall it; But can I dismiss the player's visual presence entirely but continue playback consistently?

The option to turn off restricted mode on YouTube on my personal iPad is grayed out and it says that it is turned on by "the network administrator", but I'm using my personal network.
I have searched for ann answer on YouTube and I've Googled possible fixes to this for days, but I have found nothing.
Additional steps I have taken are:
- Going into the network settings on the iPad for my personal network, deleting the automatically created DNS servers and adding
8.8.8.8
and 8.8.4.4
(Google's DNS service) as my DNS servers.
- Checked if anything has changed in the content restriction settings on my personal network (Xfinity). Nothing had changed and no content restrictions have been set to my knowledge.
- Factory reset the iPad and erased all settings. This allowed restricted mode to be turned off by default for a while, then it automatically turned on again.
- No other devices that I use on my personal network have this issue, just my iPad.
- Tried connecting to my phone’s mobile hotspot. Same issue.

I will preface this by stating that I'm not a nut. There's a very strange phenomenon that's been happening on my iPad Pro 2017 over the past 5 months that's mildly annoying and somewhat alarming.
Right before bedtime every night, I prop my iPad on it's stand located on my bedside table. Occasionally, I'll doze off while laying on my side while watching a video playing through the YouTube iOS app. My iPad goes to sleep within a minute after the video ends. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
Without fail, however, if I turn around and lay on my other side facing away from the screen, the video will stop playing and the iPad sleeps within less than a minute. I usually turn around and wake the iPad and hit the play button and the video continues where it last stopped.
I can emphatically say it never happens when I'm facing my iPad, or at least I can't recall it ever happening. Usually, I'll turn the brightness all the way down and roll over to my other side and try listening myself to sleep. I figured the brightness level might be a factor. It's inconclusive, however, as I often leave the brightness level very low when the room is dark.
I tried to come up with some possible explanations for this. Perhaps the iPad sleeps when it senses someone is not near the device to save energy? Possibly, but it would make playing music in the background impossible. Could YouTube's App be the culprit? Could it be a feature where it prevents users from using YouTube as a stereo due to licensing arrangements, or with an aim to upsell you their premium service? YouTube does prevent playing in the background and PiP, but it might require hardware access it doesn't have. Could it be a defective iPad or some strange setting? Sure, some other nefarious reasons entered my mind, but I figured I'll exhaust other possibilities first.

I would like to do it on the YouTube app on an iPad.
I found a mention of admin.google.com that allows to do that, but it is apparently intended for organisations.
Does then iPadOS YouTube app allow for content blocking in general or If I sign in to the app with a YouTube account or subscription?

On iOS, while watching a video in YouTube app, when I go to the Home Screen, the video stops playing. I found no setting to enable it. I know it is available for Android, but is there a way to do so in iOS? Is there any setting, or a 3rd party app that I can use?

I used to watch YouTube videos in a restaurant, and was able to see it in the history when I get home on the MacBook, and watch it again.
For example, I may get a notification on my iPhone, felt interested, and watch it for 5 or 20 seconds. But since the restaurant is too noisy, so I just stop the video and go home and watch it there.
However, today I found even if it is the same account on the iPhone YouTube app and on the Mac's Google Chrome, the history will not transfer from the phone to the Mac.
In fact, the history won't even show on my iPhone's YouTube app history.
I tried to turn off the history of YouTube and turn it back on again, and it won't work.
How do I make it work?

I have recently started to watch quite a lot of YouTube videos on battery, and would notice that battery will drain faster as I binge watch.
I have noticed the following happening,
In normal circumstances, a 1080p30 video playing with VP9 in Chrome with M1 Pro in Activity Monitor for CPU usage
around 25% Google Chrome Helper (Renderer) and 0% GPU usage\
around 40% WindowServer and 30% GPU\
around 10% Google Chrome Helper (GPU) and 20% GPU
After a while (1h or so) however, one of the Chrome processes will creep up near 100% CPU and battery consumption / heat significantly increases.
The way to get around it is to terminate the process in the Activity Monitor and everything returns to normal for a bit.
I have tried to switch between 'Default' and 'Enabled' in flags for various hardware decoding modes but it does not make a different.
Any ideas?

Case in point: This randomly chosen livestream : will show me a chat immediately in Safari on my iPads and iPhone, all running iOS 17.0.3. But if I open it by any means in YouTube (meaning via subscriptions page, notifications, et cetera - method makes no difference) or on Chrome iOS or iPadOS, no chat appears. I believe, but cannot currently verify, that the chat will appear on macOS 16/17 Chrome. (Not at home, so cannot check. Will update question Wednesday if not answered.)
Is there a setting I can use to enable chat for replays (especially in YouTube app)?
