"batch" removal of EXIF MPF data on Android phone before uploading to Google Photos

My Canon camera sets MPF in its EXIF data on and if there is a way to stop it, I can not find it.
This results in Google Photos saving the pictures in Original quality even though Storage Saver option is on - a known problem with Google Photos as discussed here .
At home I copy the camera pictures to my Linux PC and run a script to remove the MPF setting from a whole directory of photos in one shot. This allows the pictures to be backed up to Google Photos in Storage Saver as desired.
On travel, I back the camera photos up to my Pixel 6 phone using an OTG cable. I would like to have a way to remove the MPF setting similarly to what I do at home so that I could upload to Google Photos from my phone without blowing up my storage.
I have tried the app *EXIF/XMP Tool* and it does successfully remove the MPF setting. But in this app, I must open each photo one at at time and do the operation. If you take hundreds of pictures in a day, this is not workable. I seek a "batch" solution.
Is there a way on an Android phone to "batch modify" EXIF/MPF settings from many photos at once?

Changed EXIF dates and file attributes are not recognized on Android

I inserted this SD card back into Samsung Android phone and opened Google Photos app, the photos were still being showed wrongly at the end of timeline, in the year 2000. I cleaned cache of the app (Google photos and Gallery Go) and it didn't help.
I also saw that images on which I changed EXIF dates had prefix in their file names, something like
Is it possible somehow Android has cached metadata of those files and perhaps even stores them hidden somewhere (hence that extra prefix in filename), and refuses to show metadata of newly modified files?
DateTime
, DateTimeOriginal
, DateTimeDigitized
. I also changed File created
, File modified
date from the EXIF tag by using BulkFileChanger , so it shows the correct year in file system.
I used TeraCopy to copy modified files onto SD card and used Transfer: Data, Timestamps, Attributes, Streams
+ Transfer options were set to "Verify files after transfer
".

, and are stored in storage/01D0-A640/DCIM/folder/~~adt00000416~~DSC03040.JPG
.
I moved those files again from Windows to SD card but with TeraCopy Streams
and Attributes
disabled, but it didn't solve the issue on Android. File dates were showing correctly on the SD card (checked via irfanview exif info and file explorer) though and incorrect dates are nowhere to be seen.

Is time in Exif or other metadata in a Nexus 5x video?
I have some MP4 videos taken with a Nexus 5x. I no longer have that device. Which of the Exif or XMP or the metadata (if any) contains time in UTC that the video started or ended? I'm trying to get them in chronological order with all the still pictures I took.

I have a Blackview A60Pro running Android 9.
Location is enabled (Settings -> Security & location -> Location is "On")
The Camera app has all the permissions it requests, including Location (both "access approximate location (network-based)" and "access precise location (GPS and network-based)")
Location is enabled in the Camera app settings.
I read this question and downloaded My GPS location to make sure I have a GPS fix before taking pictures.
But the resulting JPEG files don't have any location information in the EXIF data. **What am I missing?**

Everything went fine, but today I discovered that the date of all the copied photos and videos was set to yesterday. " class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy">
Luckily, the date and time is still preserved in the filenames. Right now, I want to restore the photos' and videos' date using their filenames.
I'm interested in a way to do so. I don't really care whether it's by using an app or script or something else.
I'm aware of the fact that I can copy the files from my computer to the phone again using a different protocol, but that is not what I'm looking for.

Nearly every picture taken by my Android phone has a comment added "dav" in the metadata. I'd like to understand why and if possible stop the comments from being added. They appear to be in EXIF and some other metadata field.
Images taken with fast shutter [hold down shutter release to take a series of images, used for action shots] have the letters "bst" added instead of "dav".
The phone is a Huawei Honor5C (NEM-L51) running Android 6 and EMUI 4.1. I download the photos using Digikam on Kubuntu to my desktop. Even when I strip the "dav" comments from the EXIF comment field, when I upload to Facebook the "dav" comment is read and appears attached to the images; the actual text is in the
XMP:Caption
, EXIF:Image Description
, and IPTC:Comment
metadata fields.
It's strange, unwanted, and annoying.
Update: On further investigation, opening in gwenview
and looking at metadata, the strings "dav" and "bst" arrive with images via EXIF:Image Description
and digikam had been set to harmonise that with other metadata sections. So it's less mysterious, just one EXIF field is being written.

I know there are a lot of software that can change EXIF data *after* photo taken, what I'm looking for is a tweak that permanently changes selected EXIF tags at shooting time.

I've just noticed that on my *Wileyfox Swift* there's something strange going on with image orientation:
* taking a landscape image, everything is fine: the resulting JPG is in landscape, and Exif has
Orientation:0
– as one would expect.
* taking a portrait image however also has Orientation:0
, and the resulting JPG is in portrait – while on all my other devices, the JPG would remain landscape but have e.g. Orientation:6
(rotate 270°) in its Exif.
I've tried with multiple camera apps, including the integrated one. Two other camera apps I use on other devices as well, where they work as expected.
What might go on here, and how to fix it up? I need it the "standard way" for post processing scripts etc. Though the results "look the same" in image viewers, the technical details/differences are relevant in my case, so I wish the Wileyfox to adhere to the standards :)

I am creating an app that separates selfies from picture taken with the rear-facing camera. I am not doing this 'in real-time' so I started looking at the EXIF data.
I have compared the standard EXIF data from a picture taken with the rear camera and another taken with the front camera, and the same fields appear in both files and no big difference jump out.
Is there a flag in the file or something similar in the EXIF data between rear and front pictures that could positively determine which camera took the picture?

* On 24 January 2015 the phone was switched on and transferred the pictures via Bluetooth onto my Samsung Galaxy S3. The pictures showed dates from 24 to 28 January 2015. Some pictures had 24, some 26, 27 and 28. The
Exif
file also showed the dates from 24 to 28 January 2015. The original dates in 2011 were missing.
* Samsung South Korea said that if a device is switched off for long, and subsequently switched on and connected to a device (phone/computer) the pictures would take the switch off date.
* But the puzzle is, why do dates vary from 24 to 28 January 2015? Can anyone kindly give answer? This has created a *huge* issue/problem for me.

I would like to know what the difference is between the Tag Buddy and Face tag stock Gallery options (as available on the Samsung Galaxy SIII stock Gallery application).
Also, why is one option activated via a sliding-button and the other one via a check mark as opposed to both looking the same. I guess the only difference is that with the sliding-button one can also click on the text on the left-hand-side of the entry to view more information (in this case some descriptive help information), whereas this behavior is not available when an entry text is followed by a plain checkmark.
I also don't understand, if the Tag Buddy features are all enabled (Weather, Location, Person, and Date), then why can't I view any of these by clicking on the Details menu entry when viewing a picture with the stock Gallery app? Where is the weather information stored, I've installed the [EXIF Tag Editor (Photo)](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teapps.exiftageditor) app, but none of these are showing up in the EXIF info, and if I include a photo note or a sound file to the picture, these aren't showing up there either? Where are these pieces of information stored, and how do I access them and make sure they are copied when the picture is copied to another storage location?
The following screenshot shows these two entries under the Tags heading.
When the Camera app takes a picture:
- The date and time the picture was taken is stored in the picture's EXIF data.
- The GPS coordinates will be stored in the picture's EXIF data (but not the place name) as long as the Location tag's camera setting is set to 'On'.
However, **why is the Tag Buddy feature in the Gallery app instead of in the Camera app?** After all, if I take a picture:
- wouldn't I want the weather information to reflect the time the picture was taken, and not the time the picture was opened in Gallery?
- wouldn't the location information have to be the one corresponding to the GPS coordinates at the time the picture was taken, and not at the time the picture was opened (after all the user of the camera may choose not to store EXIF GPS info in the picture)?
Finally, if Face Buddy is enabled and the list of people is stored somewhere, then **how can I view such list of people as a list stored on the device?**
Thanks for clarifying these issues.

The Samsung Galaxy SIII Neo stock Gallery application has (and other models do too) an option to set a Photo Note when you're viewing a picture. When you select it the picture rotates via some OpenGL animation, and you can scribble on its back. But the space is limited, whereas attaching a note using the virtual keyboard would make it possible to enter a virtually infinite string of characters inside the EXIF data. Beasies the fact that I'm not even sure how to view the scribbled notes (or EXIF data!) once you transfer the picture to the PC (perhaps someone can explain), this feature would be really useful.
Anyone know how I can make use of the feature I'm after?
