I've uploaded some photos to google photos, these photos do not have any location information in their EXIF metadata as my camera didn't have the GPS enabled at the time of capturing images.
Now I want to geotag (add location information) these photos. Since I know the location (GPS coordinates) where these pictures are taken I am looking for an option to geotag them in google photos.
It seems that the google photos app does not have any option to geotag the photos.
Is there any way I can geotag the photos from google photos?

I am trying to find a way to organize picture metadata in my Android phone. By default, it adds location and time data, so that the photos are easily searchable on the phone. I can also tag people and the software recognizes faces and suggests people name.
Unfortunately, it seems that both people name and location data are not available when I donwload the photos on my computer. The metadata should be written in the photos in EXIF, IPTC and/or XMP format, so that other tools on my computer will recognize them.
Also, I can only tag people when the software recognizes that there is a face, and many photos of people are not correctly recognize as such.
Is there some way I can tag and organize pictures, storing the metadata correctly in the photos themselves?

Add meta information to photos?

Is there a decent camera app that will easily let me add a bit of text to my photos and store that text in the image file as EXIF/IPTC/XMP metadata? So far I have tried the stock Samsung camera app, Camera Zoom FX, Camera FV-5 and Catch Notes. I have read descriptions on numerous camera apps, but it seems like all they have to offer are various ways to distort - I mean enhance - your photos. While Catch Notes did offer ways to store your photos along with a description, it did not store the info as meta data inside the photo itself, which means it will be a mess if you ever want to transfer the photos to your computer and expect the data to stay intact.
This seems like a no-brainer that you'd expect to be available in almost every camera app. I mean, we've got the camera and the keyboard in the same device - what's the problem? I just want to be able to take a photo, click on an icon and type "This is a Bohemian Waxwing" and have that description stored inside the JPEG file. I'd even be fine with a gallery app that only let's me add information to already existing photos.

I was in my backyard, taking pictures of the bees on the trees. I got inside and noticed that one of the single take pictures I'd taken on my s10 T-Mobile version had a location tag from Yushu, Qinghai, China. This wasn't an original single take picture, but a screenshot taken from a video. All other files were located in the US. There are some other files that I want to include but are too big, so here's a google drive link to the rest of them.
So, that brings me to the question of whether Samsung sends photos/videos taken on Samsung devices to be processed in China? Is it even possible? Thanks!

Geo/Location tagging a photo when taken from 'lock' screen

I have enabled location / geo-tagging of photos on my phone (Samsung S10+, prior to that, S7 - same results). Photos taken generally record location information as expected. However - if I take advantage of the phone's ability to launch the camera app from the 'lock' screen (that is, without unlocking the phone by PIN/fingerprint/face recognition, etc) then location information is NOT recorded.
I can see how this would be an 'unintended consequence' behavior; if you don't unlock the phone session, then the camera app may be launched in a different 'security context', and in that context, it may not be able to read the internal GPS info. However - I cannot think of any scenario where allowing the camera app from a locked phone to access location information could be a problem, and I'd like to change this behavior if possible. I rely heavily on the 'geo-tagging' information stored in photos and it is quite often a pain to unlock the phone while hiking, etc (fingerprint reader still not exactly perfect, and having to enter PIN when trying to capture a 'scene' not always desirable).
I've tried every setting I can find relating to security and location services, and I've searched high and low for answers. Part of the challenge here is, keywords such as 'lock', 'location', 'camera' etc result in a high number of hits, and 99.9% of people seem to be asking for how to enable location tagging in general, not specifically when the camera is launched from the lock screen.

My phone is a rooted Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) running a 2.2.1-based ROM. Another question touched on this, but I want to do 2 things
1. Be able to take pictures that are not geotagged. According to the referenced post above, "it turns out Froyo made GeoTracking default and unchangeable in Galaxy S". Yay. So, I can either use another camera app that doesn't use geotagging, or some other solution. I may have more options since the phone is rooted. I would prefer not to disable GPS altogether.
2. Clear previous geotag information from my photos, either on the phone or through my desktop computer (Windows XP or Linux).

Background:
In stock (i.e. pure Google with no manufacturer customizations) Android 4.3 using the built-in camera app, I am using the geotagging feature of the camera app.
Description of the problem:
When the geotagging is turned on I don't see any GPS status in the notification bar. Previously when in the camera app on older version when geotagging is turned on I would see an icon appear in the notifcation bar. The icon that appears would indicate your GPS model is in use and a circle would indicate 'searching for GPS' and then the filled in circle would indicate 'GPS acquired and locked'.
Question:
**When you enable geotagging in Android 4.3 built-in camera app, has the 'GPS searching/locked notification icon' been hidden even though GPS is being used?**
Motivation:
The reason I ask is because the previous method is akin to a video camera's red blinking light . Where the red blinking light tells you that you are recording and then you can take appropriate action. Without the red blinking light on the video camera you would have all sorts of recordings when you didn't want and other problematic scenarios.
Returning back to the Android camera app scenario, if the GPS icon doesn't ever appear to the user... even if GPS is actively being used --> that would lead to situations where I would record the GPS location for a photo when I didn't want to record the GPS location.

My Galaxy Nexus has just been updated to v4.2 of Jellybean, Google seem to have totally changed the camera app in this update and there's a few functions that I just can't find.
As I'm travelling a lot at the moment, I like to make sure that most of my pictures are geo-tagged so that I can work out where I was and when later! As I'm not in my home country, I have data disabled to save on extortionate roaming charges, so most of the GPS-Assistance functions don't work and GPS locks take longer than normal.
Previous versions of the Android camera app have had a small icon near the top of the screen in the camera app that flashes to indicate that the GPS is searching for a lock, that then turns solid when a good GPS lock is achieved. There doesn't seem to be any similar icon in the built-in camera app in the stock GED version of 4.2.
Is there any way that I can tell if the camera has achieved a GPS lock before I take a picture?

I would like to be able to upload photos _with geotag data_ to an online database that gives access to a controlled audience.
For example it is possible to use Picasa with a joint Gmail account that the photographer uploads to, but the viewer will have the login credential to the Gmail account and therefore can edit/delete these photos.
Is there a way I can accomplish this?

I turned on geo-tagging for photos, but the problem is that the GPS locking procedure seems to only start when I open the camera app - but it takes minutes for it to lock on a location and by that time the photo opportunity is gone.
Is there any way to enable GPS lock to be ready even before opening the camera app? For instance some phone settings to toggle it off and on, or some service I can get which continuously runs in the background and maintains a GPS lock?
And if there is, what will be the power implications of maintaining a GPS lock? Does it drain a lot from the battery, or is it relatively benign?
My device is Samsung Galaxy S 2, running Android 2.3.3.
