I'm developing an app that is supposed to measure vertical accelerations, and in the process I've discovered that the accelerometer seems to be uncalibrated. When the phone is lying perfectly horizontal, the Z axis acceleration should be 9.81, but it is about 8.81 (X and Y being roughly 0.0).
I can of course offset the error from within the app by letting the user "calibrate" the app while the phone is lying still. But it seems odd that there is no method within Android to do this - sometimes Google Maps prompts me to calibrate the compass by moving the phone in figure eights - but I have not seen any way to calibrate other sensors... is it possible?
A further problem is that if I turn the phone so the top is facing straight up (up/down in line with the direction of gravity), the offset of the axis' are different from what is expected, and different from the offsets I get when the screen is facing up. This all seems to indicate that the accelerometer is not as accurate as one might think, and when adding rotation to the mix the results get even more skewed...

Cosmic Byte Quantum gaming controller's gyroscope not work over Bluetooth on Android
I’m having an issue with my gaming controller - [Cosmic Byte Quantum](https://www.thecosmicbyte.com/product/cosmic-byte-quantum-dual-mode-bluetooth-wired-controller-for-ps4-pc-ios-android-switch-hall-effect-triggers-and-joystick/) and was hoping someone could help. I’m having an issue with my gaming controller - [Cosmic Byte Quantum](https://www.thecosmicbyte.com/product/cosmic-byte-quantum-dual-mode-bluetooth-wired-controller-for-ps4-pc-ios-android-switch-hall-effect-triggers-and-joystick/) and was hoping someone could help. Here’s the situation:
- **Device Setup**: I have [Cosmic Byte Quantum](https://www.thecosmicbyte.com/product/cosmic-byte-quantum-dual-mode-bluetooth-wired-controller-for-ps4-pc-ios-android-switch-hall-effect-triggers-and-joystick/) gaming controller that I connect to my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ using Bluetooth.
- **Problem**: The gyroscope on the controller doesn’t seem to be working when connected via Bluetooth. Checked it using [Game controller tester App](https://powgames.itch.io/game-controller-tester)
- **Observation/Temporary Fix**: When I connect the controller to my tablet via USB, the gyroscope works perfectly.
- **Interesting Observation**: If I connect the same controller to my iPhone via Bluetooth, the gyroscope functions correctly without any issues.
Given this, I have a few questions:
1. **Why does the gyroscope work via USB but not Bluetooth on my Android tablet?**
- Is there a compatibility issue between Android and the controller’s Bluetooth connection?
- Could it be a problem with how Android handles Bluetooth devices versus how iOS does?
2. **Why does the gyroscope work over Bluetooth on my iPhone but not on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+?**
- Does iOS have better support for Bluetooth gyroscope functionality?
3. **What can be done to solve this issue?**
- Are there any settings or apps on Android that I can tweak to fix the gyroscope issue?
- Can I root the tab and tweak something to fix this?
- Any other alternates, like buying a [USB Dongle](https://www.thecosmicbyte.com/product/cosmic-byte-stratos-xenon-gamepad-dongle-for-pc-gamepad-not-included-black/) for the controller can fix this?
Any insights, suggestions, or solutions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!
What did I try:
- Tried updating the firmware of the controller
- Tried using other apps/games to test Gyro
- Tried other Android devices
Expectation:
- Get the gyro from the controller working so as to play games like asphalt8 and others using the Controller's Gyroscope

Can Doogee Y9 Plus run AR apps?

In android 11 I disabled auto-rotate of the screen by setting to "off" Settings > Display > Auto Rotate.
however in certain apps that doesn't seem to make any difference and the screen is still rotated when I move the phone orientation
I assume that's because the app developer has decided to override the android auto-rotate setting, or would there be any other reason for this behavior?
Alternatively is there a way to set the gyroscope manually so I can set the orientation of the phone without it being automatically detected

I understand that this might be related to the sensor sensitivity, please let me know how to configure this if you know how.

As a result, the camera does not rotate and my steps aren't counted.
Anyway, is there an artificial way to rotate my camera in landscape mode?
Is there some setting or an application I can use to fix the camera precisely?
(I checked a dozen of apps that only rotate the screen, but the camera remains in portrait mode within the landscape mode of the screen.)
My device is Huawei P20 Pro and its OS is Android 10.

Do 360/3D videos in Chrome and YouTube app work on a phone without gyroscope?
I'd like to buy a new phone, I am considering a Nokia 5.3. I just noticed in its specification that it doesn't have a gyroscope. I wonder if embedded 3D/360 videos in Chrome ( and such videos in YouTube app ) would work on this phone ( + Google cardboard ).

I have an Android 7 phone and I have written an Android application for recording the following sensor values:
Accelerometer (Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER)
Linear acceleration (Sensor.TYPE_LINEAR_ACCELERATION)
Gravity (Sensor.TYPE_GRAVITY)
Gyroscope (Sensor.TYPE_GYROSCOPE)
Magnetic Field (Sensor.TYPE_MAGNETIC_FIELD)
Rotation Vector (Sensor.TYPE_ROTATION_VECTOR)
Game Rotation Vector (Sensor.TYPE_GAME_ROTATION_VECTOR)
I think the linear acceleration is the accelerometer minus gravity.
Can somebody explain what the difference between accelerometer, gyroscope, rotation vector and game rotation vector is? I've read the description in the Android documentation but it is not clear to me.
Moreover, can I use the magnetic field recordings to calculate some motion or position measurements which I'm not getting from the other listed sensor measurements?

My question is, is it the app's fault or my tablet's fault?
Here's some test data (assuming horizontal is right-side up, data given in m/s²):
Right-side up: X=0 Y=9.8 Z=0
Left: X=9.8 Y=0 Z=0
Right: X=-9.8 Y=0 Z=0
Upside down: X=0 Y=-9.8 Z=0
Flat on the ground: X=0 Y=0 Z=9.8

Why gyroscope is a must, are the gravity & compass not reliable to make 360 pictures?
**Update:**
Both gravity & compass have (x,y,z) components and I know both have some drawbacks:
- gravity sensor is affected by acceleration (motion).
- compass sensor is affected by metals and sometimes get locked is a direction. (move device in 8 path to free it).
Also:
- gyroscope has little drift with time (may not affect in this case)
Anyway, are these enough reasons to drop phones without gyro from 360 photo capturing?

Is it possible to simulate/fake a gyroscope using the sensors already in the phone?
I have a Vodafone smart 6 Ultra running Android 5.0.2
Sensors:
- Accelerometer
- Magnetometer
- Gravity Sensor
- Linear Acceleration
- Rotation Sensor
- Proximity Sensor
- Light Sensor
I have tried searching for a solution, but google only brings up others looking for an attachment which acts as the gyroscope.
I also tried searching for the specific issue within the game, but that had nothing either.

On my Nexus 5, I'd like to use the google camera in panorama mode to make a 180-degree fisheye photo. I want to do this holding my phone in such a way that the lens is looking UPWARDS (towards the sky). In other words, my zenith should be in the middle of the final processed picture. Unfortunately, I can only create fisheyes when I hold the phone in an upright position, i.e. when it is aligned to the horizon. This means that by the end of the whole process, I am going to have a final image showing half terrain, half sky.
When I hold my phone horizontally, thus looking upwards, before starting the capturing process an arrow appears that forces me to put it in a vertical position - aligned with the horizon - before it creates the first pic. See here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Xl49qe9PWbYk5lcXA2czY4aDg/view?usp=sharing
The reason why I want to do this is because I'd like to put this picture on a planetarium dome. These domes represent the sky above us and therefore show mostly sky and not terrain.
Here's an example pic of what I want to create:
Any ideas?

Bluestacks is a Programm for the Computer to run Android apps on it.
In Bluestacks you can simulate an Android Smartphone
In Bluestacks you can easily simulate Phone-Tilting
I want to simulate Phone-Rotation in Bluestacks - Does anyone know how?
YES, i searched for an answer, I wouldn't ask here if I didn't.

I want to try google cardboard applications. Most of them require gyroscope in order to run properly. Sadly my phone doesn't have gyroscope installed in it.
I'm thinking if there's already a bunch of options to use the data from the sensors from an android phone to do a lot of things in PC (joystick, etc), why not the opposite?
