I put in the battery on my HTC Desire Z, set it on to charge, press the power button, and boom, a loud little boot-up song with the logo on the screen "htc quietly brilliant" not so very quiet. 5 seconds later, it goes dark, and BOOM, right in my face with that same noise and logo. It has been in a loop like that since. Yes, I'm aware that the HTC Desire Z was released years ago, but I'm still willing to try. I have tried force shutdown and everything that I could find, but first of all, it won't even turn off and it's giving me a migraine headache from that loud noise. I'm out of options, and I'm not risking an electric shock from taking out the battery.

I found vendor and product IDs via Mac OS X system information. ADB working seems to indicate that communication between my laptop and the phone does work fine. How can I get fastboot to work? **Background info:** I'm trying to install CyanogenMod on a HTC Desire Z. Part of the procedure I'm following is described here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/HTC_Desire_Z:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread) I get stuck at the fastboot oem rebootRUU step: $ fastboot oem rebootRUU (hangs, I gave up after 20 minutes), and I think that is due to fastboot not working. Any other ideas on how to get past this appreciated?

I dropped my phone into some water, immediately removed battery and soaked in rice (all I had at work). The phone dried, but the keyboard (G2) had some bad keys that have never corrected, and there seems to be some kind of residue on the screen, and the backlight is not uniform across the whole thing. This all happened 2 months ago, but I would like to fix it. Question is: Do you think I could soak the phone in alcohol, and then dry it in an airtight container with Damp-Rid or silica gel or something similar to help fix the existing problems? Some people seem to think this would cause more damage, I would love to hear the reasoning why though, as alcohol evaps clean...

Why has speech-to-text stopped working on my phone?
I have an HTC Desire Z with Android 2.2. For some reason my speech to text convertor has stopped working. Everytime the soft keyboard opens up and I press on the small mike button, it says audio problem and closes. Up until yesterday, the phone was fine. What could be the problem?

Google Books Android crashes on loading. Is there a workaround to stop this, while I wait for the developers to fix? > The application Books (process com.google.android.apps.books) has > stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. This happens every time (trying again won't help). Restart of the phone and uninstall re-install of the app doesn't help either. Apparently, there is a known issue whereby it will crash if it has no books (wouldn't that be most people to begin with!?) But their remedy instructions are vague - just open a free ebook - but from what? A browser? Will this interact with Google Books to solve the problem? I visited the book store and downloaded an ebook but this just went to the Downloads folder so not sure how this can help. I also tried copying an ebook from the Download folder to data\com.google.android.apps.books\files and running the Google Books app but this doesn't work - i.e. the crash still happens.

I recently purchased **LG G2 LS980** (locked on Sprint network in USA) in India and unlocked it to work in India. The build number of the software that came with phone was **LS980ZV7**. The phone kept downloading OTA updates (which I could never stop) and I kept installing them. The software version updated from ZV7 to ZV8 to ZVA. After ZVA, the phone downloaded ZVA to ZVC update (611 MB) several times, installed but never updated the software version. In every update, the phone rebooted, optimized apps and booted normally. One day, I installed TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) on my phone. The phone again downloaded an ZVA to ZVC OTA update . I went on to install the OTA update. The phone rebooted into TWRP and never booted back into normal mode since then. In an effort to restore the phone, I did what ever possible to restore the phone. I even did the hard reset of the phone. But the phone still boots into TWRP. Now, in a way, the phone is "soft bricked". And the only option (I may be wrong) seems to flash the phone with a custom ROM. Any help please. Thanks in advance

When I configure my G2's "Quick Keys", I cannot set it to anything in "Settings > Wireless & Networks", except the main "WiFi settings" panel. Ideally I would want quick keys assigned to "Tethering & portable hotspot", that would allow me to turn on data-forwarding quickly. For the time being, I also need easy access to "Mobile network Settings", because I need to turn "Use only 2G networks" on and off, because I happen to be one of the lucky people that hit the data throttle, and cannot make voice calls when it is busy during the day.

I lost my system somehow. My phone turned off and reboots during starting up. I'm only able to go to hboot (fastboot/recovery etc.) on my phone, and I'm unable to run Android system. I have tried many possible solutions with help of #g2root on freenode: 1. First I downloaded the stock ROM and saved it to SD card (PC10IMG.zip). - It begins to load, and I see - positions. - When I agree to install, there's "- Updating" text near to " Bootloader". Nothing else happens for more than 30 minutes. 2. Then we tried to get rom.zip from official HTC Unlocker for Desire Z, saving it to the SD card. - This time the only list item there was " Bootloader" and also "Updating" text and nothing happens. 3. The last thing I tried was to run EXE file from HTC that is supposed to update my HBOOT. - It also doesn't work. Here are my HBOOT params: >VISION PVT SHIP S-ON >?HBOOT-0.85.0013 >MICROP-0425 >RADIO-26.10.04.03_M >eMMC-boot >Apr 11 2011,23:36:27 Is there anything else I can try to recover my phone?
