Is there someway to make "My Maps" in Google Maps available offline with location markers?

I use Google Maps on my PC and have some favorite places added there. On my phone, I want to use an offline map. On my old phone, I used [RMaps](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/RMaps) with whole city maps downloaded with [Mobile Atlas Creator](https://mobac.sourceforge.io/) and manually added favorites and POIs on it. Now I bought a new phone and found out that RMaps is no longer available.
I'd like to add favorites/POIs to Google Maps and make sure they will be available with a whole city map when the phone is offline. But I don't want to be somewhere and open Android Google Maps and find out some tile for that area wasn't downloaded.
The best solution I see is to download the whole map from Google Maps or OSM and store the map on the phone and use some app that's able to open this offline map file and at the same time sync favorites/POIs with Google Maps.
I tried OsmAnd, but when I create a POI on it, it fails due to some authentication error. It's not trying to connect to Google, because other apps are able to sync with Google Apps. But there's no setting to add login data or create a new account.
Could somebody suggest a way to properly handle offline maps and sync favorites with Google Maps?

There are 2 functions in Google Maps that are quite suitable for a task of mine, but they would need to be **combined**, and after searching the internet and this site, I'm **not sure if it is possible or not**. I would appreciate confirmation about this question: If/how this is possible.
**1:** In Google Maps, one can create their **own maps** (see image below). These can then be displayed in the Google Maps app and can also be shared with others.
**2:** One can select **areas** of the map to be **saved offline** in the Google Maps App.
.
**Hence the question: is it possible to also save offline maps of my own maps/saved places?**
I have noticed that I can load the Map, if I then deconect the internet, it will still display all markers in the are. However, if I close (not minimize) the app and re-open it, they are gone. Likewise, if I click on one of the points I can't see the information saved for these points.
This makes me believer that offline-map functionality is not available for saved/own maps, even if I have downloaded an offline-version for the overlaping area. Is this correct? And if not, where can I find more information about how to achieve this.
I have found similar questions here and I do not mean to open up a duplicate question, I simply don't know if nothing has changed in the last 10 years.

My phone is a Nexus 4, running Android 5.1.1. I am getting this error when I try to go to a postcode in London.

> Can't connect to the network. Check your data connection and try again.

But I have downloaded offline maps of London and surrounding areas.
e.g. if I go to "My Places", I can see 3 offline maps, including London*
>
@Czar points out that the map files seem rather small...Maybe that is the cause, though I have an issue there too. It doesn't give me a box to draw around what I want to download, it gives me a screen where I zoom out to how much I want, but if I zoom out too far it says it's too big. It is only letting me save areas that are quite small like around < 30MB.
\*Note- in this question, I stated that I clicked 'My Places' to see offline maps that was the case in the version I had, where I had the issue. The current Google Maps has offline maps in the menu. Google Maps can be updated from the Google Play Store.

I am using RMaps Ext (a rmaps mod) on Android, browsing offline maps created using Mobile Atlas Creator (MOBAC). It's working great so far.
The only problem is that when browsing offline satellite maps the zoom level is fixed to the tile layers I chose to download on MOBAC.
But I was wondering since I have already downloaded more detail satellite maps, e.g. zoom level 16, in theory I could browse zoom level 15, 14 to level 10. You just need some fast algorithm to zoom out a big image.
e.g.
- The level 16 zoom file size is 80MB
- The level 10-16 zoom file size is 120MB
So could the zoom out scaling be done on Android using the 80MB file directly?
It will save a lot of storage space (but spend more on CPU with image resizing)
Thanks in advance!

The map file provided by OsmAnd for a particular region has inaccuracies, so I would like to use this fixed OBF file instead.
How to do that?
Below is the procedure described on the website providing the fixed map, unfortunately it did not seem to work (when viewing the whole country the regions downloaded within OsmAnd (official OBF files) are highlighted in green, but the non-official region does not show in green).

Note: Unlike my other question https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/55656/how-to-import-a-obf-poi-file-in-osmand this question is about maps, not POIs. Answers at that question do not solve the problem here.

I have a custom OSM file which contains just a boundary of some region, and I would like to have it permanently displayed in my OSMand app, as an overlay or underlay.
I created the file using gpsbabel to convert from a KML file.
I have a hard time figuring out how to make OSMand see the file as available for underlay or overlay. When I click "Configure Map", and then "Overlay map...", Enable, "Install more..." it shows me a long list of maps, but no option to use the OSM file I created.
I know I can display the GPX file on my map using the Show GPX data option in "GPX files" menu, and that works, but just curious to learn if and how I can display custom maps using overlay or underlay.

Is there a way within Google Maps or using 3rd party software (available on F-Droid maybe) that can download Google Maps and store them indefinitely and also allow offline search? Or is there an alternative way to do this?

OsmAnd is an open source navigation Android app.
How to make OsmAnd display all of the data from Wikivoyage?
So that when scrolling the map, one can see the hotels/etc with their details, even when offline.

In my case it would be Berlin. I don't care about the required space because I have quite a lot of free space on my SD card.
So the question is if it's possible to download the maps for entire city?

So, I've been travelling around the world a lot over the last couple of months, and one thing that I've been doing to avoid big roaming data charges on my personal phone, has been using the cached offline maps feature in Google Maps. This has worked without any problems in China, Australia, the UK and the US.
So I'm now in Brazil, and I suddenly find that I can't download any offline maps of the local areas.
When I go to the menu in Google Maps and select Make Available Offline, I get the usual square overlay to select the area, and then it turns red and says "Offline maps is not available in selected area".
I've tried zooming in and out, and moving the selection area around, but no luck.

I ended up with TrekBuddy, **GoPenS**, **RMaps**, Maverick, OruxMaps (the emphasized ones look the best, in my opinion).
However, now I have another problem -- how to prepare maps for those apps (please help me with one, and hopefully I will manage the rest) for off-line usage?
I would like to go on a ride, pick up the phone somewhere in the forest and see on the map where I am. For now it works only with internet connection, but without it I have a huge-scale map and after zoom-in blank space or "loading" icon.
In short -- **QUESTION** -- how to feed phone/apps with maps, so I could zoom-in/out map freely when I am in the wild (offline)?
*I would like avoid tricks like relying on caching -- so "solution" to scan interesting region with all possible scales and in such case acquire off-line version of the map is a no-go!*
**Clarification:** I am not looking for another app (however thank you for the hints/links), I am looking for **maps** (data). I want to get map from on-line version (which are automatically downloaded) to off-line one.

With my phone saddled on my bicycle, is there a GPS app that will "guide" me using the itinerary I crafted? Turn-by-turn would be ideal, but just writing the itinerary as a map overlay would be better than nothing.
Note: My phone is WiFi only so I will need an application that can cache a lot of maps, like AndNav2 or Maverick. Also, I am stuck with Android 1.5

So, I need a simple navigation app (I like the gmaps look, just roads, no fancy colors and things), which includes ALL bus/tram/metro/train (yeap, all of them) stations of greece, their schedule and navigation through them.
I NEED it to be offline, otherwise, I would use my favorite gmaps. Cellural data here cost A LOT (I have only 60MB/mo).
I've tested nearly each and every navigation app out there.
I don't care about the cost, but being free is a plus, especially open source.
I can extract the points of bus stations (I think) from the maps provided by greece.
I can also extract the schedules, but i don't know in which format.
thank you!
I've searched the whole web and I found no answer...
