I'm using Google Maps on my Pixel 8a to while I'm driving and it works nicely.
But the map interface is all messed up when I'm using it in walking mode. If I let the app adjust the perspective itself, the arrow starts pointing towards a random direction and the path is usually hidden out of view. This is what I see unless I fix perspective by panning and rotating every 10 meters or so.
**To clarify**: Google Maps shows my location and the direction I am heading correctly. It just doesn't rotate it's view so that the arrow is pointing upwards.
Here's what I (and probably everyone else) expect it to look like:
Is this a bug with Google Maps or should I be change some setting?

I see on GPS test that my phone (S23+, Android 14) can receive Glonass/Galileo/Beidou
But I did not manage to base navigation on one of them (Maps or other).
I will be happy to find a solution, preferably with offline maps, in order to minimize external data dependency.

Looking for way to share location data between apps

I don't know if it's by design to keep you from using a competitors app, or if there is just no good standard for geo data in Android, but I needed some 3rd party app to convert the geo data for me. I used Map2Geo (
catfish.android.map2geo
) plus the 'url injector' (catfish.android.map2geo.urlinjector
) by Catfish for that. For a while life was uncomplicated. Then, Map2Geo got removed from the Play Store, even though it looks clean . There is a mirror with the original description , but I don't trust unofficial sources.
Now I have become increasingly frustrated not being able to do simple things that I know are technically possible. I have searched everywhere for an alternative method of achieving something that could be called "universal sharing of geo data between apps". I can't even find others asking the same question. Am I missing something obvious? Is there a trick, plugin, hack or a tool similar to map2geo that does the conversion between apps locally?

This is what I am facing right now. I have certain pages configured as Android app links in manifest file of my app. They work as expected when I search for those pages in Google and click on those links resulting in opening the corresponding app pages.
My issue is when I am browsing the same pages on Chrome OS browser on my phone and try to navigate to the same links in the browser itself, they still open the app instead of navigating in the browser itself.
So for example if I have a Android app link in manifest file as scheme://host/path/
When I type this link in browser or open browser with scheme://host and navigate to path, it opens the app instead of keeping the user in the browser itself.
How do I prevent user from opening the app when navigating in the browser itself?

What does an orange street symbolize in Waze?
I wonder what an orange street symbolizes in Waze. Example in Washington state, USA: [![enter image description here][1]][1] Traffic jam? No traffic jam, but slow street? Something else? I believe the traffic jams I've seen on Waze were red, not orange. [1]: https://i.sstatic.net/yxV9d.png

I have the next issue with my Google Pixel 6 Pro. I use two nav apps - Google Maps and Waze. The sound from both of them are not audible while phone is connected via Bluetooth to my car, unless I start some song playing either in Spotify or Google Music. After song is started playing I need to turn off the nav app and run it again. Now the navigation audio will work and I can stop the music playing.
Any suggestions on how can I fix that? I've found multiple articles about "fixing navigation sound" but none helped me. Thank you!

Background: I somehow managed to switch route highlighting off and now I want it back. It doesn't seem to be a bug in Google Maps, at least a phone restart doesn't restore the highlighting. I know I can just wipe Google Maps user data, but I prefer to learn how to do it properly.

I know I can block notifications from settings, but this takes too much time to disable all apps and enable them again after driving. Also, Facebook and other apps have those pop-ups ("Chat heads" ), which are really disturbing.
Is there any app that can prevent them to appear on my screen ?

Recently released Google Maps doesn't have a standalone app for Navigation which was quick to use - only one tap and voice recognition to start. It takes at least four taps in new Maps to navigate, which is not good to operate while driving. Google Now is not on devices with ICS and below (still majority).
How to start navigation quickly by one tap in current Google Maps? (Google Now is not supported)
Observed on: Google Maps version: 7.02 (700021001), Android ICS 4.0.4, Sony Xperia Active
Previous standalone app on left started navigation immediately after speaking the destination.
New Maps app on right takes 4 taps to small nav icon, edit, mike, start and doesn't show alternatives if voice recognition is poor.

How to disable street names in android voice navigation?
I'm stuck with a quite simple problem, still can't find the solution. I'd like to disable street names reading in voice navigation, to keep just simple guidance like "turn right" or "turn left". Can't find an option in settings so maybe configuring text to speach engine somehow would help?

Often in ebooks there are links embedded in paragraphs that reference some image or figure in the previous chapters or sections. Once I've clicked on it (and viewed that image), how do I get back to the paragraph I was reading? Hitting android's back button always exits the app.
