Would a shortcut be a possible way? I don't see a good mechanism for this.
Or maybe I'm missing some general obvious built-in functionality for disabling/enabling two related functions?

My iPhone and WiFi-only Apple watch are sync'd in such a manner than when putting the watch in airplane mode, the phone also enters airplane mode. My understanding is that airplane mode disables all radio activity: WiFi, cellular, and Bluetooth.
When entering airplane mode on the watch, presumably the watch tells the iPhone to enter airplane mode as well. So now both devices are in airplane mode.
But I'm curious about what happens when airplane mode is turned *off*. Let's say I turn off airplane mode on the watch. WiFi and Bluetooth are now restored on the watch. Fine. It then reaches out to the iPhone to tell it to turn off its airplane mode. But theoretically the iPhone shouldn't be able to respond, should it? All of it's radios are off after all. Yet somehow it works.
How is the watch able to give instructions to the iPhone when the iPhone's radios are off?

Is there a way to schedule airplane mode for iphone?
This question was essentially asked 3+yrs prior, but I don't see any recent updates. I'd like to set my iphone to engage airplane mode for an hour (example) and then turn off airplane mode/engage cellular service an hour later. Is that possible?

Airplane Mode in Apple Watch without cellular
What's the point of Airplane Mode in Apple Watch models that have no cellular capabilities? I believe it will not turn off Bluetooth (as it will disconnect the Watch from iPhone), and then we left only with Wifi. Is it only for Wifi? Because Wifi has it's own toggling button

Morever, I can't see any option to allow Airplane Mode to disable these channels. So what does it turn off?
(Despite the similar titles, this is not a duplicate of https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/123578/whats-the-point-of-airplane-mode-on-a-wifi-only-ipad , because of changes in how the iPad function since that question was asked. That question is asking "What *unique* functionality does Airplane Mode deliver that you can't do manually?", and apparently applied to an earlier version of the iPad for which Airplane Mode did disable BlueTooth and WiFi. I'm asking literally what does the toggle actually do in modern versions.)

> Wrong Passcode
>
> Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, go to
> Passcode, then tap Re-enable Passcode Entry to try again.
But when I go to Passcode on the Apple Watch app it just spins probably because the watch is in Airplane Mode.
When I try to reset the watch through the Apple Watch app I get this error message:
> Could Not Connect to Apple Watch
>
> Make sure your Apple Watch is nearby, powered on, and not in Airplane
> Mode.
But I can't turn off Airplane mode on the watch because it locked. Do I have any other options besides taking to the Apple store with proof of purchase?

I’m using an iPhone 11 Pro on iOS 14, but I have also observed this behavior on iOS 13 as well as on an iPad running iOS 14.
Sometimes, when I go to reboot my phone I will close all apps (just to cleanup the app drawer, I’m not trying to manage what’s running myself) and then put the phone into airplane mode so that it will be in airplane mode when it eventually reboots.
What I’ve noticed is that about half the time, after closing all apps and putting the phone into airplane mode, when the phone reboots, LTE is active, wifi is not connected, and the last few apps that I closed are in the app switcher. If I do it again, it works as expected. I also notice that if I wait for 30-60 seconds after closing everything, and then reboot, I almost never see this behavior.
This is more of a curiosity than anything but I wanted to see if there was a reason for this? Does iOS not immediately store the open apps and airplane mode status when set?
Thanks!

How can I move files by USB between a version 6.1 iPod Touch and a Linux machine?

I've recently dug out my old 5th Gen (A1421) model iPod Touch and put it back to factory settings. It's currently running version 6.1 (10B141) of its OS. I don't want to find that a software update has broken it one day, so my goal is to keep it offline as much as possible (specifically, Airplane Mode) and have it only talk to my PC, a Xubuntu 20.04 Linux machine. In line with this goal, I've never linked it up with any sort of iTunes software or Apple account.
It was my hope that with the iPod set up as above, I would be able to connect it by USB to my PC and transfer files as I pleased. My goal is to use it to play mp3s. After all, Linux typically ignores whatever file system visibility restrictions that the connected device is trying to enforce. Now that I've tried that, my PC is only reporting that two devices exist: "iPod", contained only an empty DCIM folder, and "Documentes on iPod touch", containing nothing. When I try to move files to either of these, I either get an error message saying that a file doesn't exist or an error message saying that a directory doesn't exist. Unlocking the iPod does not change this, and the iPod does not seem to respond at all to anything that I'm doing on the PC, other than trying to charge its battery from my machine.
So, given my goals, what can I do to be able to move files between the two devices? Could anything that I've done, such as putting the iPod in Airplane Mode, be to blame for my difficulties? I have managed to use ifuse to get new files on to the iPod , but the iPod itself shows no signs of recognizing them.

Well, the iPad has been in airplane mode for the last 1 week. This morning I saw on my iPhone that an update was available so I went ahead with that update. When I accessed my iPad to update and went into settings to turn off airplane mode I noticed that it had already detected that an update was available!
How is that even possible when it had been in airplane mode all week?

i just read the article,
>Possible to access/restore past versions of Notes in iCloud?
And someone's answer seems great:
>Assuming you have 2 devices, let's say an iPhone and iPad, there is only one thing you can do:
delete something on your iPhone
as soon as you notice, enable airplane mode on your iPad
unlock iPad & open notes
copy note to somewhere else
turn off airplane mode
copy note back to notes
So my question is: HOW can i enable my "ipad" airplane mode BEFORE i unlock it? I didn't even know that was possible! Please help-- i need to recover my icloud note from 2 hours ago.
much appreciated!
i am rather "low-tech" BTW

After enabling airplane mode, I powered the phone off and booted it in a Faraday cage. It still transmitted on 1.8 GHz, despite not being able to receive any cell tower signals.

How long does my watch collect data when it isn't connected to my iPhone? Today I woke up very early in the morning and I put on my watch (in airplane mode). A few hours later, I disabled airplane mode and all my health data from the last few hours (e.g. heart rate) was synced immediately to my iPhone. Does that even work when my watch is in airplane mode the whole day?
