I tried using the watch's Now Playing app, also to use the watch's Podcasts app, and the built-in Remote app, without any success.
It seems to me this feature of controlling audio with Apple Watch, is working only for the Music library, but this Apple Discussions' issue points out that also Spotify tracks are working, so it's not limited to Apple Music.

Remote app on new iPhone SE won't connect to my Apple Music library on my MacBook Pro

My old iPhone SE (2nd Gen) would connect to my Apple Music library without a problem. I replaced it with a new SE (3rd Gen) and now I can't connect to my Apple Music library on my MacBook Pro.
According to the Apple instructions, I need to be on the same wifi network (I am) and be logged into my Apple id on both devices. (I am.) The iTunes Remote says that no libraries are found.
I clicked on settings and pressed the Add a Media Library button which gives me a code to enter in the Apple Music app. I successfully enter the code and get a message on the Music app that my remote is now able to control music, but the iPhone app won't do anything. I get the round icon with the music note but it is greyed out.
I've rebooted, restarted, checked that home sharing is active, etc. but nothing is working. I upgraded to Ventura 13.3 hoping that might help, but no go.
My old iPhone SE and my iPad Air 2 which will only update to iOS 15.7.4 have no problem connecting to my Apple Music library via the Apple Remote app. What could be different with my new iPhone SE aside from the newer OS (16.4.1) that is preventing the Apple Remote app from connecting?

This previous answer suggests I may be able to control Apple TV with the 1Keyboard app, but that app costs $10 and I have no reason to believe it can do what I need it to do.
Any help?

I have an Apple Music subscription and iTunes 12.2 on an HTPC (Windows) which his my primary music player. I want to use my iPhone to control what I play. I've tried the Apple Remote app, which works, but it only allows me to choose music that I've added to my library. It does not allow me to look up an arbitrary song from the cloud (whatever the term for this is - it's the functionality under the "New" section of iTunes on OSX) and play it from the Remote. If I want to do that I have to do it directly on HTPC, which is not acceptable.
Basically I just want Spotify Connect functionality for Apple Music. If it's from the Remote app, great. If it's from the Music app, great. What has been the most successful approach from others with a similar need?

When my PC and my iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, I can access my shared library with the Remote app. It works as advertised.
But if I connect my PC through an ethernet cable, the library does not appear in Remote.
**My configuration:**
* A Netgear switch is connected to my ISP box.
* A Wi-Fi mesh (Netgear Orbi) is connected to that switch.
* My PC is connected to that switch.
* My iPhone is connected to the Wi-Fi mesh.
**What I noticed:**
If I connect my PC to the Wi-Fi, then open Remote and start playing a song from the shared library, and finally re-plug the ethernet cable into my PC, Remote continues to see my shared library (even if I kill the app and immediately relaunch it).
From this point, it seems to work for a while but at some point, Remote does not see the shared library anymore.
I know the doc says both devices should be on the same Wi-Fi network but since I somehow made it work through ethernet, I'm wondering if it could also work without having to unplug my PC first.
**UPDATE:** Following David Andersen's track, I tried disabling Wi-Fi as soon as I re-plug the ethernet cable and Remote lose connection immediately. So, I guess it never worked through ethernet (it just work until the PC does the actual switch from Wi-Fi to ethernet). But my question remains: Is there a way I can make it work?

I can't find the Apple TV (4K) remote, and tried to set up my iPhone or iPad as the remote . But the Apple TV was on a different Wifi router before, and the iPhone and iPad remote app turned the wheel repeatedly and can't find the Apple TV device.
Is there any way to make it work? Such as moving the iPhone or iPad 2 feet away from my Apple TV and have them "hooked up"? I guess one possibility was if that Apple TV sent a token to iCloud for my account long before, and can let me download that token to my remote app to authenticate it is the same user trying to use the remote functionality but I guess such functionality is not there (yet)? Is there any method at all?
A side note is, if a new remote needs to be purchased, I supposed it can still hook up to my existing Apple TV (4K), or else there really is no point in selling a remote by itself?

We have two Apple TV 4s and a number of iOS devices. After the iOS 12.2 update, my iPhone XS would not find the TV called LIVING ROOM but would work with PORCH just fine. I uninstalled the Remote app, and restarted my Apple TV and my phone. Now, my iPhone does not see any Apple TVs in the house, even after reinstalling the Apple TV Remote app (which *does* work without any problems).
LIVING ROOM shows up just fine on my iPad. Both TVs show up on my wife's iPhone X.
I am open to suggestions for further troubleshooting that are short of restoring my iPhone from backup. I would prefer not to reset iPhone Networking Settings unless somebody is pretty sure that is likely to fix the issue.

I don't have access to my proper AppleTV remote to control my AppleTV (4th Gen), but that's no problem because I can use the Remote app on an iPhone and iPad.
The Remote app was working fine until one morning it wouldn't connect from any iPhone or iPad. The status listed is "offline" -- see the attached screenshot.
The AppleTV appears to be still connected to the WiFi network, as I am able to share my iPhone's screen.
How would screen sharing work but the Remote not work?
I killed the Remote app multiple times (swipe up) and rebooted the AppleTV (power cycle).

I'm using a Mac mini with an external 3TB hard drive to run my audio system.
I'm controlling iTunes on the Mac mini using Apple's Remote app on my iPad.
My problem is that Remote seems to lose the connection with the Mac repeatedly,
so in turn I lose the ability to control my music. Sometimes it's just slow and the message reads it's connecting with the shared file, then it finds it, other time it tells me it can't find it at all. The Mac is set to not sleep. What can I do to keep the connection between my Mac and the Remote app on my iPad?

At work, I cannot get home sharing to work with the iOS Remote app to see my Macbook Pro's iTunes instance. Both the laptop and the iOS devices are connected to the same network (have tried both wi-fi and Ethernet for the laptop)
Going into the app, no devices show up and it says to enable home sharing.
Home sharing is enabled in iTunes and as soon as I go home and connect to my home network, I can see the MacBook Pro's iTunes install via home sharing.
So my question is what port(s) configuration would have to be done to make it show up at work? Our IT people said it's not an intentional blocking of the service and would like to help if we can figure out what ports need to be opened to make home sharing work.

What I want to do:
I am listening to music while I am on my way back home. I get home and my iPod touch connects to my access point. My Mac is awake and could be directed to play music via Remote on my iPod touch.
Can I sync both devices so they play the same song at the same time, so I can turn off my iPod and put away my headphones, but continue listening via my Mac?

Power cycling my router (a Linksys E2000) fixes the problem temporarily, but it always comes back.

Apple TV (headless) + Home Sharing + Remote stops playback after one song

I have the following setup:
- iMac (2013) with iTunes (11) and Home Sharing enabled
- Apple TV (3rd gen) with Home Sharing enabled, no HDMI connected only optical digital out to my DAC
- iPhone 4 with Apple Remote app
- All devices are on the same wireless network (Jensen Air:Link something, might be replaced soon)
**The problem**: I connect to the Apple TV with the Remote app on the iPhone. After a short period, I can access my music library (located on the iMac) and play songs from it. It will play fine for a song (or two), and then it just stops.
(Remote app will typically display the song after the one that was just played, as if it was playing (the pause symbol is displayed) but there will be no "progress" indicator. Pressing pause does not have an effect. Skipping back/forth will change the song title/icon in Remote app, but nothing is played. After clicking around in Remote app, trying to restart the playback, sometimes playback starts again, sometimes the app terminates (I haven't found any patterns for what works here yet, it seems somewhat random). After restarting the Remote app and/or playing around in it for a while, I can make the playback restart, but it stops again and the process repeats.)
I've read about various ports that need to be opened in the firewall etc., but I don't think any of these apply, as everything works fine for a while. AirPlay to the same Apple TV also works (for a while). There's no firewall enabled between any of the devices on the local wifi network.
I'm starting to think this could be a problem with the Apple TV running without a TV/screen connected on the HDMI port, and that some kind of "screen blanker" or power save mode is triggered.
**Now, the questions**: Does anyone know how to make the Apple TV run problem-free in headless mode (no TV/screen)? Is this even supported? Or would I be better off buying an AirPort Express and connect that to the DAC?
