**Disclaimer**: *I have actual clinically diagnosed OCD, so please, excuse my request if you find it silly, thank you.* Sometimes I misclick while using Finder, and as a result, files are dragged and moved between folders, or I double click to open a file and instead it gets me to rename it. Can I use Terminal, or some kind of script, to prevent Finder from click-drag-moving or renaming files (unless a user defined modifier key is pressed at the same time, like ⌥ Option or ⌘ Command) There's the Esc button in order to cancel an action, indeed, (as well as the Undo function), but unfortunately due to my OCD, it doesn't reassure me.

Is there a way to always force a MacOS window to gain focus when it's right-clicked or Cmd-clicked?

I've googled around and found some old OSX apps that don't work any more, but I'm still unable to find any way to make it so ANY click on a window that doesn't have focus _gives the window focus_. I am extremely sick of right-clicks and cmd-clicks and the like interacting with windows that don't have focus, which is utterly backwards behavior. Many would likely reply "Use an app like AutoRaise, that provides focus-follows-mouse." That's not what I want at all. I use overlapping windows all the time, and having focus automatically change as I mouse over them causes the window I want to interact with to disappear behind some other window I'm not interested in using at the moment. I only want the behavior of _clicks_ to change. Is there any way to do that?

Most of the commands I can see in AppleScript code and I can copy and paste it to make my own commands. However, the mouse clicks are not shown for some reason. **Update:** Dragon Dictation is no longer supported on Mac computers. Here is an alternative for mouse clicks: https://github.com/bobbymay/Dictation-for-macOS

When I right click and the context menu pops up, I instantly move my mouse over the menu, sometimes so fast, that the release of the right-click actually clicks on the command below the cursor. I suspect that this happen because on a Mac you can right-click and choose from the menu, or hold the right-click and then release on your options. I do not really like the second behavior, which also caused problems for me since I sometimes have deleted things or made actions that I wasn't aware of. I am using a MacBook Pro with High Sierra and I have a normal usb mouse, I used to have the same problem though on an iMac with a magic mouse. Is there a way to disable this behavior?

Increasing Tap-to-Click Sensitivity for an M1 MacBook Pro Running Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1 (24B91)
After many enthusiastic years on Mac trackpads I now have arthritis that requires Tap-to-Click. The feature worked well on my old Intel MacBook Pro but my refurbished M1 is unresponsive at least 25% of the time. Are there any options for increasing sensitivity to my taps?

I've been using my Macbook Pro M2 for a few months and couldn't complain. However, since yesterday I can barely notice the haptic click feedback of the trackpad. I have not changed anything in the settings. I did however clean the Laptop with a screen cleaner (which I have done countless times before). I compared the click feedback with my girlfriends Macbook and the difference is very noticeable (and it seems to be getting worse). Any help would be appreciated.

I have this problem where I press the right click, and the mouse moves a few nanometer over the contextual-menu. When a release the right click, the system acts as if I just did a left click on the contextual-menu and do the action like "copy" or "change page"... This can lead to pretty annoying consequences. The solution would be to stop the right click being treated as a left click when the mouse moves over the contextual-menu before the right click is released. I don't know if that's possible but honestly I doubt anybody use that feature in the first place. Another solution would be to make the contextual menu appear after the right click is released, instead of after the right click is pressed, if that is possible.

I have a bog-standard Tecknet USB mouse. I'm having trouble with my MMB when using Blender (3D). At first I assumed it was a software issue but now I'm thinking maybe its the button itself. Is there a way I can test this out on something else? I need to be able to click + hold + drag in multiple directions using the MMB. I can't think of any other app that does this. I looked into trying to swap the MMB with LMB and test it that way, but can't find a way to do that either. Just to note, the mousewheel itself works fine.

I have a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) with an M1 Max chip and 64gb memory. I also use a Logitech G502 Hero as my daily driver. It's been working flawlessly for about a year or two since I purchased it. A bit of back-story: After multiple long days at my computer, my hand was getting tired. I attempted to utilize an XBOX controller as a mouse, and installed several utilities in the process, as it wasn't as simple as I thought. Here's a list of software I attempted, more or less in order: - Enjoyable (worked, but was missing some inputs) - Controller Mate (didn't like, uninstalled immediately) - Steam (Worked the best, but was clunky as heck to configure.) - USB Overdrive (didn't try it, uninstalled) - 11Clicks (MAX/MSP external) (more for diagnosis, this is where I first noticed the click issue.) Somewhere between Steam and 11Clicks, I began to experience issues. I uninstalled all these using "App Cleaner" from Freemacsoft. (11Clicks was simple to just delete the external.) Over time, I discovered more issues. Here is what I'm currently experiencing. 1. Stuck clicks: If a scroll event is registered while middle click is down, the next click and drag will stick. 2. Horizontal Scroll - Shift + Scroll does not scroll horizontally. It does scroll vertically. 3. Possibly a red herring: tracking has been off. I used to sit at ~3200 dpi. I then had to jack it up to ~6000 dpi, and now I'm at 850 dpi, all of these changes were to achieve roughly the same movement on screen. What I've done. 1. I've rebooted 2. Uninstall/Reinstall Logitech GHUB. 3. Reboot into safe mode 4. Install LGHUB in safe mode. 5. Tested two additional mice (total of 3 external mice don't work) 6. Internal trackpad has been working flawlessly, though today I've noticed odd scrolling behavior. 7. Fresh install of LGHUB on my old (2012) MBP 8. Tested G502 on 2012 MBP - Worked like a charm, no issues. 9. Reinstalled MacOS 12.6.3 10. Deleted the following preferences: - com.apple.AppleMultitouchMouse.plist - com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse.plist - com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist 11. Repair all drives and volumes from Recovery OS. (There were some errors, but they were repaired, issue persists) 12. Contacted apple and Logitech support. Both are moving very slow. I will attempt apple again tomorrow. What I've been unable to do: I scoured my system folder and deleted a few files related to the software I had installed. I found some .dext files from USBOverdrive and Controller Mate that claim I don't have permission to delete. ("*The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items*"). I've created aliases of all the files that I want to delete or cant, or I suspect might be troublesome. I want my horizontal scroll back, and I want to be able to use CAD software without fear of my mouse sticking and distracting me again. Note: I believe this to be one issue, since all issues seemed to show up around the same time. Any help restoring my mac back to normalcy would be greatly appreciated. I know this is a lot but this is the whole story. Thanks.

What works: - Secondary click with two fingers - Feel/sound of trackpad click (no noticeable change in the feel of the trackpad) - Three/four-finger swipes/gestures What doesn’t work: - Primary (i.e. left) click - One finger tapping to click What I’ve tried: - Toggling System Preferences Trackpad settings - Rebooting - Toggling Bluetooth even though it’s normally off and I don’t own a bluetooth mouse (https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/111261/cant-click-with-trackpad-or-mouse-os-x-10-9-macbook-pro) - Using a USB mechanical mouse (right click worked, left click didn’t) - Switching the Primary mouse button with the USB mechanical mouse connected (Secondary click on the left button worked, Primary click on the right button didn’t) - Reset SMC and PRAM (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/reset-macs-smc-pram/) - Apple Hardware Test (No results found, could not click “Perform extended testing”) - Booting in Safe Mode - Checking Battery Health ("Condition: Normal” according to System Report; some people have had trouble with their battery bulging) - Laying my Macbook Pro on its side and tapping underneath the trackpad area (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3097419?start=15&tstart=0) I’m confused. I’ve used the Accessibility Options Shortcut (Fn-⌘-⌥-F5) to turn on mouse keys, which I’ve been using for the past week. As fun as it is to toggle mouse keys on and off, I’d really like to get the clicking working. Please help. I will be happy if this has a stupid easy answer.

So I'm experimenting with using an ipad with a keyboard to do "lite-weight things". I'm not exactly sure why.. I think it has something to do with wanting to get away from my work laptop and not wanting to carry another laptop around. One problem I experienced today was when using a web interface that required me to double click in safari. I couldn't seem to get this working. How do I double click in safari? Is double click behaviour better in another browser? Also is it possible to right-click? I have a pencil - that I tried using - but that didn't really help... # References * https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250495647

enter image description here This is a Path Bar at the bottom of a Finder Window in MacOS Monterey. From what I *remember* to go to a parent folder you would *double-click* the folder in the Path Bar. This is consistent with how you open other folders in MacOS. Now to navigate in my Path Bar - I have to single click the folder in the Path bar - if I double-click - it acts twice and takes me up two levels. I feel like I'm going nuts, I can't find a preference setting, and my mouse doesn't double-click for anything else. My question is: ***On Monterey Finder - Is the Path Bar selection of a parent folder single-click or double-click?***

I have a service for handling links. Right now I can right click the link, pick services from the context menu, and then select my service. I'd rather not navigate the menu. Is there a way I can harness Click when making a shortcut? A half-option is to right click the link, click elsewhere to close the dialog, and then press the keyboard shortcut, but this is cumbersome. (I'd be happy enough if I had to right click and then do a shortcut, but this seems to not work without clicking away.) I've internet sleuthed with enough search strategies that I think this may not be possible but am hoping I'm wrong and simply a careless querier!

Two days ago, I noticed that my left clicking was acting off. When I would click something, it wouldn't register and I'd have to click repeatedly for it to actually work. Additionally, when I'm highlighting text, I'll still be holding onto the left click, but it'll cut out and I'll have to press down harder for it to continue registering. The left clicking I use is the physical pressing down of the track pad. I prefer this method to the magic clicking because my hand can accidentally touch my track pad without it clicking on something eslse while I'm typing. I thought my problem might be a minor fluke so I restarted my computer multiple times in an attempt to fix it, but nothing happened. I went through forums and only found problems vaguely similar to mine. None seem to have the problem of left clicking just cutting out randomly. Some forum posts suggested running an Apple Hardware Test and mine came back clear. Others have said to make sure there's no external mouse on bluetooth, but I don't have one. I plugged a USB mouse in to make sure that left clicking as a whole wasn't a problem and it worked fine. I just want to know if anyone's had a similar problem and if there were any solutions to it before I take my computer in to the Geek Squad. I have a plan with them already, so there's no additional money being spent on taking my computer in, but I'd hate to have to waste their time and be away from my computer when I have school work to do on it.
