I want to write an AppleScript App that starts a full screen slideshow with all pictures in the currently active folder in Finder (on Big Sur/Apple M1).
Manually, in Finder I would have to open a folder, press command ⌘+ A to select all pictures (or files) inside, then press option ⌥+ spacebar to start the slideshow.
I want to write a Script-App, that does all that for me (and which I then can put in Finder's toolbar). I am a newbie to this all, so please explain it for the dummy I am!

I am trying to save one of those auto-generated slideshow/video in iOS Photos app. The video plays fine on my iPhone. I open it, then share icon, then "Save Video". A dialog box comes up that says "Preparing Video..." with a progress circle underneath. Normally, the circle begins to fill up and the video is saved. In this case, it just stays as a gray circle. Several minutes later there is still no progress. Is there any way to resolve this?
I am using iPhone 13 with more than 30 GB free and the latest iOS (15.5). I tried force-quitting the Photos app and restarting the phone. I also tried "Add to Shared Album" and "Save to Files" instead of "Save Video". Still the same problem.

I'm creating a slideshow project on my Mac via Photos.app
I've added 300+ images to the slideshow. I want them to appear in a random order. Randomization of a slideshow should be an extremely commonly desired feature.
However, Photos.app does not appear to have any option to randomize or shuffle the photos. I'm able to manually re-order the timeline of photos at the bottom, but that's too much work for a large slideshow.
How can I display a randomized slideshow in macOS Photos?

Frequently I have several photos on the Desktop or in Downloads, and I double-click to see the first one, but no, it is not the one I want, so I have to inspect the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.
I don't want to highlight this and that, and then choose “Slideshow” from somewhere I can't be sure of, or change the view to the “flip through” view, because I might not necessarily want to change the view style for the folder at the moment. All I want is to browse through a few photos.
On the Mac, is there a quick and easy way similar to Windows function?

Well, I updated to Keynote 10.1 and it hangs when starting the slideshow of the presentation. All of them went well on v10.0, but they don´t in v10.1. Any advice or suggestion. (Running in macOS 10.15.6)

I give a lot of talks using PDF slides built with LaTeX beamer. I was very happy with Skim, because it offers you to synchronize two Skim windows, s.t. you don't have to mirror the screen, but instead use both displays at their native resolution and also be able to watch the thumbnail sidebar etc. on your own display without your viewers watching (similar to what PowerPoint and Keynote offer with two displays).
However, as we all know, Apple has rendered PDFkit unusable since Sierra and Skim uses PDFkit for rendering. The main issue that rendered PDFkit unusable for presentations is the fact that it first shows a low resolution version of the content, before actually showing the high resolution rendering. This is very bothersome in the context of overlays.
- In *Sierra* one could circumvent this by scrolling through the entire presentation beforehand, which apparently built up the cache of high resolution renderings
- In *High Sierra* this is no longer possible, every time a page is shown it is shown at low resolution for a split second
Thus, I'm looking for alternative PDF viewers, which support two displays without mirroring but do not rely on PDFkit for rendering. Adobe Acrobat renders fine, but is not so suitable for presentations.

Running Mojave on an iMac. My screensaver is set to run a slide show of my favorite photos, and it looks great. Smaller images are zoomed to fit the screen, and a pretty good rescaling algorithm was used. But if I try to run a slideshow from Preview, the small images are highly pixellated when they'...

But if I try to run a slideshow from Preview, the small images are highly pixellated when they're zoomed — no smoothing was done at all. They look terrible.
Is there another way to display a slide show and have it look good? Do I need to install an App from the app store?
I remember when the MacOS built-in slide show mode was much nicer. It's as if they deliberately ruined it to force us all to use some other software.
