Who is paying for the free (normally paid) Android apps on the Amazon store?
I am really curious **who is paying** for the **free applications** you get when installing and using the **Amazon Android market program**? Is it *Amazon* (to promote their software/online store)? Is it the *application/game developer*? Does anyone know?

Is there a way to contact the developer of an app on the Amazon Appstore?
For Android apps on Google Play, usually (always?) there is a developer email address you can use to contact the developer of the app. But for apps published on the Amazon Appstore, I can't see any way to contact the developer of the app; is there a way?

With the bickering going on between Google and Amazon, I've hit a large annoyance. The versions of Audible, Kindle, and Prime Video from the Play Store all have purchasing disabled. You have to use the website to buy things and then download them (or for Prime Video, stream them). That lets Amazon comply with Google's policy while continuing to not give Google any money (I'd say that's malicious compliance, and I applaud it, even if the user experience of it is worse off to a consumer like myself). If you get the apps directly from the Amazon Appstore for Android, the features disabled for Google Play version are present in the Amazon Appstore version.
I have both Google Play and the Amazon Appstore for Android installed on my Tab S7+. If Google Play updates the Kindle app, as an example, the purchasing ability will then be gone, and if I go into the Amazon Appstore app, it won't allow me to do anything to fix it there because they identify that the current version wasn't installed through their Appstore app. So Google Play can do anything it wants on the system, but other launchers are better about not touching software they don't manage. Likely because Google gives themselves a pass while holding external devs to a much more stringent set of controls.
In the case of the Kindle app specifically, it really screws things up. You have to uninstall and reinstall the app, and then you have to re-add/re-download/etc. all the books, which is somewhat flaky given there's no "download all" option, and I have a _ton_ of books. A lot of the time, it will lock up a bit trying to bite off more than it can feasibly chew. Not really a big deal for Prime Video or Audible since I rarely download videos and my audiobook collection is somewhere small like a little over 375 audiobooks. Kindle has 2836 books, 102 documents (sideloaded books, like the free ones Tor.com releases monthly), and some 3511 comics (now that Comixology seems to have finished merging with the rest of Amazon.
Anyways, I hope that explains things clearly. Any advice would be appreciated. I'll note that my Galaxy Tab S7+ is not rooted, and I have no desire to do so. It's running Android 12.
I've disabled automatic updates across the board on the S7+ for now, but it's time consuming to do manual updates for patching while skipping over these 3 apps (thankfully, the list is alphabetized).
So, the crux question: Are there any ways to block Google Play from modifying an app installed from another source? I do still want to be capable to turn automatic updates back on again in the future.
It's extremely easy to misclick on the name of the app to skip when running updates in the Play Store, which would then require a full reinstall and redownload all of the files again to re-enable purchasing support again.
TL;DR: my Android apps installed from Amazon Appstore need to come from Amazon, period. If Google Play updates them, then in-app purchases are off the table, and the Amazon Appstore for Android will never give you an easy way to bring it back. At least their launcher behaves correctly by not updating things thaf were installed by Google Play. The biggest frustration part, by far, is that uninstalling and reinstalling wipes out the downloaded data (Prime Video for TV/movies, Kindle for ebooks, and Audible for audiobooks & podcasts).
I read a bunch of older threads before writing this, but most of the ones I came across were missing large chunks of data and they didn't really help much.

Recently Amazon disabled all in-app purchases from their apps distributed through the Play Store.
As I'm a frequent user of the kindle app, and not a fan on switching to my browser instead of in-app purchases, I've opted to install Amazon AppStore and through it the Kindle for Android app.
Now, though, the Play Store always displays an update available for the Kindle for Android app.
What I would like, is a way to tell the play store not to try and manage this application.
I've already disabled automatic updates, but the issue with this is that every time I touch "Update all applications" I have to deal with a popup to confirm I want to ignore KFA updates.
It's not that big of a deal, but i'm wary of mistake on my part later down the line.
EDIT: My phone is not currently rooted, and the manufacturer enforces a factory reset to unlock the bootloader. As it stands I'd prefer not to have to root the phone (Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro)

I was going to buy the new Amazon Fire store as I completely live within the Amazon ecosystem; I've purchased apps there, I'm mainly a reader and audiobook listener.
However, with my new AT&T Next plan, I'm getting pretty screwed.
I do not have a Google Account and do not want to create one and do not want to live in the Google ecosystem. Yet, the Nexus 5 at $350 is very appealing.
I was wondering what issues I might face if I bought the Nexus 5, installed the latest CyanogenMod snapshot, and used the Amazon App store on that phone. Never installing Google Apps.
Does CyanogenMod out of the box provide a complete "deGoogled" Android phone?

Many of my apps were downloaded from the Amazon AppStore as part of their "Free App of The Day" (henceforth FAoTD) program. This program was recently discontinued in favor of
Amazon Underground
- an all-encompassing shopping app, similar to any number of their other shopping apps for Android. Since I was not interested in continuing with Android Underground
, I uninstalled the Amazon App

.
The next time I tried to run one of the apps from Amazon from the FAoTD, I encountered a dialog and immediate shutdown of the app when acknowledged with the OK button:
> Amazon Appstore Required

> It looks like you no longer have an Amazon AppStore on your device. Please install an Amazon AppStore and sign in with your username and password to use this app.

I want my android device to think my phone is in The U.K so I can buy stuff in U.K pounds cheaper.
I have set up my google wallet for the U.K. And sure enough the prices display in U.K pounds, I've installed Amazon underground and the prices in Amazon underground display in pounds, but when I download apps and open them the prices are still in U.S dollars.
Or I have a "you are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions".
I have all gps location sharing off, using wifi, and my google wallet is set up to the U.K
Any help out there?

I'd like to let them do that but with time limits and blocking inappropriate content (I know the blocking isn't perfect). It seems like if I enable free time, there's no possibility for accessing YouTube.
Freetime also seems to have weird ideas of what websites are appropriate for a 10 year old child. I tried setting the age range in Free Time to the range 10-13+ and it's still recommending "Paw Patrol" and "Nick Jr. Preschooler." This is for a 10 year old whose read the whole Harry Potter series and reads a 300 page young adult novel every week.
Other than me having to set a stopwatch or something is there an easy way to set time limits on a Fire without using Freetime. The Windows parental controls, which I also use, seem to work a lot better.

I downloaded minecraft from the Amazon appstore and installed it to my sd card. My brother removed my sd card, formatted it, and put it back in as a prank. Minecraft said it was still installed, so I uninstalled it. I tried to reinstall it through the Amazon appstore, but the only option was to open the app, which didn't exist. I waited for an update to roll out and clicked the update button. Every time I do this, as soon as i click update the Amazon app crashes. I've checked in the apps section in settings, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Amazon appstore, and I've even tried clearing the data of the app. None of this works.

I've got a Samsung 10.1 2014 which recently stopped recognizing the card in the SD card slot. Card is recognized fine by a PC, but in the tablet, nothing.
Apparently, some of my apps installed themselves to this SD card. At least that is my impression; all these apps now have lost their default icon which has been instead replaced by a transparent default Android icon with "SD" next to it. If I try to open them I get a toast message which says "Application not installed". I don't know anything about how to install or move apps to the SD card, so I assume it was done automatically by the Amazon app store, which is where all these apps were from.
Android itself doesn't recognize that these apps are installed. However, the icons are still there and I assume there must be some traces of them still present on the device (not on the SD card). I would like to get rid of all that by uninstalling. The Amazon App store says
on device but not installed by amazon appstore
but for some reason which is beyond me, Amazon chose not to implement any way to uninstall an app. I never knew there was an OS way to uninstall apps before this, as I always uninstalled directly from the app store that I installed it from. So Amazon's behavior is puzzling to me.
I have read this related question asking how to uninstall but the answers which don't talk about how to do it from Android directly (which won't work for me) mention how to delete the app, which is not what I want. When I try to delete, it tells me that if I delete the app I will lose it and have to repurchase it from the store again later if I want to install again, which is not what I want.
I thought about maybe trying to re-install the app on the device (although, not sure what it would do since it may want the SD card present!), and then uninstalling, but the Amazon app store doesn't provide any way to install the app. Since it thinks it is already installed, it only provides an "open" button, which does nothing.
How do uninstall the remnants of these apps from my device?
