Android 5: headset's button mutes an active phonecall instead of ending the call

I recently bought a phone that came bundled with android 5. It is a ZTE Blade S6. I also have bought a Senheizer MM70i which has one button. I am sure that the first few days if I pressed the headset's button during a phonecall the action would end the call. Then I tried the jetAudio Basic music player and now it seems that when talking on the phone pressing the button mutes the conversation instead of hanging up. Is there a way to revert that?? I have tried installing "Degauss Headset control center" but the application states that single button action is indeed to answer/end call, so I cannot alter the action through there. Is there any other (perhaps low-level) way? Thank you

I even force-stopped the music player in the apps menu, but no change. How do I make my headset button resume the podcast player instead of the music player?

Prevent headphones from starting Google Assistant

Like many headphones, my headphones have a button that calls up the phone's voice assistant. The phone is a Fairphone 3, stock OS, which is [their own variant](https://support.fairphone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048137372-FP3-Fairphone-OS) of Android, but looks much like any other Android. So the default voice assistant would be Google Assistant. I don't use Google Assistant, or any other voice assistant. Unfortunately, the assistant button of the headphones is pretty easy to press by accident. That stops the music and tells me to set up Google Assistant when it is safe to do so. This is accompanied by a pop-up saying "Your Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done TURN ON". Furthermore, the question is asked in a deafeningly loud voice, seemingly uncorrelated to any of the volume levels. What I've found; - [This user's solution doesn't work](https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/273692/stop-google-assistant-from-asking-to-be-turned-on) , the default app is set to None, but the phone still asks to set up Google Assistant. [This also doesn't work](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/190555/prevent-google-reacting-to-inline-remote) . - [This is related](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/242853/wrong-earphones-headphones-buttons-press-tap-behavior) , but unanswered. - [I'm aware I can remove Google in totality from the phone](https://forum.fairphone.com/t/how-to-live-without-google-on-a-fairphone-3-fp3/52374) , which is a cool idea, but then I'd need to figure out how to get a lot of apps without Google Play, and I'm not keen to do that right now. By turning off everything I could find in the Google Assistant settings, I've managed to stop it from doing anything if the phone is locked. If the phone is unlocked, I still get the popup. Why the Google Assistant settings matter when the assistant is set to None confuses me. A solution that worked by modifying the response to signals from headphones or by removing the Google Assistant would be great. Rooting the phone is not a problem.

I am interested in finding documentation about controlling an Android phone's audio player (e.g. play/stop/skip forward 20 seconds) with the buttons on the phone's headset. Based on my searches this doesn't seem to be a well-documented topic. Is there another forum in which I should ask this question? More specifically, I am shopping for a new Android cell phone (I am leaning toward a Moto G Power). I use my phone as an audio player and would like to buy a phone that: 1) supports the use of the wired headset button(s) for such functions as play/stop/skip forward 30 seconds and; 2) supports the use of an app(s) that control the cell phone audio player and; 3) Performs 1 & 2 with a wireless headset. Every few years I find myself looking for information on this topic and never seem to find much that is useful. Ref. head set button controller apps such as ...https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.irishin.buttonsremapperhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton OLD-https://beebom.com/5-apps-to-control-and-tweak-your-headset-buttons-in-android/

Why Key Test app shows KEYCODE_UNKNOWN when I press headset control button when the Generic.kl contains KEY 226 HEADSETHOOK?
My Phone runs Resurrection Remix 7.1(Redmi 3s). When I press headset control button, the key test app identifies the code as 226 but says `KEYCODE_UNKNOWN`. But the `Generic.kl` file contains the line `KEY 226 HEADSETHOOK`. Also I cannot play/pause the music using headset control button.

I have recently bought a Lenovo Tab3 710F tablet (product page ) and I'm trying to control the music playback externally with a small electronic circuit. The idea is to reproduce the same behavior as the buttons that one can find on a external headset which plugs into the mini-jack port. There is a page in the Android documentation which specifies this interface: 3.5 mm Headset: Accessory Specification . In brief, each button should be connected in series with a resistor of a given value with allows the android device to detect which button was pressed and trigger the corresponding action. The problem is that my tablet doesn't really respond according to that specification (ex button B triggers next song, instead of vol+). Also, the wiring on this tablet seems inverted between GND and MIC. I have tried opening the tablet to find the audio or headset detection IC model, but to no luck as everything is sealed. **Thus, I was thinking that maybe I could get some info from "software": how can I know which driver is handling button actions?** The idea would then to look at the source code (available on Lenovo website), to find the various capabilities coded in the driver, and maybe even an IC reference that would help me locate the IC datasheet for further information.

I have a bluetooth headset I am using with a Galaxy S4, where a long press (longer than a quick press but less than 3 seconds) will trigger voice control. When I first tried to do this action it asked me to choose a default between google, and car mode. I accidentally selected car mode and now I can't find any settings which will let me adjust that. I've gone through every single menu in both applications, and the system settings. Is there some way for me to reset it, or change it by editing a config file? Thanks!

Is it possible to have the call audio redirected to the bluetooth headset only if the call is answered by using the buttons on the bluetooth headset. That means that if I have lunch in the cafeteria located directly above my office the sound would not default to the headset at my desk, but in stead to the internal speaker of my phone - if answered by using the on screen button on the phone. I know I can change the output by using the on screen buttons after answering the call - but were hoping to make an automatic selection based on the way the call is answered (button on headset / on screen button on the phone). Third party apps or Tasker (or similar) script is an OK way to accomplish the task if needed. Thanks in advance for all help given. (Using an S7 Edge at the office - but are (firstly) looking for a generic answer.)

I made the mistake of buying the old Sony Ericsson MH1-LB LiveSound headphones for my Sony Xperia Z1 phone, thinking the two would work together, sound, microphone, controls and all. I have found out that this is not the case, and the reason is that the headphones use a standard called OMTP, while my phone uses another standard called CTIA, which basically just switches a couple of things around - as far as I've understood. What options do I have now? Should I start looking for other headphones, or is there a way to use these headphones with my phone after all? I've looked around on Amazon, and found CTIA to OMTP adapters, branded as "iPhone to (older) Android converters". Is it safe to assume that these can be used the other way around as well, that is, to convert OMTP to CTIA? The way i see it, the cable just switches around the mic and earth components, so it should be able to work both as CTIA to OMTP, as well as OMTP to CTIA. Is this correct, or am I missing something? In case someone would like to know, this is the adapter I've been looking at . PS: In case an adapter like this can work as an OMPT to CTIA adapter as well, people are welcome to leave a comment, if they know a similar but better product. Note however, that this is not the purpose of this question.
