Can't tell if HTC One V is GSM or CDMA

I won it from an HTC stand I went to, and all they said was that the phone was unlocked so that it could be used with any carrier. How can I tell if it's CDMA or GSM? I can't remove the cover to see an ESN or HEX number, and I don't see any spot for a SIM slot. On the label of the phone it has an IMEI number, an S/N number and a P/N number. Any ideas? I see listings on ebay that say GSM and other listing that say GSM/HSPA. How do I tell?

The resulting backup is a file called SD_20121221_448193_0 and stored in the SD card in /sms_backup After that, I updated to an unofficial Cyanogenmod 10 and I don't see any options in the messaging app that comes with CM10 to backup or restore SMS. How do I restore my backed up messages? Alternatively, how do I extract them from that backup file or convert them into another format? (I tried opening the file using a text editor and it seems like a binary file, I also tried opening it using SQLite Browser but it says that it isn't a SQLite database. So, to be honest, I don't know the format of the file and it would be great if someone can at least tell me what format is this file supposed to be...)

I'm trying to install a new rom in my HTC one V. I could successfully do everything with my one V until I upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10. I already have CWM recovery. USB debugging is ON . I try to check if my phone could be detected by entering the command "adb devices" while my phone is switched on, and it shows me that my phone is connected. now I restart my phone into bootloader mode, then I select fastboot, but it doesn't show fastboot usb , which previously used to show. I try to check if my phone is cooected, but no device shows neither with "fastboot devices" nor by "adb devices". rebooted phone in fastboot, opened Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers -> Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration) with a yellow triangle on the icon. Downloaded latest_usb_drivers i.e. google usb drivers, and updated its driver using it, it says WINDOWS HAS DETERMINED THE DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOUR DEVICE IS UP TO DATE, but yellow triangle persists, and still not discoverable in fastboot. please help P.S. my bootloader is unlocked

I have a HTC One V which is provided by 3 (www.three.co.uk) under contract. I recently bought a Nexus 4 from Google Play because of the price drop, and I'm using my 3 SIM in the Nexus which is working fine. I want to sell my old One V and know that I can do it a lot easier if the device is unlocked so it can be used on any network. After looking around online, cellunlocker.net quotes me $14.99 for an unlock code and Three themselves quotes me £15. I've heard from some friends that they were able to get their phones unlocked for free, if so, how would I go about doing this? I'd rather not fall victim to a marketing scam to get a code that I could get for free.

I'm facing a problem using Whatsapp. Many times if I received 2-3 pics or a large conversation on Whatsapp, the phone's title bar (where it shows date, battery status & network status) disappears automatically. Also when I open Whatsapp it opens and disappears so in that case I have to select any pic/note & select option share on Whatsapp. Then Whatsapp opens after forwarding that pic/note. I have to use the option of clear conversation and then everything becomes normal. This is really a very irritating procedure. I don't know why this happens. Many friends of mine who use other company mobiles with the same configuration as my HTC One V don't have this type of problem. Please suggest what the problem is.

I bought my HTC One V exactly one year ago, at first everything went really smoothly and it worked like a charm. It didn't take long before the phone crashed from an unexpected error. The phone spent most of the time in my pocket then, I would notice it because it vibrates then or the next time there would be that error-sign in the upper left corner. I started living with the fact it sometimes shut itself down, but now the messaging app is beginning to lag: When I want to send a message (or make a call), it happens that I cannot see my contacts. (which are imported from Google) But it could also be that I have to wait a minute or more because the messages for that contact are loading. How can I fix these problems with my phone? My Android version is 4.0.3

I have a HTC One V that reboots whenever I have my 8GB SDCard (Sandisk) inserted. Currently it has 2.5GB data in it. Once i remove the sdcard, my phone works fine. I have many apps and photos on my SDCARD. I am able to read the sd card contents on my windows PC. I formatted the SDCARD and copied the contents back, but the reboot problem persists. What else can I try to get rid of those reboots? I went through [this forum](http://androidforums.com/htc-one-v/687014-reboot-loop-sd-card.html) and one way to overcome is to fool your phone stating part of your sd card as internal memory itself. Can it be done without rooting your phone?

My phone's contacts are synced with my Google and Facebook accounts. Whenever I add a contact through my phone it gets synced to my Google Account. Wonderful... Ok I usually send them a text message to let them know my number and then through my browser I'll add a picture and so forth, all that good stuff. Now under the 'Messages' application on my phone. (Where all my sms activity goes on) I can see this contact with their new picture and our conversation. However If I go to the 'Phonebook' application (the app that manages my phone's contacts) and I do a search for that name, nothing comes up. They are clearly already in my phone since through the Messages app I cannot add them again, but they are not find-able. What am I doing erroneously??

Naive question, but when I check the specs of a phone, one website says phone has feature X, the other says it does not have this feature. Here I am interested in the ambient light sensor. What does it look like, and where it is usually placed? **For example**, GSM Arena review says the HTC One V has an ambient light sensor: "Above the display is the earpiece alongside some hidden proximity and ambient light sensors." The photo: HTC One V with hidden ambient light sensor For comparison the text says I should see the proximity sensor too. On my Galaxy Ace 2 it looks like 2 mini cameras, it is hard to miss, and on that picture I don't see anything like that. Of course maybe HTC hid that all so well. Anyway, I would like to know what I am looking for, thus the question -- **What does the ambient light sensor look like?**
