I have a Note 3 N9005, Lollipop installed on it. My phone just restarted in my pocket, by my clothes "pressing" the power and home buttons (why does that restart the phone?).
After it restarted, various apps started crashing (contacts storage, settings, internet, android.process.media, Gallery, Key chain) and my installed apps disappeared, so when I want to start them, it says the app is not installed.
Tried starting the Play Store, but it instantly closes and does nothing. Neither my other Google apps (calendar, keep). So I tried to log out of my Google account, but I can't find it on my list. Account list is empty, and when I tap add account can't find Google.
Here is what I tried:
- soft restart
- battery remove
- clearing Google Play cache
- removing Google Play updates
- clearing every Google app's cache
What's happening to the phone? I don't want a factory reset, but it seems there's no other way.

" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy">
Update:
two new unsuccessful tries:
- I rooted the device to try and delete accounts.xml and accounts.db, both came out as a dead end
- Wiped cache partition in recovery
Also, I tried to factory reset from the Settings menu, and I couldn't... safe to say this is hopeless, last try of mine will be factory reset from the recovery menu.

I have searched around the net and seems like that option is available for Galaxy S5 users, however, could not find anything for Note 3.

Every time I try TWRP on my phone, the recovery mode seems to disappear and I get "Odin mode downloading, don't turn off your device".
Volume up OR down with Home and Power will not do it.
Neither will adb. Nor any other tutorial I found and a few tutorials later. Why couldn't it just work using the official TWRP app instructions?

Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped
There are frequent messages like this on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with Android 5.0. Factory reset didn't help. Can anybody suggest a solution? My phone just bootloops and it stays on the T-Mobile screen infinitely, as the blue led function indicates something is being written to the memory but I can't figure out what the issue is. I have tried everything, Odin fails to flash a samsung rom, This started when I removed Magisk.zip because it kept crashing and the app became useless so I uninstalled it (Magisk.zip/manager as well). I can't find a stock rom anywhere for the android because it is taken down by Samsung. Someone please point me in a direction to where I can download the rom, maybe samsung will let me flash the rom but since I couldn't find one or the one I have used failed, because ODIN is trash. I decided to render this useless along with my phone. If this doesn't work I will find a way to flash any random rom I can find on to my phone because I don't want it to fail on me.

I'm wanting to be able to copy text from an app that does not support traditional android copy/paste methods. I've tried OCR methods, but the font that is used cannot be read by the OCR.
Obviously the android system understands what characters are typed on the screen, but how can this data be copied or exported?
I understand that this may required a rooted device, which is fine, I'm just curious as to how I would go about doing this.

A relative picked picked up a 'Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9006' on his trip to China.
It was misbehaving so I did a reset. When it booted I noticed a few Chinese icons on the Home screen. Opening them takes me to a bunch of Chinese porn sites!
I removed the icons and an app called ChatOn but now I have 4 new Chinese apps that have been downloaded and started automatically!
When I Stop and Disable them they come back.
So what do I do? I don't trust the device as it is. What are my choices?
Root it and try to clean it that way? I don't even know how they are being downloaded. Can I trust the factory ROM at all?
Install a different ROM on it?
Thanks.

I'm running rooted stock Android 4.4.2 on an AT&T Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900A). No problems with any other Gapps or apps in general. I have tried flashing older versions, but that didn't help. The problem remains whether it is installed as a regular user app or a privileged app. I have also tried running a permissions fixer on it.
As soon as I tap the icon the app displays for a few seconds and closes. If I erase the cache and app data it will run once correctly, but the problem returns after the account settings and whatnot are reinstalled.
Any help would be appreciated

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N9005), and it has a problem with GPS. It's definitely a hardware problem, as I changed the software and did everything, software-wise, to fix it, but no use.
I would like to send it for repair, but my knox bit is 0x1. I searched A LOT... on how to reset that, and I couldn't find a clear answer. (if you know one that's working, I'd appreciate that).
**My question is:** What is Samsung's statement on knox warranty? Is it that I lose warranty on everything if my knox bit is 0x1 or just to software issues? Many people have said many different things and I'm confused! I couldn't find any official source from Samsung explaining this... could you help me find one?
Thanks.

I'm studying tutorials on Android development. After struggling to get an AVD running on my system, I'm using my personal cell (A Note 3 on Verizon) to test the small programs I'm writing.
I enabled developer options and USB Debugging on my phone. When I connect it to my computer (an iMac running OSX), it behaves as most people want it to: It notifies "Connected as an installer" for ~30 seconds, then displays "Connected as media device." The Android File Transfer application starts up.
My problem: I need it to stay in "Connected as an installer" mode. So long as it's "Connected As Media Device" Eclipse and the Android SDK can't copy programs to it.
For the last few days, simply closing Android File Transfer on the computer caused the phone to revert back to "Connected as an installer". Lately, though, that doesn't do the trick. I open and close Android File Transfer, but the phone is stuck in "Connected as a Media Device" mode.
If it helps: Eclipse can see the device. When I plug it into the USB port, Eclipse's log show all the messages coming off the device. But Eclipse won't run programs on it so long as it's in Media Device mode.

I'm having trouble rebooting Samsung Galaxy Note 3, where it starts rebooting after holding lock button, but blacks out when/before it reaches lock screen. After blacking out (or before rebooting) it toggles empty charging battery logo in intervals and vibrates in between. As shown in the video here .
I just replaced new battery with the old one and got same behavior. However, when I connected phone to power supply (battery taken out, connected 3.8V straight to the pins), phone boots up perfectly normal and operates normally, as if nothing happened in the first place. This might be worth mentioning; the current supply, mean reboot sequence, can be pretty high (some times, e.g. right before it gets to lock screen, there is a current spike of 1A - 1.5A) but drawn current is lowered few seconds after boot to cca 200 mA and only spikes up (then back down) if any application is opened (that is, if there is action).
So that got me thinking that old battery is incapable of supplying needed current for reboot, but doesn't look like that this is it, since response is the same as in the case of new battery (got original).
**EDIT:** I just accidentally found out if I short negative pin of battery and another one in between negative and positive pin, while phone is rebooting, it reboots normally, without issues and operates normally further on, even if shorted connection between those two pins is removed.
Also am able to reboot it normally from now on and don't need to short those two pins each time on reboot sequence.

I've had three phones in the Samsung Galaxy Note line, a Note 3, a Note 5, and now for a few years I've been using a Note 8. I have enjoyed a keyboard on which I can draw a shape which has a vertex at each letter of the word I want to write, but I'm also perceiving that they're trying to make it smarter, to give it better capabilities faster than they can develop the algorithms that carry out the tasks.
(Some problems I can identify with the Note 8 keyboard is that it is autonomously adopting typos as new words in its dictionary, coming up with new words to suggest or interpret what I draw as, and also sometimes, when I write "something" putting down "s something", repeating the first letter.)
I would really enjoy it if I could upgrade from the native keyboard of my Note 8 to the keyboard which came with one of my earlier phones. Either would be good, though I think the first, that from the Note 3, would be best.

I have a *Note 3* (N9005) with 3.co.uk ROM Kitkat-updated automatically by note 3. it has the following software spec:
PDA/ AP (firmware build version) :N9005XXUGNH1
MODEM/CP(baseband or modem version) : N9005XXUGNH1
CSC(Consumer Software Customization): N9005H3GGNI1
The phone does not allow rooting by any method, CF or Towelroot so I tried to go back to Jellybean through stock Jellybean using ODIN 3.09. Odin showed RESET but post rebooting original ROM was shown as above with no change. But when I tried Towelroot it worked and root checker showed it as rooted.
Following things were observed:
1. KNOX is still shown as 0x0 in flashing mode, but Knox does not start at all.
2. Samsung Kies3 has stopped recognising the phone.
3. A security notice pops up in notifications area saying unauthorized actions detected.
4. No other malfunction in the phone.
5. Even after removing Towelroot through SuperSU the security warning keeps popping up.
**My question is :**
1. Can I flash the same ROM with the above AP/CP/CSC, downloaded from Sammobile to get the phone back to original condition to remove the security alert and restore Knox?
2. Alternatively Can I flash Vodaphone UK Kitkat ROM for N9005 on this 3.co.uk Kitkat ROM?
3. Will the new update to Lollipop by the phone thorugh aotomatic updates remove the problem?
4. Can I flash vodaphone Lollipop UK ROM for n9005 on this phone having 3.co.uk ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated and would add to my knowledge too, thanks everyone.

My device is Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005.
This phone comes with SELinux set to Enforcing by default.
I have been trying to change this to permissive but to no avail.
I built the kernel from source code following Samsung instructions, and added a line to init.rc file in the ramdisk: "setenforce 0" and this worked, however WiFi broke and I am not clued up on kernel development.
I have tried, as root, running "setenforce 0" in terminal and via adb. There is no error, however it stays Enforcing.
I am running out of options have looked through the init files in the Samsung source code and cannot find anywhere where Samsung set SELinux to be Enforcing.
Any help will be vastly appreciated!
