Can anyone please advise on how to activate a function that will allow me to view lock screen notifications when an email is received just as I can with missed calls and sms messages etc.
The only way I become aware an email has been received is by noticing the addition of a status bar icon once the phone has been unlocked.
If it helps I am currently using the stock email client and run with kitkat 4.4.4.
To date I have tried all I can to find this facility but to no avail. Many thanks in advance.

There's nothing in the Settings to customize the display of the clock. There are apps that are clock widgets, but they can be enabled only for the "home" screen, once the device is unlocked, not for the Lock screen.
How can I change the display of the lock screen clock?
Android version 7.0, Samsung Experience version 8.1.

Today, Lollipop became available for my Samsung S4 and I upgraded. Since then, the lock screen shows the current temperature:
As you can see, it shows "61 °F". Since I am located in Continental Europe, I prefer Celsius.
How can I fix that? As you can see in the others screenshots (lock screen configuration), "Additional Information" is "On" and greyed out, and accessing the "lock screen widgets" menu item only lets me configure the personal message, nothing else.
I do use a third-party weather app ([Weather & Clock Widget](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devexpert.weather&hl=en)) , but I don't think this is related, since (a) the third-party app does not contain a *lock screen* widget and (b) the app is set to Celsius.
I've found [someone on the Internet with the same problem](http://www.androidpit.com/forum/645867/samsung-galaxy-s4-lollipop-lock-screen-temperature-unit-problem) , but I haven't found a solution yet.

**with CM12 I have not managed to configure the lock screen to show the next couple of events,** without having to unlock.
I have
- A Samsung Galaxy S II (Yeah, still my preferred device)
- Cyanogenmod cm-12.1-20151116
- The pico OpenGapps package
- a PIN to unlock
I really loved the highly customizable lock screen of CM11 and it seems to be gone... Do I really need to install a lock screen app, like chronus (Is it no more packaged by default?)
*Note: my question regards a different OS version than this one. *

When I go to Settings->Display, I find an unknown option labeled as lock screen notification. So, my final question is what is it?. I tried to enable and disable it and see the changes but nothing changed.
Also, sliding from left to right have nothing. Anyone here just know what is it. I am attaching a screenshot for that.

5. A single tap on a widget does... I have no idea.
What does this mode do? It shrinks the widget and Iightens the bottom half of the screen with no apparent purpose.

I've encountered something bizarre on my phone which I think is just an innocent side effect, but I wanted to make sure that it wasn't indicative of something malicious.
From time to time, right after I unlock the phone, the LastPass prompt pops up and asks me if I want to input my master password in order for it to autofill the password for "Clock Widget." I don't use the clock widget on the lock screen, though.
I don't ever provide it the password, but initially I was concerned that there might be a program masking itself as the clock widget. Since the prompt is so closely correlated with the unlocking, I have to believe, though, that LastPass is offering to fill in my unlock code, even though it can't.
Is the clock widget somehow associated with the part of the OS that controls the unlocking of the device? Is there any legitimate reason why it would ask for a password?
I have an LG G2 running 4.4.2 and I have scanned the device with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as well as Kaspersky and I haven't found anything at all with either.
I wasn't able to grab a screenshot before the LastPass prompt disappeared, unfortunately.

Since I first bought this device, I have heard, read, and been told that adding widgets to the lock screen is possible, as long as it is enabled in settings. Well, it is, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to actually add them.
Sorry if this is a Super Newb question, I've Googled, Binged, etc... With no luck whatsoever. The only thing I seem to ever come across are instructions on how to enable them, which as I stated, I have done.

I've built a garage door opener that can be triggered by a GET request (with the appropriate password, of course), and right now it's controlled by a webpage with javascript. It's possible to use this page from my phone to open the door, but it's quite a hassle to get to my browser before I can use it. What I'm after is a home screen or lock screen widget that will send off the request with the touch of a button, or an easy way to create one. I've attempted to write android apps before, and found it all very cumbersome.
I have a Nexus 5, running the latest cm-11 nightly build.

Show command output on lockscreen

This started out with me wanting a calendar on the lockscreen. Not a list of events, mind you, but a calendar. You know, the kind that looks like the periodic table of the elements but with day numbers in the boxes and day-of-week down the columns. Currently I open up the terminal and type
cal
to get this.
Then I thought "shouldn't I just be able to put cal
on the lockscreen?" More generally, I could make a shell script that would print the calendar and maybe some other nice stuff that suits some whim of the moment, and have that show on the lock screen.
Does such an app exist already? I am using the lockscreen that comes with CyanogenMod 11, if that matters.
