How can I make the AccuWeather widget app work again on my Samsung Galaxy Alpha?

The integrated weather widget (AccuweatherPhone2014_S_LMR_HD.apk) stopped showing up-to-date weather data on my Samsung Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850F) when I had to update it from Android 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 a while ago.
I have tried deleting cache and data, but all it did is erase the cities I have saved there, and which I am not able to get back. Now it reads "Tap here to add a city" and when I do this it keeps saying "location error" or "network connexion error":
I get the following error message in the LogCat:
My first step would be to at least get the cities and clock back in the widget, and then if possible resume the weather feed.
My questions would be:
1. Does anyone know what is causing this error above? (Why would it expect "a248eakamainet" or a variant of it as the host name?)
2. How can I can potentially resolve it myself (e.g. by using a proxy or installing a certificate)?
3. Failing this, is there a way I can set the city myself by amending the files in there manually, such that at least the clock works (summer time icon etc.) and the city name shows?
Not sure if it helps but the file structure in the widget folder is as below:

ADVHTTP IOException javaxnetsslSSLException: hostname in certificate didn't match: != OR OR OR OR OR
javax.net.ssl.SSLException: hostname in certificate didn't match: != OR OR OR OR OR
Note that this is the same error as when I still had the city data and tried to refresh the weather.

/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/cache/com.android.opengl.shaders_cache
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/databases/WeatherClock
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/databases/WeatherClock-journal
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/databases/worldcity.db
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/databases/worldcity.db-journal
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/databases/files/rList-com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather.menu.MenuAdd
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/shared_prefs/config.xml
/data/data/com.sec.android.widgetapp.ap.hero.accuweather/shared_prefs/pref_widget_count.xml
(I was able to explore the worldcity.db database using DB Browser and can see all cities data are there.)
I am not a developer but have some knowledge in programming, my phone is rooted and I am somewhat familiar with running commands via ADB (I recently managed to solve a keyboard language issue myself by extracting files from a stock ROM ). My phone can access the Internet without any issues, both via WiFi and mobile data.
Things I have tried so far to no avail:
- Delete cache and data of the weather app.
- Update the weather app (version stayed at 150901.800410 despite the "App installed" message).
- Manually update the certificates in my phone by following steps described here .
- Contact AccuWeather support, their reply was that "The preinstalled application on your phone was developed by a 3rd party manufacturer, with AccuWeather supplying the underlying weather data. The manufacturer is responsible for databasing, displaying, and formatting this data, as well as ensuring it is up-to-date and cached properly.". I did not contact Samsung this time as they were unable to help with the keyboard language issue I had previously.
(At this point this is probably obvious, but I thought I would also mention that I am not interested in alternative weather widgets. I am also well aware that this is an old unsupported phone, but there are personal reasons why I want to make it work. I see this as a personal challenge.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was wondering whether there is any support or whether Android had any plans to support using Android under the rain (for instance, also in situations where an umbrella may not be enough because of the wind. Under these scenarios, the screen, gets all wet, and the rain drops activate touch, on the screen, getting the phone to respond to the pattern of rain drops that touches the screen, in a manner that becomes out of control of the finger swipes).
Because of this, I thought it would be nice if it were possible to configure the phone to have the screen become unresponsive to both finger and rain touch (impossible to make these separate), and, whether, at the same time, it would be possible (via Android support), to activate screen touches and swipes or even interact in a completely separate but intuitive manner using a headset (microphone and earpieces) attached to the phone via the headset input (because rain could interfere with voice as well, as it makes some noise as it taps on the screen... but the screen remains still largely viewable).
The voice input could be similar to TalkBack, but, instead of navigating with finger swipes, you could navigate (and enter input) via voice.
I think this would be nice.
Does Android support this?
Would anyone be willing to implement such rainy weather support in Android?
I think it would also be useful for people lacking arms or hands or who had these paralyzed but could still use voice to navigate and enter input into their phone.
When will this behavior be implemented?
Thanks.

Just got a Fossil Q Founder smartwatch. Currently, it is showing Fahrenheit. How do I change the default weather app to use Celsius?
I've changed literally every single setting I can think of. I have used the Fossil app to change the watch faces to show the temperature in Celsius. I have Google Now cards configured to show in Celsius. I even tried downloading the Google News and Weather app and changing the temperature units used there. I checked every settings menu I could find in both the Android Wear app and the Fossil app. Nothing.
Rocking a Nexus 6P. Everything is the latest.
Multiple Google search results have pointed to Google Now weather card settings as the place to change the units in the Android Wear app, but as I mentioned above, I already have those set since before I even had the watch. I tried changing to Fahrenheit and back to Celsius, but still no luck. I've tried restarting the watch and my phone a million times, but also had no luck getting the settings to take on my watch.
Can someone please help? It doesn't help that Google has the worst support imaginable. I would bet my life savings that if I called them for support, they would tell me to do a factory reset without even attempting to understand that actual issue.

I tried every letter in the alphabet in place of the f
but most of them said invalid format and none of them gave an expected value.
Is it possible to change the unit to Fahrenheit?

Once you push OK, the alert vanishes. Is there any way to recall it and see the alert text again? On iOS, WEA alerts are visible in the usual notifications pane. That doesn't seem to be the case for Android. Does anyone know if there are plans to fix this?
I imagine most people push OK in a panic to stop the loud sound, and then are left wondering what it was exactly that was so important.

I have a Garmin Fenix 5 connected to a Pixel XL.
On the Fenix 5, the calendar widget shows a weather forecast as an all day event. This is redundant (there is already a weather widget on the Garmin), and unwelcome (it clutters the calendar view and makes it less useful). These Forecast "events" do not show up in the calendar app on my phone. Where are they coming from and how can I remove them?
_Context and what I have tried_:
I have two cloud accounts in android account manager with calendars: google account (personal) and office365/exchange account (work). I have tried hiding all calendars from the calendar app settings (including the "Holidays" and "Birthdays" under "Other" and "Events from Gmail"), the result was that _no_ events are shown on the phone, and _only_ the mysterious forecast events are seen on the watch. I have gone to each calendar on both google and office 365 via the web, there is no forecast events shown. I have explored for relevant settings for both via the web sites, and outlook for mac (for o365). In office365, there is an option to show a weather forecast event, but I have turned it off for all calendars, with no result. I also uninstalled the google "news and weather" app and do not have any other weather app installed except google assistant.
One last data point: the forcast is for a location I lived previously, before I even got my Garmin.
How can a calendar event to show on the smart watch but not the calendar app?

*Disclaimer: This is not a duplicate, I've looked at these questions but none are applicable(temperature) or provide an adequate answer.*
Recently I've realized that my 15 month old LG G4 seems to have an issue with the battery in cool or cold weather: dry, no significant windchill, +5°C/+41°C
**In at least 3 instances, it happened to drop from 50% or even 65% charge to zero, rebooting without warning. I've not seen issues at other times (higher temps)**
I can even reproduce this:
- Have the phone at 50% to about 70% charge
- go outside if its around 5°C
- take a couple of pictures with Open Camera.
After a couple of minutes, it will reboot and only have a fraction (<10%) of the charge, and keep rebooting if I try to take pictures.
I've tried all the "battery reset tricks" out there, but as I said above - I don't have any issues other than in the cold (+camera).
# Is this expected behaviour or should I replace my battery ? #
Do I want *too much* from my smartphone ?
Should I scale back my settings to try and keep the power draw lower ?
---
Additional Information:
It's a Li-Po 3000 mAh (original) battery
Android 7.1.2 (LineageOS 14.1)
Open Camera settings: High Res (16:9 15.87 MP), 90% JPEG, GPS on, 100% display brightness, background thread, no flash
I'm also uploading the pictures to owncloud via the owncloud App ("Instant Upload") over 3G/4G
Here are
from GSam Battery Monitor.
If you look at them closely, it seems to "recharge" around 5% if its in a warmer environment again.

I've checked its forecasts against weather.gov, weather.com, accuweather.com, wunderground.com, and weatherstreet.com and can't find one that matches for the same location. The reason I ask is because there have been multiple times that it's forecast is horribly wrong. Case in point: currently its forecast is 13 degrees F lower than the closest one of the others above.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, in my previous version of Android (presumably KitKat), I configured it to show basic weather information on the lock screen for that day (typically temperature and overall conditions outside). This setting is in Settings > Lock Screen > Additional Info > check "Weather" box to enable.
Since I upgraded to Lollipop, the setting is still there, but even when I enable it the weather info no longer shows up on the lock screen. Pedometer is working, all the other lock screen settings seem to be working. Did they remove this one feature in Lollipop? Because honestly I found it really handy so I didn't have to unlock my phone just to view the current temperature.
Does anyone know if this is a bug or was it removed and they forgot to remove the actual option to display it?

When I go to the weather app, in settings, and chose permissions I am not allowed to change permissions. I get the following error.

I have turned off Screen overlay for everything. And I still am not able to change the permission.
