Text message notification- vibration during call
I am on Moto G4+ with Android N, version 7.0. I am facing a weird issue where any incoming text message causes the phone to vibrate **even when I am in the middle of a phone call.** Is there a standard first party way to turn this behaviour off? This is really annoying.

Now there's no way of changing it back, so now I can't even connect to a network, let alone use data. I've searched for this issue and it appears that there were other people with the problem, but all of them didn't have answers. The only possible answer was to flash the ROM again, but there was no confirmation of it having worked. And anyway my phone isn't rooted, and I don't want to root, since it is new, as well as the fact that it's not easy for the Moto G4+.

I made a mistake while trying to flash an stock rom in my XT1644. While unlocking bootloader, I didn't realize I had to check the "allow OEM unlock" in developer options. When I thought unlocking had gone good, I started flashing manually a stock update, and everything failed. Now, I can't boot into recovery nor flash a recover nor unlock correctly bootloader, since "allow OEM unlock" still appears on screen. Tried using RSD Lite, but doesn't work. How can I unlock my device without checking the "allow OEM unlock" since I have no OS nor recovery?

I have a Motorola Moto G4, marshmallow 6.0.1. When I connect it to my computer via a USB cable, it charges, and the computer detects the device, but I cannot see the contents of it, namely of the sd card inside. I also changed the USB mode to File transfer (MTP). I have contacted Motorola already and I tried everything they told me to do (USB debugging option, etc.), but to no avail. They said that there might be a problem with the computer, but I've used this computer already for this operation (but on other phones) before. I have confirmed that it works on other computers, so I am also pushed to believe that it is the computer's fault. I also installed every driver from Motorola's website. I deleted the cache already and performed every suggestion in a similar thread, still not working. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have an odd situation, I recently purchased an iPhone XS and for some reason, my older Moto G4 cannot connect to the hotspot provided by the new phone. The situation is odd because other phones, both Android and iOS, can connect and use the internet from the iPhone XS without any issues. yes I do have a sharing data plan. The Motorola G4 seems to be working fine as it can connect to other hotspots, iOS devices, Android devices, and routers from my home and coffee shops, and use their internet without problems. The Moto G4 can connect to the 2Ghz and 5Ghz networks in my house correctly. I've hard reset both the Moto G4 and the iPhone phones. I changed several times the password on the iPhone XS hotspot as well as the phone name. I tried setting passwords with all caps letters, all numbers, all lowercase, 123456789, a mix of both, but it just refuses to connect. The Moto G4 always says authentication failed, but I am 100% confident that the password is correct. If I swap the sim cards to use the Moto G4 as a hotspot then, the iPhone XS can connect to the G4 without problems. My mobile provider is T-Mobile. The MotoG4 can also get internet from the iPhone using Bluetooth connection but this is a less than an ideal scenario. I'll appreciate any clues to solve this mystery. Edit: Additional information from someone with the same problem: Getting the same problem with iPhone Xs and iPhone 11 as hotspots Moto E4 getting Authentication Failed, if verbose is enabled in developer mode it goes authentication failure 1-5 before quitting I have done a Direct Firmware Update on the iPhone Xs with no change. I have factory reset 2 of the Motos and no change. All devices running the latest OS that auto-update allows.

As shown in the screenshot (sorry it's in French), Google Messenger does not display links under phone numbers on my Moto G4 Plus (Moto G4 has the same problem). In this case I was expecting (like my previous phone) an hyperlink on '555507', allowing me to directly call this number. The same SMS within the same app on another phone (Fairphone FP1U or HTC Desire 500) shows the link. How can I configure Messenger or Moto G4 to have such links ? *Update after contacting Motorola customer service*: They say it's related to the quotes, but I am not sure at all. I have seen in my history many numbers that do not have quote, and still they are not hyperlinks. My opinion is that they link only when number has more than 7(?) digits. Moto g4 play doesn't vibrate after upgrade to Nougat 7.1
My son's G4play phone OS was upgraded last week from marshmallow to stock Nougat 7.1. Since then vibration is not functioning at all, either for calls, notifications, or "vibrate on touch". Any fixes out there? Phone/OS is unaltered - no boot unlock, rooting etc. Standard Google play apps.

**tl;dr** I can't access or sync my contacts on two phones with freshly installed Android 7.1.1 while I can access and sync them without problems on third phone, with Android 6.0, connected to the same Gmail account. ---- Whenever I try to access contacts on my Moto E4 or Moto G4 with Android 7.1.1 I see following: enter image description here This process is endless. It last 12+ hours so far. I have no problems accessing my contacts on my Moto E3 (Android 6.0.1), which is connected to the same Gmail account as my Moto G4 is. It seems that contacts are inaccessible due account not being able to sync them: enter image description here As you can see (left screeenshot - Moto G4 / Moto E4), the _Peoples details_ item cannot be sync for past two days (since getting this phone) and I don't even have _Contacts_ sync item on the list. Everything is OK on Moto E3 (right screenshot). Steps taken so far: - phone restart, - removing Google account and adding it back again, - checking on different network access type (i.e. LTE instead of WiFi). No luck so far. What else can I check or do?

I own a Motorola Moto G 4G (XT1040). Original stock ROM, Android 5.1, unlocked bootloader, custom TeamWin recovery, rooted. I only install apps from Google Play, F-Droid or trusted sources. Last week, a strange issue appeared out of the blue -- I haven't flashed any new roms, recoveries, nothing out of the ordinary, just my normal daily usage like the last entire year. Until then, I had been using the same retail stock ROM it came from factory, without ever flashing any other ROMs. (I have had this very same issue before once, with exactly the same symptoms, but I can't remember what I did in order to fix it - however the fact I was able to fix it could mean it's not a hardware issue. Maybe. Who knows). The mobile signal icon started displaying zero bars, and a "no service" message: enter image description here I can't make or receive any calls, or use mobile data, despite a "G" icon that, I think, indicates some sort of data connectivity. # I've already tried: - Enabling and disabling the airplane mode, - Rebooting the device, - Changing the "preferred network mode" to either 2G, 3G or 4G, - A factory reset, - Installing CyanogenMod 13.0 latest snapshot, - Restoring a known good TeamWin full backup (which includes the modem partition) I've performed adb logcat -b radio -v time -d and it includes the following line: 12-13 03:42:01.520 D/RilRequest( 1653): A bad SIM card - My SIM card works on another phone; 1. A blacklisted IMEI (**very** unlikely) - according to random sites , there's no block.

Developer settings are enabled, along with adb/root. My phone is using Lineage 14.1's latest nightly. What do I do? EDIT: I've discovered that the SD card can show up, so long as it's formatted to be portable. It will not show up if it's formatted for internal.

tl;dr: had a problem rooting on Android N, flashed stock M image. Now running unrooted M, but attempts to OTA upgrade to N fail. I'm unable to relock bootloader by reflashing stock. I think this is because Motorola doesn't want users to downgrade. How can I get back up to N? For the past year I've been using Android 6.0.1 rooted on my Moto G4 Plus (XT1644), the US retail model. This weekend I wanted to upgrade to Android 7.0 and install the security patches. I made backups of my phone using FlashFire (standard and fastboot), then followed this guide to return my phone to stock and relock the bootloader. It worked, and I was able to OTA update to Android N and install the latest security updates. I still wanted root, so I unlocked the bootloader again, booted into TWRP, and flashed the Magisk zip. After doing this, the phone would not boot except to recovery. Here's where I screwed up. I figured I could just start again, and tried to flash the same 6.0.1 stock image. It worked, and the phone is now running 6.0.1, but is unable to install OTA updates. Further, when I try to flash stock and relock the bootloader, fastboot warns me `(bootloader) Invalid signed image (bootloader) Preflash validation failed` for most steps, and (bootloader) Still require signed boot.img when I attempt to fastboot oem lock. The same happens when I try to restore my FlashFire backup. I believe this is functionality to prevent users from downgrading, although I was able to revert to 6.0.1. I can't find a stock Android N rom for XT1644, just an OTA udpate I'm unable to install. What steps can I take to get back to Android N, or to completely revert my phone to stock so I can upgrade again.

I encrypted my Moto G4 Play using an alphanumeric password as the lock screen code because i thought that would increase the encryption key strength. After this, i changed it to a numeric lock code for convenience. Everything worked well until i power it off. Now it says the password used is correct, but the data is damaged and i must factory reset it. As far as i know, android encryption is implemented using luks and cryptfs, so i might be able to download dthe partition and decrypt it. Unfortunately, I also deactivated ADB and unrooted the phone, so i just erased everything. Is this a bug, or i did break the keys when i changed my password protection?
