Now there's no way of changing it back, so now I can't even connect to a network, let alone use data. I've searched for this issue and it appears that there were other people with the problem, but all of them didn't have answers. The only possible answer was to flash the ROM again, but there was no confirmation of it having worked. And anyway my phone isn't rooted, and I don't want to root, since it is new, as well as the fact that it's not easy for the Moto G4+.

I want to transmit and receive custom wireless data by using Android's baseband. So the question remains: - How to do it? - Is that true that the baseband operates on separate SoC & separate firmware? - If the baseband operates on different firmware, then can it be changed? - As we know, OTA updates exist on Android, so it means it's possible to upload a different firmware. But, is it possible to change the baseband firmware using a Cable-USB-PC method or not? Case 2: if the baseband shares the same storage unit with the main OS, then it could be easier, but where to locate the firmware, what does the firmware extension look like, converting binary files to relative files? Scenario 3: We can modify the stock ROM which contains baseband firmware. The stock ROM file contains baseband firmware which can be edited/modified or replaced with custom firmware, then we can upload it to the phone. There could be multiple cases. Please help me. I have experience in coding, custom Android firmware cooking, mobile rooting, extracting firmware of TVs/routers, etc. Please remember my ultimate goal is to transmit and receive wireless custom data using a built-in Android baseband radio chip.

So now i want to: 1. replace my current EFS partitions via Termux/Terminal emulator app. 2. replaced EFS should also sync with modem without any reboot. **I have successfully done above via Fastboot and Recovery but that i don't want to.** **My Findings:** I found EFS and modem partitions are mounted as modemst1, modemst2, modem and fsg etc in /dev/block/ and /dev/block/by-name. But replacing them via Termux won't make any difference to actual EFS partitions. Also after reboot these again gets re-created/replaced. But if i replace all these partitons via Recovery/Fastboot then it make actual permanent changes to EFS partitions and sync with modem and also sustain reboot.

Do i need to edit the kernal to change the baseband someone at the phone shop suggested editing the Build Prop is this correct ? and if so how does one go about this. So when alecxs writes something I don't already know, I pay close attention and try to learn form it. Is it accurate that Google and OEMs always have backdoors in Android, and therefore one should consider any Android smartphone to be already hacked? If so, why does the baseband/modem require such a backdoor?

My phone broke while I was in Brazil, so I picked up a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9515 (I9515L for Latin America). When I got back to Canada, I realized that it didn't have the AWS band (1700/2100) enabled, so I couldn't use it with Wind Mobile. Wind Mobile in Canada uses roughly the same bands as T-Mobile in US. When I search for networks, I only see "Wind Away". On my other phone, I see "Wind Home" as I expect. From my reading, GT-I9515 is supposed to have the same hardware as GT-I9505 except for the touch screen driver. I can find other GT-I9515L phones for sale on Amazon with the AWS band enabled. Details: Model number: GT-I9515L Android version: 4.4.2 Baseband: I9515LUBU1ANJ1 AP: I9515LUBU1ANJ1 CP: I9515LUBU1ANJ1 CSC: I9515LZTO1ANJ1 Kernel version: 3.4.0-2953991 dpi@SWDD5101 #1 Build number: KOT49HI9515LUBU1ANJ1 **Idea 1: Reconfigure Qualcomm modem using QPST and QNC backup** Enable AWS on Samsung Galaxy IV AT&T i337 & Canadian i337M says that AWS can be enabled on other Galaxy S4 models (not I9515) by using the QPST utility to restore a QNC configuration. I successfully installed Samsung Kies, the phone drivers, and QPST. Taking a QNC backup worked, but restoring the supplied QNC file did not work. It failed at 5% with "Received an invalid command from the phone" error. The phone continued to function otherwise, but the AWS band did not become available. Is there a known good QNC configuration for GT-I9515L? **Idea 2: Reconfigure bands in NV_RF_BC_CONFIG_I** Enable AWS for i337 newer roms (nj4) 4.4.4 says that AWS can be enabled by flipping bits in line 1877 (NV_RF_BC_CONFIG_I). It requires root, and I was able to successfully root the phone by following [\[GT-I9505 + GT-I9505G\] CF-Auto-Root][3] and applying the CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip file for the GT-I9505 model. Initial values on the phone: 441 NV_BAND_PREF_I 65535 1877 NV_RF_BC_CONFIG_I 562950035735424 I used the mzTool utility mentioned in Unlock all bands of your Qualcomm device to generate the following values and apply them using RF NV Item Manager utility. 441 NV_BAND_PREF_I 896 1877 NV_RF_BC_CONFIG_I 1688849976132480 After applying the values, I used Terminal Emulator on the phone to run these two commands: su setprop persist.usb.eng 0 After rebooting the phone, I continued to see my new values in RF NV Item Manager, but the phone still didn't see the "Wind Home" network on the AWS band. Do I need to do anything else or change any other fields to enable the AWS band through this method? **Idea 3: Install new baseband/hybrid modem on the phone** The answer to Frequency band modifications for Samsung Galaxy S4 says that I can enable the AWS band by flashing a new baseband or hybrid modem onto the phone. I tried flashing a few hybrid modems using Odin3, but all of them failed to flash. The error was a Fail! (AUTH) message in Odin3. Is there a known good hybrid modem for this phone that works with the AWS band? **Idea 4: Install a new firmware** I tried flashing the United Kingdom firmware for GT-I9515, but it didn't work. There are some firmwares for GT-I9515L , but none specific to United States or Canada. Flashing the phone with the Trinidad and Tobago firmware updated the phone to Android 5.0.1, but still doesn't show the "Wind Home" network on the AWS band. The baseband is now I9515LUBU1BOF1, but I'm happy to revert to the original Brazil firmware if required. How can I successfully enable the AWS band on Galaxy S4 GT-I9515L? **Idea 5: ServiceMode** Based on Loreno's comment, How To Unlock Samsung Galaxy S4 , and How To Make Your Android Perform Dog Tricks , I did the following: 1. Enter *#0011# in the dialer to automatically open ServiceMode 2. In ServiceMode, Menu > "Back" 3. Menu > Key Input > Q0 4. Wait a couple seconds. If nothing comes up, do Menu Back and Menu Key Input again. 5. With luck, the following menu is now displayed: MAIN MENU [1] UMTS [2] CDMA [3] LTE [4] SIM - Not Used [5] DOCOMO DEBUG SCREEN [6] run EFS SYNC() [7] DEBUG SCREEN 6. Choose [1] UMTS 7. Choose [1] DEBUG SCREEN 8. Choose [6] PHONE CONTROL 9. Choose the Network option that's not LOCK 10. Choose the GSM menu 11. At this point I see this menu at GSM bands. AWS (1700) is not on it: [1] GSM 850 [2] GSM 900 [3] GSM 1800 [4] GSM 1900 [5] GSM 850/1900 [6] GSM 900/1800 [7] GSM ALL 1700/AWS also doesn't show up under WCDMA or LTE. Is there a way to make 1700 or AWS show up in the ServiceMode menu?

BP is part of a SoC, so it uses its own RAM and its own storage for the firmware. **Is the firmware really stored in another eMMC than the Android firmware ?** 2) **How does Android interact with the baseband firmware?** Again, my understanding (which may be incorrect) is that the BP communicates directly with the AP via a serial connection UART trough Radio Interface Layer (RIL). This RIL interact with Android telephony services. **When does the baseband firmware take action ?** 3) **When the modem/baseband/radio partition is used ?** It seems to me that it only contains the firmware. One thing I've found is that this partition isn't mounted during Android runtime. **Is it only mounted for modem firmware update ?**

I have an Android Moto G5. The specs show the following bands but will all handsets support all bands? Or is this a superset of all supported bands in the Model but the actual ones depend on where the handset is sold? enter image description here I ask because I am going to be travelling to Turkey (Istanbul) and Greece (Athens), both nations I've not been to before and wanted to confirm that my handset will work on the cellular frequencies in use on networks there. If it matter, this handset was purchased in India (see version details below) Also, if it matters the roaming will be on Vodafone network in both nations. Any other way to verify which frequencies are actually supported by the handset I own and whether the Greek and Turkish networks will support them? I have a Galaxy S3 running CyanogenMod 13 and I had always assumed it was locked or something because I could never get any service in the UK. When I went abroad I noticed I could get roaming service. I came across this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWdgWzFdla0) which seems to describe my problem and a solution to it. I notice though that the baseband firmware download they suggest (I9300XXUGMK6) is an Irish one [according to Sammobile.com](http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9300/VDI/) . I9300XXUGMK6 is actually the baseband version my phone reports now. Is the problem maybe that I am running and Irish baseband version in the UK or does it not work like that? EDIT: So I found out that I9300XXUGMK6 is called PDA and describes the device I have and there are a few different versions available for that device. The most logical baseband firmware for me then would be the I9300XXUGMK6_I9300O2UGNA1_O2U.zip since I am on GiffGaff which uses the O2 network. But I can't actually find this for download anywhere though.

I have an HTC 626g+ which was supposed to be released in India, but I'm using it in Russia, which probably has different cellular frequencies available. I've read on certain forums that smartphones try to scan and find the best band available, and sometimes they are set to scan for bands that are not supposed to work at all, which allegedly wastes precious battery life. I would like to know if disabling scanning for unused bands would save any significant amount of battery life (10 minutes is significant IMO) and if so, how to figure out which bands can be used.

Background Story : The S5 belongs to my friend. One day, he was no longer able to make or receive calls and he came to me for help. Details As you can see above, the baseband version of the phone is "unknown". When I checked the IMEI, it says null. So I searched forums for the solution. It turned out that the EFS partition was either corrupted or deleted ( source : http://techbeasts.com/how-to-restore-and-back-up-efs-data-on-samsung-galaxy-devices/ ). According to the site, I need to get my phone rooted to use the EFS recovery software. However, I encountered another problem there. I used the latest version of CF-AutoRoot to get the phone rooted. Despite Odin showing success, the phone enters a boot loop. I manage to get out of it ( by wiping cache, etc ) only to find the phone not rooted. Long story short : is there a way to recover EFS without rooting? Or is there a way to root the S5 Note : Other people on the internet managed to root their S5 ( same model ) but their build was different (XXU). Is there a possibility that the build of this S5 (XXS) is causing the error.

As per https://sites.google.com/site/cellularbinder/compatible-phones and the specs of the phoe itself, Alcatel One Touch Idol 3 does appear to support LTE Band 12. However, does it have the ability to show which band is presently being used, like some other non-Google phones can? (I currently have a couple of Google Nexus phones, and am quite disappointed that there appears to be no way to see which exact bands of LTE or UMTS do they use.)

just a quickie: I just updated (i9505) from XXUEMKE to XXUHOH2 Location Germany - dbt running CM12.1 So far all ok - no problems. My Question: After Flash (BL + Modem + WLAN) it´ll still Show XXUEMMKE as Baseband. Using APP "Phone Info": It shows the same XXUEMKE as baseband except under latest Firmware installed it Shows XXUHOH2 installed. So, why does the new Firmware not Show under Information - Baseband? What am I missing? And even that Odin said all ok. Is it really installed and running? (maybe I forgot something?) greetx 2 all you out there.....
