What is the expected behavior of the “NR only” option in the *#*#4636#*#* menu?

I have a fully-patched Pixel Fold with the latest version of Android. If I boot into airplane mode with no SIM cards installed while the “NR only” option is enabled, as soon as I disable airplane mode, the phone immediately connects to a GSM (2G) network, opening my phone up to 2G attacks despite having no SIM card. My expectation is that these connections would be blocked. I also see that the phone occasionally makes UMTS and WCDMA (both 3G) connections in this mode as well, even though 3G is supposedly defunct in the United States. My expectation is that these connections would also be blocked. If I then enable a network (i.e., Cricket or Visible) that seems to only support 5G in the form of 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) (4G+) (again, with “NR only” enabled), the phone proceeds to connect me to LTE, sometimes simultaneously with an NR network (with null MCC/MNC values and a TAC value of 0). My expectation would be for the phone to report no service. So not only is “NR only” not NR only (it allows 2G, 3G, and 4G), but if I enable airplane mode, both \*#\*#4636#\*#\* and the CellMapper app continue to report that my phone is always connected to various cells over 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, the latter two with a SIM cards installed and the former two without SIM cards installed. Is “NR only” just “prefer 5G, otherwise connect to anything”? Does “NR only” include 5G NSA, which necessitates allowing LTE (making the option identical to “NR/LTE”)? Shouldn’t airplane mode entirely disable the mobile radio? It seems if “NR only” is not literally “NR only”, then there’s no defense against the attacks described at https://www.mdpi.com/2624-800X/4/1/2 (which leverage 2G, 4G, and 4G+ (AKA 5G NSA)).

I get the following notification whenever I turn on my 4G connection: > **Data lost** > > You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off The problem is my SIM card is from the same country I live in now. This problem somehow remained since I moved from my old SIM card, and now I can't seem to get rid of it. I also see an "R" next to the connection indicator. How to solve this?

Enable 4G on dual SIMs simultaneously (Jio & Airtel) - Samsung Galaxy On Max

I have a Samsung Galaxy On Max and inserted two different carrier SIM cards, Jio4g and Airtel. It has been written that this device is dual SIM 4G. It was working fine till I was using Jio 4G as my LTE network and for mobile data as well, but when I recharged my Airtel SIM card and switched it to 4G, my Jio SIM was disabled (Jio doesn't have 3G/2G connectivity). So it means I can use only one SIM with 4G enabled. On the basis of the device model, it supports 4G SIM on both slots but not at the same time. It means it does have an SoC that can handle LTE networks on both SIMs. My concern is, can Samsung provide some update so that users can use both SIMs as 4G (LTE) simultaneously?

How to force SIM to use 4G
I have an Android phone with 2 SIM slots - however, it requires me to select 1 sim for data, and whichever SIM is not being used for data is forced to use 2G. Is there a way I can force the phone to use both SIMs on 4G?

My mobile carrier is upgrading their network from 3G to LTE. I'm using a LG V20 phone, model LG-H915 to be precise. So far, I have been contacted twice by them, claiming that my phone and SIM card should be replaced because of this. They have even offered me a new phone, but I have declined since the model they offered is a cheap one. There are good reasons to change for a new device, that's true. For one thing, my current phone is running Android 8, which is, well, very outdated to put it mildly. The battery, which is the original one as I never replaced it, seems to be draining a bit faster as well, but it's hard to tell. However, I'm not sure about the network thing. I did a bit of research, and as far as I understand, the V20 does support LTE, so I should be fine with the new network. In fact, when I activate mobile data (I usually keep it deactivated unless I actually need it), I see a LTE logo appears, and if I check in the phone's settings, it actually says that the network is indeed LTE. From Settings->Network->Mobile Networks : Mobile Networks screenshot From Settings->General->About Phone->Network : enter image description here So, do I understand this correctly and in fact do not actually need to change phone (well, not because of the LTE network, anyway)? Or is my mobile carrier correct about this?

On Facebook I can turn the audio off and on for each video, doing so makes no difference. I can't see volume controls anywhere in the YouTube app, either on each video, or in the app settings. In Android Settings > Audio, all audio levels are high. Why would audio not work on any Facebook or YouTube videos while on 4G? The problem has followed me to a new Pixel 6a too.

I am trying to turn my old phone (Xiaomi Mi 5) into a 4G proxy server which I can use with different apps for scraping data, etc. I have been searching on how to set it up and I found some articles, but they are not very clear. I am really a newbie and I have no idea how to set it up. I have bought 2 Android apps: Proxy Server Pro and Servers Ultimate Pro having trouble configuring it. These are the steps I have followed on Servers Ultimate Pro: - Add a proxy server - In the General tab, I didn't touch anything - In the Rules tab, added a new rule - HOST CONTAINS: I put my public IP address which I found at https://myip.com - REPLY WITH THIS IP: 127.0.0.1 Port: 1080 Now, when I try to test it I, get no connection.

I've tried getting my network provider (O2) to do this with my account but they said it's not possible. Is it possible to achieve this in Android instead? I'm basically just looking for a way to 'break' it... whether that's by installing some kind of app then that would be fine (perhaps if I could then return it back to normal with a factory reset)

My phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 10, Android 11) spontaneously disconnects from the mobile internet after being connected for a couple of hours, and it **won't** automatically reconnect. Can stay unconnected for however long. After I switch to the flight mode and back, it reconnects for some time, then loses connection again. Is there any way to **diagnose** what is the problem? Maybe to find some **logs** from the network hardware. I thought this might be due to a defective SIM card because the same problem happened to the phone it was previously installed in, but I had SIM card reissued at a mobile operator's office. The same problem is there with the new SIM card. What's the chance it's defective again? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ **UPD 2:** Turned out that 4g connection always disappeared during a call, and not just spontaneously as I originally thought. **UPD 1:** A little clarification: when internet is Ok the signal level has a 4g label, then in an hour or so the 4g label spontaneously disappears, and so does the internet connection. But the phone does calls and receives them. Thanks to Robert I managed to get logs by
adb logcat -P "" # and then after waiting for the internet to vanish
adb logcat -b radio
A lot of messages say 2224 at the presumable time of failure such as
: error apn=internet.tele2.ru, cause=2224, requestType=NORMAL
This describes it as "SIM was marked by the network as invalid for the circuit and/or packet service domain." _How could this happen_ after sim worked fine for the previous 40 mins? _Is there anything I can do to prevent it?_ Here are the logs, but after seeing what a mess they are, I wouldn't expect anyone to look through them. But if you actually do, the logs start with turning the airplane mode on and off, then a lot of messages start at 22:31 (where the loss is probably is) then by 23:01 there is definitely no internet connection. Any help is much appreciated.
