I have an Android 12 with MIUI 13, Xiaomi Redmin Note 11 pro 5g.
sdcard works flawlessly, configured as an removable/external memory.
I reboot the phone, and it asks me if I want to use it as an internal or external memory (portable).
If I choose external, the only option I have is to format it and loose all my data.
This is a lot of overhead: copy old data, reformat it and copy again backup up data.
I already hat to do so when I upgraded from MIUI 12 to 13.
I don't desire to do this every time I reboot the phone.
Any hints to avoid all this fuss?
I've checked with
fsck
that the partition has no problems.

**UPDATE**
Finally I've decided to:
- backup all my data
- format the sdcard with the phone
- extract the sdcard
- recopy all the data (a very lengthy process with a 128 Mb card)
- reinsert in the phone
and now it offers me to format it again in order to use it.
sudo fsck.exfat /dev/mmcblk0p1

I formatted it to exFAT but battery started draining faster as
mount.exfat
process uses CPU above 20-30% during read/write operation.
If I format to ext4, How can I made sdcard files available to all android apps ?
Is there any other filesystem which can store large files and android apps can access it as well ?

How to format the internal memory of a Huawei Mate 20 Lite?
I have a Huawei Mate 20 lite I need to format its internal memory. I don't mean to *reset* it to factory defaults. I mean I have to format it, that is, I have to overwrite the internal memory with 0s (or with random data and then with 0s). How to do that? I have a Linux desktop.

The folders appear to be empty. Is this normal? I don’t have much experience with Android phones (I’ve been in the Apple ecosystem pretty much exclusively); Is this expected behavior, or should I reformat the microSD card?

Title: Can Android perform surface analysis (Detection of bad sectors) on external SD Cards?
**Reasons for asking:**
1. At one point, I found tons of old pictures and videos in the 'LostDir' folder.
2. My tablet and Windows 8 computer ocatilny fail to recognize the card for extended amounts of time. Often, however, and letting it sit for 1-4 months or less and plugging it in and then taking it out several time repeatedly it will start to work.
3. A couple of times, my tablet claimed the card was corrupted.
4. A friend's windows 7 computer was able to access shortly after both my Windows 8 computer and tablet couldn't read it.
**Question**
I would like to know if Android can do any of the following:
- When reformatting an SD Card, can it detect bad sectors?
- If it finds a bad sector, can it map around it, so that it does not affect the card. What if I reformatted it with separate software or a different OS?
Also, are there any other ways to ensure the integrity of my Sd card?
**System Information**
OS: Android 4.2.2
Model: Samsung Galaxy tab 2 (Wifi) GtP3113
Age: About 6 years
SD Card age: Between 4 and about 6 years.

I'm on Samsung Galaxy On7, Android 6.0.1-Marshmallow. My phone has a small internal memory, due to which I'm thinking of converting the sd card to an internal storage facility.
I read this article , where they've explained how Android 6.0.1 allows one to convert a sd card to an internal storage facility by formatting. They've also stated in the article as to how to rollback the formatting.
Suppose I've formatted my sd card, and moved several applications there. Now, I want to rollback the formatting. As they've written in the article, I'll have to move my apps to internal storage before I format again. But, is it possible to move apps to internal storage after moving them to the formatted sd card? That is, after formatting, will I still be shown an option of moving an app back to internal storage?
Moreover, can this method bypass the developer's setting which prevents an app to be moved to sd card? I mean, if I have an app that cannot be ordinarily moved to sd card, then after formating, will I be able to move it to sd card?

Thanks in advance.

I'd like to reformat / reset my verizon Samsung S4 (SCH-I545, baseband **OF1, Android 5.0.1). After doing a number of tests and experimentation, I believe that there is a malicious binary sitting in /system which is causing me to follow a random Russian porn Instagram account. I'd like to get rid of whatever is causing the auto-follow (it's not even good porn), so I thought a hard reset / reformat would be ideal... HOWEVER, I believe that a factory reset does not touch /system. Is there a recommended approach with a non-rooted phone to essentially start with a blank slate?
The phone itself was never rooted, but it did come refurbished a year or so ago from Verizon. Since it's running a OF1 baseband, I believe rooting it is out of the question? If it's possible to root, that might solve a lot of problems.

idk if I mind the contact list (altho I had written down all the names / numbers I wanted to keep) but the apps re-installing themselves is a bit of a PITA. I could start uninstalling every app under the sun but as a matter of personal preference the apps that came with the phone (even if they're not a part of Android itself) I'd just assume keep. And plus it just seems like it'd be easier to start from scratch and selectively install the apps I know I want instead of uninstall the apps I don't want.

Alright, so this is an ongoing saga of trying to fix my broken SD card. Let me struggle to explain what's wrong with it.
**When copying files to the SD card**
The files are completely corrupted. For instance, have a listen to Body Talk by Robyn:
https://soundcloud.com/nobleuplift/sets/corrupted-body-talk
Some songs are mashups of other songs on my phone, or speed up to 4x speed. We Dance to the Beat takes 17 seconds to play.
**When deleting files from the SD card**
The files/folders will appear deleted up to the point either when the SD card is mounted/unmounted, reformatted, or the phone is restarted.
Yes, you heard me right, **reformatting does not delete any data from my SD card**. It is restored to the state it was in two weeks ago when I first noticed signs of corruption.
On the bright side, I can still listen to anything I copied to the SD card beforehand with no corruption.
**When trying to reformat the SD card by other means**
First, I tried to reformat the SD card using Windows XP. I tried both exFAT and NTFS. exFAT failed immediately, whereas NTFS took about 15 minutes before it said it couldn't do it.
I tried the exact same thing on my MacBook Pro and here are the logs from trying that:

How to format /storage/sdcard0 in ext4

A week ago, I flashed my Nexus S 4g with a custom kernel (Matrix) and ROM (CWM9). On reboot, my NS4G always bootloops, stuck on bootloader loading screen, and never gets to the Android System. It had the same result when I tried to flash it back to a stock ROM.
I removed the battery, put it again and tried to boot into recovery to use adb to check my SD card content with parted (I think there was a problem on partition). In parted I can reformat it using adb or recovery, but its content couldn't be changed. I think there was a problem with NAND flash.
Is there any way that I could Reformat NAND flash to fresh state?
