Find out if remote wipe has worked (Google find my device)

My phone (Galaxy S7 Edge) was stolen two days ago and up until about 8 hours ago it had been off (or airplane mode was on), I decided that I wasn't seeing that phone again so I opted to erase the device via the "find your phone" section of google my account (the replacement to google device manager, i believe). About 2 hours after I sent the command, the phone synced with my google account. The phone was offline when I sent the command but I was assured the command would be executed when the phone came online. Presumably it came online when it synced. Is there any method by which to tell if the command succeeded? The sim is still in the phone and active, I haven't changed the Google password or anything at all along those lines, my phone will still be connected to Google. EDIT I should also mention that the phone has not been reachable after the sync - but that could be down to the phone being switched off again

Can an Android device be remotely factory reset using any email ID on the device?
We had created a common ID for the college group and I think someone remotely wiped my phone. Is it possible to do it with the secondary account?

However, https://android.com/find has an "Enable lock and erase" button that will remotely change these settings back, which seems to defeat the purpose of having them in the first place. How can I actually turn these off in a way that can't be remotely turned back on?

I broke my Nexus 6P screen, so am replacing it - usually I would factory the phone. However, I can't as the screen is completely black. I power cycled the phone, but I am unable to enter the pattern to unlock the phone (fingerprint scanner only works after you enter the pattern after restart). I used Android Device Manager to wipe it, but as I can't decrypt it through entering my pattern, it isn't online, so can't be wiped. **However, does any of this matter if the pattern can't be entered after power cycling?** Surely the device is encrypted so my data is secure. And if anyone manages to guess my pattern, the device will be online and ADB will wipe it. Should I do anything else?

Can I factory reset my tablet remotely?
I sold my Galaxy Tab 3 Lite on eBay. After I mailed it out to the buyer, I remember that I'd forgotten to erase it first. The problem is *not* about sensitive information. The problem is (still using my Google Password) the buyer might not be able to get into and use the tablet.

I am selling my Moto X Play and want to make sure all my personal files were permanently removed from the device. I did a Factory Reset from within the OS twice and noticed that my photos would still appear after the reset was completed. So then I booted into TWRP recovery mode and went to wipe and wiped the internal SD and Data on the device, booted back into the system and the pictures were all gone. I then flashed a completely different rom and pictures are still gone now. I just want to confirm that at this point that my files are completely erased and could never be recovered.

Reverse a wipe request for a stolen phone
My phone was stolen two days ago and magically found its way back to me today. I had activated the wipe function for when the phone is turned on. I'm being told that it hasn't been switched on yet, so I'd like to reverse the request to wipe the phone. How would I do this?

I was about to install the Outlook app on my phone, when it asked me to activate it as a device admin. (See image below): <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> I'm sure few people read the whole warning. One part greatly concerned me: > **Monitor screen unlock attempts** Monitor the number of incorrect passwords typed. when unlocking the screen, and lock the phone or ease all the phone's data if too many incorrect passwords are typed. --- Well shoot, if there's risk of ***all data being erased***, I'm not really not that interested anymore! I often accidentally swipe patterns while I'm holding my phone in my hand. Plus a friend or young family member may be fooling around with my phone, unknowingly creating me a very long restoration process and lost data I can never get back. What I'm wondering: 1. Is this just a generic warning given for any app requesting admin privileges? Perhaps it's possible that Outlook doesn't use the erase feature? 2. Is there a way to verify *how many* incorrect login attempts will trip the erasure? 3. Can I override the ability for it to erase my phone? (I'm guessing not.)

If my phone was ever lost or stolen, my only real concern is data and apps associated with my Google account, such as my Gmail, the ability to purchase apps from the Market, and maybe Picasa albums. Is there a way to block access to these Google associated programs if I change my password or do something else with my account? I would also be interested in any solution that remotely wipes my Google data. I know remote wiping questions have been asked before, but I feel that my question is a little more broad, in the sense of overall protection of data in which wiping is a possible answer. FYI, I'm running a Gingerbread-based ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S (AT&T Captivate).

What exactly can Outlook remote-wipe when using multiple accounts and how I can I prevent havoc via root?

On my Huawei P20lite I can add multiple users or use the "Private Space" feature (which to my understanding [boils down](https://www.androidpit.com/how-private-space-works-android) to just another user account as well). Now, from the screenshots in [another SE question](https://security.stackexchange.com/q/174136/3272) : screenshot What gets me worried is the "Erase _all_ data" permission. So assuming I'd set up a secondary account and my employers IT decides to trigger this remote wipe, will only that account's data be affected or would this concern the entire phone? What will happen to my SD card data? My phone is rooted, is there any way I can ensure that this can only wipe Outlook data (if anything at all)?

Why can this be? enter image description here

Here's an urgent situation regarding phone robbery: 1. My android phone (note 8) gets robbed and as far as i know it has not lost its way to some general person. It was robbed by force, so people handling that can misuse it, so am very concerned. 2. It all happened in a very unexpected fashion and very fast. In a hurry to secure device, i immediately login to my nearest computer when possible (after 15-20 mins), googled how to clean the lost device and followed the steps. From the very moment it showed these two options: a. ) Play Sound b.) Enable secure and erase I repeatedly click on enable 'secure and erase', google showed an alert that a request to secure and release has been sent. But i guess robbers would have switched the phone off, so google might not have been able to delete it immediately. 3. I read that as a first step, i must change my account password. So immediately i changed my account password from the phone. 4. Meanwhile, i kept trying for secure and erase and searching for other safe options. On searching for how would i confirm if the device have been wiped, i came to find that after 'secure and erase' google supposedly sends an email to ask for further multiple options. Now here's my concern: 5. Having already changed the password, when those robbers do turn the phone on, will google would be able to still secure and erase the phone? Or have i hurt my own cause after changing the password immediately. The emails contain lots of personal information as i have been a heavy user of email on phone and of professional email as well. Also the phone's gallery contains more than 2k photographs of family members and close friends. Am really concerned about this. I know similar question have been asked before but the answers to that arent very clear. So I'll be really greatful if on or more of you can share any further information on this.

I don't believe these exact questions have been answered, so would appreciate your help! I lost my Samsung Galaxy S8 while it was on airplane mode. I have been checking Find Your Device frequently, but I have seen no change in the date it was synced (which is the day before I lost it), nor have I been able to locate it. I tried locking it, but after inputting the information the screen gets stuck in “Trying to contact your phone…”. I also clicked “Yes, erase” in the “Consider erasing your device” section. The words “Trying to contact your device to erase it…” showed up in the bottom left corner and disappeared within a few seconds. I was left with a screen saying that I could restart these steps at any time: screenshot When I go to the Find Your Device homepage again, there is no record that I tried erasing the phone. The “Yes, erase” option is still there. I tried it multiple times from both of my Gmail accounts. How can I tell that the erase command was sent and will be completed as soon as the device is online? And how can I tell if it has been erased? I did not receive any emails about it. I did sign out of my Google accounts remotely and change my passwords. Is that why it doesn’t work? I thought I would still be able to track the device after those actions, but I don’t know if I can still lock the phone or erase it. I don’t actually know if the signout and password changes worked, though, because the phone was on airplane mode when I lost it. Any other advice would be great. Thanks!

someone that i was friends with in a phone game decided he hates me and recently factory reset my phone and my tablet remotely through a shared gmail account. that part is over and done, but we shared more than one gmail account and i want to prevent him from doing it to me again. I would think that when my devices were reset it would remove them from all accounts that they were logged into, but wanted to be sure that he will not still see my devices logged in on any of the shared accounts. i have not added those accounts to either device again, the only account added is my private account.

My android phone has been stolen. The thief took out the sim and immediately turned it off.My Gmail account was synced to it and I tried to remotely ring, locate and erase data using gmail on PC.However, since the phone was off and having no internet connection, the access was being continuously denied. When I tried erasing data remotely, a message appeared "Request sent". After that I changed the password to my gmail account that was synced on the stolen mobile android device. Now I have the following concerns: 1) Since request for erasing password was already sent before the password was changed by me, does this mean that whenever my phone will be turned on, the android device manager will wipeout/erase all data or will it show an authentication error since the password has been changed and gmail is no longer synced. 2) If I ask the network service provider to block my phone, can it still be traceable by the imei number? 3) Any other information as to how to get my phone traced back or atleast erase all the data? (I have the Imei number with me)

Not sure if USB debugging is activated. (I tried using Droid Explorer, but the phone isn't detected)
