I have a Pixel 4a with LineageOS (Android 13) that can connect to various WiFi networks. Not all passwords can be viewed through the WiFi page in settings, e.g. those with WPA Enterprise or those added through third-party app.
How can I retrieve the passwords of these WiFi networks?
I tried finding the location of it via Google, but all the suggested paths turned out to be empty or missing:
-
/data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore.xml
(does not exist)
- /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
(does not exist)
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant
is a directory, but it is empty. The only other thing in /data/misc/wifi
is the empty /data/misc/wifi/socket
folder.

I want to see my wifi passwords. I have a Samsung Galaxy M31 with Android 10, rooted with Magisk. I was told I could find my passwords on the wpa.supplicants.conf file, but it's practically blank. I only just now discovered that they are actually in the WifiConfigStore file, but are encrypted. Then I was told I could decrypt my passwords by editing the line on my build.prop file where it says "ro.securestorage.support" to false. But that line is nowhere to be found on my file. I would like to know how to make my wifi passwords non-encrypted, whether by editing these files or otherwise.

Every article I find mentioning how to share a Wi-Fi password between Android devices either mentions using a QR code, or clicking a "nearby share" button.
But when I enter the password for a new Wi-Fi network on my Galaxy phone, my Galaxy tablet connects automatically to the same network, without any action on my part. No QR code nor button pressing. And this happens while the tablet has no internet access.
What mechanism is making this happen? Is this something that I enabled and I don't remember, or does it happen by default?

I am aware that I can choose to share my Wifi credentials from Settings. They are shared in the form of a QR code. That said, in my device I can share credentials for only those Wifi networks to which my device is connected to in **real time**.
This would not have been a problem except that the Wifi whose password I want to extract is hosted on a router that is located in an another country. So getting access to that real time Wifi is no longer feasible. My device is not rooted either.
So what can I do get the credentials for that Wifi without connecting to it?

How can I preserve my initial portable hotspot configuration (mainly current SSID, encryption) settings on my device. I noticed when I use 3rd-party applications (such as WiFi transfer, Mi Drop etc) my hotspot configuration gets messed up and worse deletes the previous encryption, sometimes I only find out later that situation.
So in case of unattended session, I would love to preserve my initial config, to prevent unauthorised access to portable hotspot, which could incur significant data charges. Is there a way to achieve that [Running Android 7.0, Miui 11]
I had [tag:automation] in mind to restore back to original setting, (but can't figure out full workaround) where *the trigger type is WIFi tethering state → Enabling(but the limitation here I can't put the desired config rather its just an on switch AFAIK but I may be wrong)*

I have a rooted Android 7.1.1 phone with a large number of wireless networks configured; some of these are relatively complicated (EAP-TTLS, custom CA certificate, whatnot; the point is it's more involved than just a shared secret).
I would like to copy *some* of these networks to another phone, also rooted (running reasonably recent LineageOS, likely Android 9 or 10), without overwriting other wifi configuration that exists on the destination phone.
I know I could use something like Titanium Backup (which I bought) to do a full backup of all wifi networks from the source phone and restore it on the destination phone, but that doesn't meet the following two needs:
1. don't transfer all, just some saved wifi networks;
2. don't overwrite existing networks on target device (just add new networks).
I'm also not certain it would correctly transfer the certificate along with the network it pertains to.
I looked at https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/28654/how-to-copy-wireless-networks-list-from-one-android-device-to-another/28663 , but that also only addresses copying all networks, not cherry-picking.
I suppose I could merge the new networks into
wpa_supplicant.conf
, but is that safe to edit while Android is running? Won't changes be overwritten? (Update: it would, unless editing while in recovery mode; see https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/183685/how-to-modify-wpa-supplicant-conf) (Also, I'd still need to find a way to transfer the CA certificates.)

I'm trying to figure out the logic of the WifiConfigStore.xml file on Android 10.
I am rooted. I have a XML file generated by Titanium Backup, which I can import and have several hundreds of saved networks restored.
Each marked with "Saved by Titanium Backup".
If I remove TiB - all saved networks are gone.
Password viewers work, but I'm looking for a way to "mimic" TiB's behavior: export a list, then import it, without a specific app dependency (so passwords won't disappear if I remove the app).
I tried dumping the WifiConfigStore.xml after saving one network, manually adding a saved network, pushing it back and setting the permissions+owner. After a reboot - no saved passwords on my device.
Help would be appreciated

I'm looking to configure some Android tablets for shared use in a work environment so they can be used as mobile terminals for an ERP system. In case it matters the test device right now is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2019 running Android 9 but I'm open to deploying other devices if there's options that work on other models.
The tablets will need to connect to our restricted wifi network which is authenticated individually normally (we don't have shared devices currently) so I was thinking of connecting to the network with a shared/generic user on the admin account and then trying to restrict access to the wifi settings so that shared users of the device can't access the password.
Unfortunately after creating a restricted user I couldn't see a way to restrict access to the wifi settings which has an option to present a QR code for others to be able to access the same wifi network with those same credentials and configuration.
If I use the guest user they don't seem to have any way to open the application that we need and also once they log out all their session data is thrown away which would require a painful setup process on the business application we need to use each time and require a privileged user to intervene.
I also explored pinning the application which does prevent users from directly accessing the wifi settings (and is probably what we'd want anyway as these would only be used for this application) but anyone with knowledge of the unlock credentials (eg swipe pattern/pin/password) for the user would still be able to unpin and access the wifi settings. Because these devices are being deployed across multiple sites this would cause issues as we'd need to expand the group of trusted people with knowledge of these credentials and thus access to the wifi password that would need rotating when any of those people left.
Ideally, I'd like a way to be able to just use restricted profiles without access to the wifi settings/being able to read the wifi password because then we can leave that restricted profile as just swipe to unlock and there's nothing else sensitive on the device. Is there a way to do this? Am I missing a better option for shared Android devices?

Under what circumstances will a current Android sync or otherwise send passwords off the device? The credentials in question are for:
* WiFI
* Non-Gmail email accounts accessed through the stock Gmail app
* Other apps, eg. Twitter
This question is on behalf of a family member looking at acquiring a Pixel 3, but concerned over how such is handled (including whether apps are able to read each other's data). I've been able to find details of how the Gmail app works with credentials for Gmail accounts, but for other email types and the other cases the details seem more fuzzy (or the answers more than five years old).
It is of course expected that for email protocols such as POP3 the client will need to submit the credentials off the device to authenticate with the service; this question is about whether they might get sent somewhere else as well, for whatever reason, and whether this can be controlled.

My Android device (A Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930F, version 6.0.1) has different wi-fi networks saved. I would like to recover some of the password it has stored.
Browsing through the web I searched possible solutions but none of it has worked for me.
- Stored password in wpa_supplicant.conf are encrypted, and even if I change the build properties "ro.securestorage.support" to false, old password remain encrypted or get deleted, and I would like to recover those.
- I know that wi-fi password usually get backed-up on google drive, but I have no idea how to recover them from the backup online.
- I heard about an Xposed module "Wifi password" which supposedly should show the wifi password instead of the normal dots, but I have a TouchWiz device and if I install the Xposed Framework i'm afraid it would wipe my data, included my wifi password.
I understand that encryption is meant to keep safe your password, but as far as I know, every time I try to connect to a wifi network it uses the real password, so they have to be stored somewhere or decrypted on the go.
Can anyone help me?
EDIT: As I said, if I change
ro.securestorage.support
property on build.prop
file, my stored password either get deleted or they remain hashed.
If i delete .system.wpa_supplicant
>all saved WiFi hotspots will be lost for the first time.
Also as said in the comments, the password isn't encrypted so there's no "way" to decrypt it, but it's hashed and there should be a way to recover it

Recently I realized I have to re-enter my password for all WiFi networks even though the passwords are the same.
Is this simply a corrupted WiFi password file case (I have no Idea how the software on this phone manges passwords) or it could be that the phone is somehow compromised and some malware is forcing me to re-enter passwords in order to log them?
I appreciate your help in advance.
