Recently I bought Philips 272E1GAEZ display.
Important Edit: if I first power up macbook without external display, then close the lid and connect power and display - no lags whatsoever on the external display. The problem only when I first connect external display, then power up macbook, then open the lid to enter password (bluetooth keyboard not working on authentication screen), close the lid and use display with clamshell mode - lags happen.
I read reviews about 144hz and wanted to try it out with my Macbook Pro 2019, 16".
I connected it via HDMI. I tried Display Port -> Type C adapter at first, which gave me 165hz and Adaptive Sync, but after 1 hour of usage screen started flickering, switching off for 1 second (basically display port became unusable, no matter the refresh rate, after restarting macos 1 time I ended up with 100% CPU usage with fseventsd and unusable ANYTHING, lags were everywhere, imagine 3FPS, I don't know what was that but after restart they disappeared).
So now I use 120hz and 1080p resolution via HDMI port. (changing refresh rate does not affect problem)
My Macbook has 2 video cards:
AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB
It seems that any program that requires somewhat powerful video card uses my Radeon Pro video card has problems with lags.
The problem also with anything that I assume has extensive graphics card uses. Browser tabs, when hovering them, some menus in settings on macOS, scrolling lags so much.
I noticed the problems after I connected external display first time with display port (not HDMI) and I had like SUPER SMOOTH everything, even Blender.
Of course, without external display I have no such lags and this is what shocks me the most. I mean I have 1080p resolution on external display and retina resolution on macbook - why would anything lag on such low resolution on external display?
Now, if I connect Display, I have heavy lags on basically any program that requires good graphics card.
If it matters, Macbook in vertical position, back side on the bottom, clamshell mode.
Here are my settings for display:

I have a new MBA-M1 with the Anker 8 in 1 dongle . I currently have plugged to it the following devices simultaneously: 1) HDMI for my 1080p monitor, 2) USB-A for keyboard, 3) USB-A for backup external disk, and 4) USB-A for USB wireless mouse (I don't know the technical name of it, but is a wireless mouse that is connected with the computer through a USB-A dongle which comes with the mouse).
Now, 1, 2 and 3 work good simultaneously, but the wireless mouse (4) performs very poorly, as the cursor is very sluggish and has a lot of lag relative to the actual mouse movements. I tried disconnecting the other devices at once and testing how it worked out, turns out that going without the external monitor connection (HDMI) brings back to normal the behavior of the mouse. Nonetheless it's not feasible for me having to choose between mouse or monitor. Then, I'd be very grateful if someone could help me in how can I solve this issue.
Thank you in advance.

Recording direct from camera into MacBook Pro via HDMI?
Is there any way to 'tether' my camera via its HDMI out to a MacBook pro? The goal is to record live, uncompressed, video direct from a camera. Thus skipping the camera's file system and recording directly onto the Mac's hard drive via Premier Pro or similar software.

I own this monitor https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00PRCRWRU / https://www.dell.com/lv/business/p/dell-u2715h/pd
It supports the following inputs:
- 2 HDMI(MHL) connector
- 1 Mini DisplayPort
- 1 DisplayPort (version 1.2)
Currently it is plugged into my Mac Mini 2012 using mini-displayport, but I am about to replace with an 27" 2020 iMac. My confusion is that formerly, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt were the same connector but Thunderbolt3 now uses the USB-C style connector. I want to make sure I have the right cable ordered in advance that will let me use this monitor at it's native 2560 x 1440 resolution and I am not sure what my options are, and whether I just need a single cable or some adapter.
There were some limitations on driving it at full resolution via HDMI, but I _think_ that was a limitation on older Macs, not the monitor.

I ask this question as I'm currently looking at a USB-C to 3 HDMI adapter however the price is pretty high - and I'm looking for a workaround. It seems that individual USB-C to HDMI cables are a lot cheaper.

Does Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (USB-C to HDMI) support Windows/Ubuntu (on MacBook Pro 15" 2017)?

But when booting to **windows 10** (bootcamp) it behaves strangely.
When connecting display for the **first time, it works OK**. But resolution is not display's native or refresh rate is low (not what display supports).
**When I try to change it**, display goes into infinite restart loop (not MacBook, but display itself), it looks like display being disconnected and connected again over and over. It shows black screen, but Windows desktop scaling changes, MacBook screen blinks endlessly once per 5-7 seconds. If I disconnect HDMI cable, blinking stops and I can use computer.
My first clue was Apple adapter not supporting any OS except macOS (I want to use Windows and Ubuntu Linux), but I didn't find any information on this, so I ask here.
Did anyone try using USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter with Windows or Ubuntu?
Does it work with Windows or Ubuntu?

Will this adapter convert Mini DisplayPort monitor signals to USB-C / Thunderbolt 3?
I'm specifically attempting to connect a non-Thunderbolt Apple Cinema Display to my Mac via Apple-branded adapters.

I bought an USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter but did not notice that Dell2214H only has DisplayPort. That so, I have to buy another HDMI to DisplayPort adapter, but the display does not work when I connect to my MBP.
I'm not sure it is because of the setup ( USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter -> HDMI cab -> DisplayPort adapter -> external Display ) does not work or not.
There is no USB-C to DisplayPort in Apple site, maybe MBP 2017 cannot output to DisplayPort?
What should I do next to make my Dell display work?
Note:
- I tried my MBP with USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter and it works correctly. But the display quality is not really good, that why I want to make it work with DisplayPort
- I checked the version of Adapter driver, it is the latest version ( 2.33 ) already.

I've seen numerous guides on the internet about flashing the BIOS on the video cards and also ones that speak about adding the EFI BIOS, but in the haphazard forum approach, it isn't clear how this all works. To some degree, I've recently come away with the notion that you don't get rid of the existing BIOS, but rather add an EFI partition to it that the Mac would recognize. If that assumption is correct, then it would lead me to believe that adding an EFI BIOS that works on a similar card (R9 280X or 7950 which are both close but not quite) *should* work since I'm assuming that the existing BIOS would be similar enough to hook in. Failing that, I'm not clear how you would get a card-specific EFI BIOS for boot screen support.
Anyone an expert on this? I'm just really having a hard time trying to sift through all this and hoping to get a more direct answer!

I bought this dock station USB-C JF68 and everything works besides HDMI+Display port simultaneously.
The site claims this thing supports MacBook (I'm using 16" Pro). And it also claims that it supports 2 video outputs in extended mode simultaneously. Giving the fact that Macbook also claims that it supports 2 video outputs from a single thunderbolt (on each side of the laptop) I rely on that this station supports my Mac.
But when I attach both ports together I get mirrored output to both of my external displays (I mean both of them work, but the image is exactly the same). Nevertheless, they are still extended from Macbook's integrated one. If I get to Display arrangement settings in macOS I see that it only detects both displays as a single one. here's the image the display with white border is my integrated one, and the right one is actually both of my external displays.
I use HDMI->HDMI cable and FDP->FDP (Full-size display port). So there are no intermediate parts. The both external monitors run at 1920x1080@60Ghz (Acer v226hql (HDMI) + MSI optix g24c (Display port).
I'm running MacOS Catalina 10.15.2, which I updated yesterday, so all drivers are up to date. I'm not sure if they're some official Azdome driver because I haven't found any.
The interesting part that this exact adapter outputs both displays in extended mode ok for my MSI laptop which runs Archlinux. So the adapter is definitely working. The issue is probably with drivers. I also asked apple support they say that they guarantee that their software drivers only work on official adapters that I can only buy on apple.com.
All of the other things work ok (ethernet/USB/power delivery/ audio). I also tried to plug off every other thing from the adapter and tried to run only with HDMI+DP connected but it just doesn't matter.
I also have another cheap adapter usb-c->hdmi+usbc+usb which when I connect to the same side to the same external monitor works.
Well, that thing described above only works like that only ~50% of the time. Another 50% MacBook just doesn't detect both screens at all. (I mean display arrangement tab is missing from display settings, and they are both black). In all 100% cases all other interfaces from this dock station work.

I am currently using my 2015 MacBook Pro with my thunderbolt display. I want to buy a new laptop (HP) but I realized that I would have some problems to connect it to the Thunderbolt display. The new HP I want to buy has an HDMI port. I have browsed on internet where I could find a HDMI male to Thunderbolt 2 female (because I have an integrated Thunderbolt cable with the display) and there is nothing even on Amazon. I could only find adaptators with Thunderbolt male. I have searched for another way to connect the display with my new PC. On the backside, there is a Thunderbolt 2 port. Can I use this port to connect a Thunderbolt 2 to HDMI adaptator ? If you know another way I could use the integrated cable, please tell me.
Thanks

When hooked to my new ASUS monitor with an HDMI cable, the display cuts in and out. Changing the resolution makes no difference.
I have tried three different cables, including a known good one.
I tested the display with a PC over HDMI, and it worked flawlessly in multiple resolutions (over a cable I had previously tried with the Mac).
What's my next step?

I have a new iMac 4k 21.5" (2017) running under macOS Sierra 10.12.6 and featuring 2 Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports for the connection to additional displays.
I'm attempting to connect this Mac to my 6 years old Samsung HD TV (32" 1080p (UE32C)) but with no luck. My TV has 4 HDMI ports, port 1 is connected to Apple TV and works quite well, the rest 3 ports had been used to hook up my Mac over an EZQuest cable.
I supposed that connection process should be trivial, you only have to connect the cable to the mac and to the TV than open system config tool and set up monitor in the screen config section but I failed. I have only got the black screen on the TV and second screen doesn't appear in the macOS config utility.
I would appreciate if someone suggest me where is the root of problem except the broken cable obviously.

Does connecting a monitor to MacBook Pro via display adapter lower the refresh rate, or should I just find a non apple monitor that has thunderbolt port? I don't want to have to deal with any performance issues while coding and compiling or render images/graphics in Adobe CC.
I'm very new to the whole Mac ecosystem, so all advice is appreciated.
